As a business banker I know that it is necessary that clients have proper financials in order. Kelly at Pink Abacus is very meticulous and understands what is needed from many different angles. Having a person like this in your corner allows you focus more on day to day operations while the behind the scenes runs smoothly. More...

I've known Kelly for a few years and have been listening to her business presentations and how she approaches her business. I recently started my own business and she helped me get my books started the right way! It was easy and stress-free! She is very communicative and presents all possible solutions to find the best one for you. Highly recommend her. She is very knowledgeable about the complexities of taxes, accounting practices, and navigating the IRS. More...

Q&As

Accounts Receivable (invoicing, receiving payments, sending statements and working with customers), Accounts Payable (entering bills, adjusting inventory, making payments, vendor management), Reconciliations (adding transactions into categories that match their business and lines on the tax returns to match the statements), Payroll (adding/terminating employees I9/W4, salary/hourly management, deductions, garnishments, reimbursements), Worker's Comp Audit, Asset Management (making sure items over certain dollar amounts are tracked so that your tax professional can depreciate and save you money each year), W-2 and 1099 reporting at the end of the year.

Having a bookkeeper/accountant who can keep your information current is critical to be able to review information regularly and rely on it when making decisions and forecasting. Without accurate numbers, the reality is skewed and vital decisions can be impacted. Keeping accurate reports for employees and vendors impacts their livelihood and reduces the risks for misunderstandings and embezzlement. Without accurate numbers, the IRS can audit you and request all of your supporting documentation in order to validate your line items on your tax return. Having processes that protect your business, your investors, your employees, your equipment and you as an owner.

I love the puzzles people bring me. Everyone thinks their situation is the worst but they are all puzzles to me which need unraveling and then organizing. My touch of OCD comes in handy in this line of work!

I worked for a couple of former IRS agents for several years who were so old school that they got in they own way of growth often. I studied marketing and business management in addition to accounting in school and loved the opportunities available to build a brand. I have experienced health issues at times and having the flexibility to rest when needed and listen to my body was the best of both worlds.

I like to partner with my clients so that they feel like I understand their business and their goals. If the goal is to grow and expand, then lets work together to make the money available and set up the internal structure to support that growth. I also try to make things understandable to my clients. I love accounting and the numbers but most of my clients no not! The things I handle daily makes their skin crawl and they avoid the tasks creating a looming weight they are carrying around with pressure to get it done. By taking that weight off their shoulders and making terms, processes and situations understandable and manageable, it allows a business owner to focus on what they do best.

Services

Providing all the documents and totals to the worker's compensation agency in order to balance what was paid vs what is due. Sounds scarier than it is. It's really just like a tax return for worker's comp.
