What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Loving light and the way it plays on textures, colors, angles and surfaces
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What do you want to use the images/videos for? Are you looking to inform/illustrate or are you looking to sell? Where will the images appear and how will they be used?
What do you love most about your job?
Light and space. I love the way light falls on a surface and the way it is sculpted by the reflective surface and guided by the transparent ones. If I think about the difference between a living room and a prison cell, the difference must be "Windows and light" By placing the windows correctly in the frame we can change how the room feels to the viewer. By lighting a product beautifully, we can set up a desire in the viewer.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The opportunity to make a living out of what I loved doing. In a career of over 30 years, the thing that I'm most grateful for is the fact that people are willing to pay good money for the images I produce. It's not the awards or the satisfaction of seeing my work on the covers of magazines. It's the fact that it's put 2 kids through college, paid the rent and kept food on the table for most of my life.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I have a great sense of what images will sell your product. Many photographers shoot to illustrate, to show the product or space well.
I shoot to seduce the buyer with beautiful images. More than showing how a product or space look, I want to show how it feels to own and use them.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
No. I need to occupy the same space as the subject I'm photographing
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
The usual precautions. Masks, sanitizer, space... I've made a brochure explaining what I need the owners/sellers/clients to do in order to keep them (And me) safe. I'm fully vaccinated and take the attitude of "Better safe than sorry"
