I have been taking piano lessons with Amy for almost 3 years I was a complete beginner. I started classes in person but with COVID and with everything shut down Amy began Zoom classes. While this is not ideal I have continued to attend and Amy does a wonderful job keeping each of us working at a comfortable pace. It is almost private lessons as she works individually with each person. This experience is really unique because each person’s level is different and yet I never feel intimidated by the others in our “class”.

I discovered Amy’s piano for adults surfing the Internet. I called Amy on a Saturday morning thinking I would get a call on Monday. Amy returned my call shortly after I called.

We talked quite awhile about my experiences with learning to play the piano as an adult. And to my delight she taught adults as a group of 6 in her studio .

She is very committed to helping us/me to getting to where we/I want to be and to help us to achieve our goals. I loved being in the studio. I am an individual who requires the personal interaction. She allows us to choose the piece we are interested in and she is great with knowing our limitations and knowing when to encourage us to take on a more challenging composition. She is very patient , pleasant and understanding.

Piano with Amy has been a great experience so far. I am taking online lessons with Amy, and I find that the online experience provides the same valuable instruction as if we were in-person. I find Amy’s approach to be very helpful. Not only does she provide 1:1 instruction, but she has many resources in her Google classroom (videos, instructional materials, demos) that allow you to practice independently when you are not in class. As I was reading the local newspaper several years ago, I read an article highlighting a local piano teacher who taught adult piano lessons, I saved it. Several weeks passed and I was still thinking about that article, so I made the call to Amy and began taking in person lessons. In Amy’s kind and patient ways, I have learned more about myself. I have learned that it takes more patience as a senior citizen to learn to play the piano and I do need to follow the foundational steps. Amy is extremely knowledgeable not only about piano but how to teach it. She understands the methods that don’t work well with traditional learning and offers workable options, making the experience enjoyable, like it should be.

Amy is a phenomenal piano teacher. As an adult learner, it can be a challenge but she keeps me focused and I can see the progress. I have gotten further from working with her for two months now than I did in 4 years of trying on my own.
She is very systematic but still allows the freedom to play the music that you enjoy. She is also very patient. I know that I have tested that on occasions and she has always reminded even. I take group lessons and can honestly say that she pays enough attention to each of us that we always gain something from each session.

I am giving Piano With Amy an excellent review because when I came in a year and a half or so ago I hadn’t touched the piano in 25 years and now I’m playing at an early intermediate level which I never thought I would be able to do again! Amy is so devoted to helping her students achieve their goals and has kept in contact through COVID-19! I’ve been taking piano lessons with Amy for about 2 years now, and it has brought some joy into my life after a bout with cancer and chemo. Amy is a great teacher and has a lot of patience with her adult/senior students. She is respectful and has a way teaching that makes her students feel comfortable at any level of playing. We learn different genres of music and are able to learn pieces of our choice. Amy teaches group piano and private lessons. She has been successful with continuing our lessons via Zoom. My online lessons with Amy have assisted me in improving my technique and musicality. I especially find helpful her suggestions of different approaches to try for techniques I have had difficulty in mastering. With Amy I have worked on classical music as well as beginning jazz improvisation. Besides her knowledge of music in these different areas she is always positive and encouraging in her online lessons.
