THE PITA AND THE PENDULUM My opinion of this Mediterranean restaurant has swung from 'good' to 'needs improvement'. Pita Zone is in a Bolingbrook strip mall at the intersection of Weber Rd & Hassert; in this same area are a Subway, Dairy Queen and Otobo, our neighborhood sushi spot. You might be better off ordering online; when I placed an order in-person for a gyro and wrap, it took 20 minutes before it was ready.  TWENTY.  That's a long time for a couple of fairly speedy items.  Down the street, COVO or Fill-a-Pita can whip this up for you in 4-5 minutes, tops. Of these three places that offer gyros, Pita Zone's was the cheapest ($7.50).  Theirs was also the only one that included pickles on the sandwich (which my wife wasn't a fan of), but otherwise the gyro was fine.  You can add fries and a drink for $3.50. I liked the beef shawarma wrap ($8.50) that came with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, hummus and tahini sauce.  The lentil soup ($4) tasted pretty good.  I've gotten meat combos ($15) in the past that were fairly yummy and a decent value. Last visit, I specifically asked for a side of yellow rice but they gave me a side of fries--and they weren't even good ones!  I was really looking forward to that delicious Mediterranean rice (I even clarified yellow rice in case they misheard me, but apparently that didn't do sh*t). Just as I was getting my drink and leaving, I saw a bunch of ants in the soda fountain drip tray.  Not just a few, but a horde of black ants all over the place.  Apart from a rat stealing pizza, ants are one of the LAST things a customer wants to see at a restaurant.  Eeeeeee. * TL;DR * Pita Zone gets a 4/10 on the kebab-o-meter: despite some signs of promise (good value, decent tasting food), there were also lots of issues (inaccurate order, long wait times, bug sightings). While I'm happy to support small businesses like this one, I think PZ's shortcomings have ruled themselves out of conversation at this point.  COVO/Fill-a-Pita are technically chains, but at least they've got their act together and I'm willing to pay a bit more for that professionalism. Could do worse.  Could do better. Bad food, bad service. We ordered a gyros and a greek salad. Who puts pickles on a gyro sandwich and on a Greek salad? The pita and the meat were  not warm and the pita seemed stale! Salad was gross the dressing was good.   The owner it seemed was sitting in the restaurant at a table with other business people and the "kids" behind the counter seemed to have not cared one bit about their job or what they were doing. I know hard to find any help these days let alone decent but really Mr. owner?? I hope they figure it out. More...

A pretty good place to get in the zone for a pita and falafel. In Bolingbrook there's a shopping center and it has a few restaurants including this one. Pita Zone is among the better places. Fairly good prices on most of the items. The menu is friendly to vegetarians. Get a pita because it's what they focus on of course. It has a few to choose from. They have the usual kinds such as the Falafel Wrap. It's $6.99 for a pretty big one. This comes with cucumbers, hummus, lettuce, onions, pickles, tahini, and tomatoes. A nice thing is that it actually comes with plentiful falafel. This is crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. A difference from other places is that it's not burnt. The best sides include the Fattoush Salad. It's $3.99 for a pretty big one. This has a vinaigrette dressing with cucumbers, mixed lettuce, onions, parsley, romaine, and tomatoes. Has some pretty good and healthy items. It also has pretty low prices. There's lots to choose for vegetarians. More...

Order online today for the first time, when I went to pickup my order I was told by the owner that they missed my online order on accident, said it would be and 10 to 15min, and it sounded like he said he’d make it up to me, which I’m not looking for anything for free. When my wife Went back in, she had ask if the 5 free appetizers where charge to us because online it says spend $35 or more and get those for free, he had said we ordered it wrong and he cannot give us that, and didn’t make anything up to us but tell us we were slow today but got slammed, so I guess all that is our fault, when we got home, I threw all $65 worth of food in the garbage because there’s no point in trying the food if the service was terrible! We will never be back or recommend them because of some thing that was so simple to make right, what a shame! More...

I like Pita Zone but the inconsistencies are what upset me. I can go one time & it's satisfactory, then I go again & I feel cheated. I went this past Friday 11/19 for lunch. I ordered some falafel burgers and a falafel wrap. The last time I ordered a wrap it had like 2.5 falafel balls in it. Unsatisfactory for a $6 sandwich. This time when I went, the guy behind the counter asked if I ordered 2 falafel sandwiches. I ordered 2 falafel burgers but I found out why he called them sandwiches when I got home. I didnt have burgers I had smashed falafel between a bun. If you dont have a product...you should say so. I've never known McDonalds to give people ground beef sandwiches when they don't have burger patties. This place charges $7 per burger & that is not what I received. It was messy. My falafel kept falling from between the bun and the amount of falafel per sandwich was inconsistent. This is strike 2. You have 1 more time to pull a fast one before I no longer frequent. I've alrdy slowed down how often I consider coming here. You're either there to serve your customers or to serve yourself. More...

