The Banana pineapple cake was very good. The apple caramel rum was a very good, just a little bit too sweet for me. This was my second visit, I look forward to the next.

We went to Piece of Cake for an important promotion ceremony - Marilyn and the team there were patient with us through several design changes and stayed in contact getting feedback to ensure that what they were making was going to turn out the way we wanted. Marilyn and I talked 3-4 times the week leading up to the cake being picked up. She cared as much as I did about the cake turning out right. I have driven past this dozens of times, so when i needed a last minute cake, we stopped in. The space is chaotic and messy. The girl behind the counter was not friendly. We needed a cake for 10. I've tried a handful of different cakes from here and all of them were quite delicious! The thing to remember about their service is that it isn't going to be overblown, in your face customer service that's so common in America. You get what you ask for, and you have a lot of options to choose from. Not a single bit of disappointment from the cake.The only thing I would probably ever recommend to this place is that the decor is a bit oddly chosen. I ordered a carrot cake for a surprise party I was having for my girlfriend. She has a severe peanut allergy, and I am pretty sure the staff cleaned every nook and cranny of the establishment to ensure no peanuts were in contact with the cake. They are a little high, but cake quality and look is excellent. You definitely need to pay a lot more for a cheaper cake you could also get at a grocery store (Costco, Safeway, and Fred Meyer's).

We were in town for my son's 6th birthday and the hotel's restaurant is out of business and we needed a few pieces of cake. Found this place on uber eats, got two red velvet, two chantilly cake and two fantasy cake slices (there were 2 families of 5 sharing the cakes). In the uber eats order request area I asked if they could include a candle for his birthday...they included a candle, wrapped the box in pretty birthday ribbon and included a hand written note! Their lemon coconut cake is the best cake I’ve ever had. But aside from that they are incredible for custom cakes. We put together a concept for a custom cake for my dads 60th birthday and what they made exceeded our wildest expectations. I don't recall how I found this place 10 years ago, but I'm at least a monthly visitor and ask all grocers (that bring in their baked treats) if they carry @PieceofCakeBakery.
Sometimes I rather demand it.
Marilyn and her team #handsdown have the most incredible "alternative ingredient" cupcakes. I try them all and most literally melt...not these!! Seriously, you don't have to make sacrifices if you're DF or GF and enjoy cupcakes.
My uncle and his wife even got their wedding cake here many moons ago. It was a Mt. Shasta shaped cake. After talking about #s and $ variances, "mounds instead of mountains" was ordered. However, upon delivery, Marilyn's desire for
Artistic flare dictated MOUNTAINS, and it was amazing.
I have fond memories of their "normal" baked goods, but i am now #dairyfree. I even go so far as to buy my #DF cupcake at NSM Arbor Lodge and NSM Orenco anytime I'm there just so those stores don't stop carrying these...ever again.
I also have fond memories of the quirky vintage tea room with baking wall, stocked with retired baking gear, baking books, and tea room with costumes!! That said, the building has been going through quite a revamp and it's coming along beautifully.
I'm not an employee, just a very enthusiastic cupcake fan.
My only requests would be:
- know where else to find when I do t feel like driving to Sellwood
- options for wine at the bakery to enjoy with my cupcake(s).

Love Piece of Cake! I came across them via Uber Eats when we were in search of a tasty delivered dessert and OMG, I’m so happy I found them! Decadent deserts that will leave you satiated with leftovers and dreaming of the next one. The fantasy cake is divine! One small gesture that went very far for me - I had a request to add a touch of raspberry sauce to my slice and as simple as that sounds, it feels like when you order delivered food you rarely have those request honored ...not with Piece of Cake! The cakes here are a little expensive for cakes, but the flavors they have are fabulous. You can get cupcakes, whole cakes, slices of cakes, and a few other things they have on their menu.
We have bought two whole cakes from them now and they were both delicious.
The banana cake I bought recently is really good, but is a tiny bit sweeter than I would have liked. But I do not have a huge sweet tooth, so take that into account.
The last time we bought the German chocolate cake which had mixed reviews, but the flavors and cake itself were fantastic. Our only issues were... 1. My daughter does not like coconut meat, so she enjoyed everything but that. 2. I cannot eat nuts, but I pulled the whole pieces out and ate around them and everything else was really great.

The story: I was having a specialty cake made for my sister's 40th birthday when my friend's bakery couldn't make the cake a week before because of injury. In a frantic panic, I called about 20 bakeries and Marilyn called me back, saying "I want to help you." She was incredibly helpful and I ended up with the most hilarious (can't post a picture, it wouldn't be appropriate), delicious cake my sister and her friends will never forget. The cake was a chocolate espresso buttercream and it was amazing: moist, flavorful without being too rich (nicely balanced) and the best damn cake I could have hoped for.