the food here is delicious. we got the "small" baba ganouj which was actually a pretty good size and SO good. the tandoori chicken was perfectly cooked to fall off the bone and was deliciously spicy and flavorful. the rice and yogurt sauce that came with it were the perfect pairing. the chicken shawarma pita wrap was great, the greens were really fresh and crunchy. the staff were super nice. we are hoping to come back when they make homemade baklava which is apparently very good!! I won't be going back. A Greek salad that was just handfuls of olives, chopped tomatoes, half a sliced onion (including the root end) and pickles. Maybe a tablespoon of gets cheese. Grape leaves were dry and the rice hard. Falafel came with no sauce so I didn't even try them. Me soon said they were dry. And the fries came from pita zone but they were NOT pita zone fries. I'm glad they're is port of peri peri and fill-a-pita close byWill not be back. More...

Decided to give this place another chance in almost 1 year after feeling like the quality of food was on the decline the previous few visits. I ordered the chicken shawarma to keep it simple and ease back into it...so I thought. There was an extended wait for no apparent reason before I casually walked up to the counter to inquire. The cashier saw me and remembered that the shawarma sitting wrapped on the counter was mine. He instructed a different employee to put 2 sauces in the bag and give it to me. The wrap was terrible. As others have stated, the quantity of meat is drastically reduced in comparison to competitors and previous purchases here. The food lacked typical Mediterranean flavor and ingredients...there were no pickles or hummus included to start. It was mostly filled with a bag-type iceberg lettuce mix and something that tasted like slaw sauce. The red sauce tasted like vinegar and the white sauce was a mystery, so I did not put any on the shawarma. I passed on leaving a bad review a couple of times before, but this one is necessary. Please get it together. More...

This place never fails to satisfy. The food has been delicious everytime I've come in and is truly authentic. The staff is very kind and pleasant, working very hard behind the counter even through big rushes. I've encountered some waiting time on some visits, but it's never too long and is totally worth it. I ordered from this restaurant under the name "Saucy Skewer" on Uber Eats. I wish I would have taken a photo of my order to show how disappointing it was. By far the worst meal I have ever ordered in my life. The kebab trio wouldn't have fed a 3 year old. No pita, the sides were incorrect and it included literally a 2 bites of each meat. Would strongly advise staying away from this scam. More...

I was very impressed with this new discovery! My girlfriend who is Greek introduced me to this and I just love it! If you're doing a low carb / high protein diet this place is totally to go. I thought it was super cheap for what you got. The spices weren't overpowering which I thought I'd dislike but nope I really enjoyed it! We each got got a Meat Lovers? plate which had everything imaginable to try. But full sized items no less. Two could easily split this cause this is just huge! I brought home enough food for an army. I am thoroughly disappointed in how cheap this place has become. The 1st time I ordered a large fry was the only time I ever really received one. Take my advice...order the regular fry...the only difference in ordering a large is they will put your bag worth of regular fries in a box and charge you more. I ordered a gyro for the 1st time. I asked if there was Tzatziki sauce. I was told there is sauce all over the sandwich so I declined extra. I don't eat my meat but if I did, I would be pissed about the small spoon of sauce right in the middle of the sandwich which is squat compared to the amount of meat. Then I got home & realized I was a falafel wrap short. I called and was told it was forgotten. The guy did apologize and I asked if I could take the 15 minute ride Allllllllllllllllllllllll the way from the other side of town to pick up my wrap and he said sure "I'll take care of it". It kinda pissed me off because I dont know what he's taking care of. Putting the sandwich in the bag? It damn sure wasnt anything offered for my trouble. He didnt take care of my time, extra mileage, or the gas sent taking 2 trips to this place for 1 order. It will probably be a while before I come back here....and then again maybe I never will, but IF I do...it will be sandwiches only, I'll stop some place else for an actual large fry. I feel cheated. I wish I didn't have this terrible experience but unfortunately I did and I feel like I need to make others aware. I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap and the gentleman who took my order told me the total and I thought it was a bit off so I asked and confirmed he got my order right and he confirmed. I thought alright I'll ask when I see him in person when I go in to pick up my order. So when I got to the shop and was about to pay, I asked him why there was a discrepancy in the menu price and what he was charging me. His response was "oh the prices have gone up, chicken is more expensive now". I told him while I can understand that, the menu online and in the store have the "old" price. He says "the IT guys need to update the menu and we have new menu on order". I thought to myself alright it's not a huge deal and I was hungry so I just paid the $1.00 extra. However when I got home and started eating the wrap, I noticed there was hardly any chicken in it. See my pic. This was not the case before. I've eaten their wrap a countless number of times and it has always been full of chicken (just the right amount, chicken/veggies ratio). This time there were far more veggies and hardly any chicken. I used to get full from the older wrap and after eating this one, I can prob eat another. Yes it's that bad! I feel like I got cheated by not only paying more (menu price was lower) but also having less chicken! I'm not expecting more but at least keep the same amount of chicken you served before! Idk this just doesn't sit well with me! More...
