In this day and age with the infinite number of resources on the internet to learn music, private lessons better be well worth your time and money, and let me tell you, Val's lessons are indeed well worth it. From the get go, Val was able to pick up on what musical knowledge I had already and where my strengths and weaknesses lie. Every lesson is truly tailored to me.On that note (pun intended), what really is the point of having an instructor when you can learn how to read music and play on your own a-chord? Well I personally have benefitted a lot from having someone closely observe my playing and tell me right away what I could be doing better and what techniques I can adopt, which is key. Val has also been able to challenge and push me without putting stress or excess pressure on me, which can be a thin line to walk.In each lesson, there's never a minute wasted. It's always a full hour of constantly exercising my skills. You know when you bring a book or work to do to your flight gate or doctor waiting room in order to optimize on your time and productivity rather than the alternative mind numbing doom scrolling you would inevitably drift into? That is what lessons with Val feel like.Moreover, after just my first lesson with him, it was apparent how much knowledge he had to share. I came in here with a simple purpose: I wanted to be able to play classical music and have fun with it. My son was studying with a local teacher and really needed to take his practice to the next level. Â We found Val through a friend's recommendation, and one of the things we love about his teaching style is his energy! Â Val is youthful and fun, demanding but fair. Â My kid loves that they share a passion for F1 Racing too. Â Val is an exceptional piano instructor and we feel lucky to get to study with him. Valery has been my piano instructor for the past several months. I was a raw beginner when I started lessons with him and have been astonished with how quickly I have been able to grasp some of them more difficult concepts. Reading music was completely new to me and the way he walked me through and offered exercises has made this difficult and intimidating process much more simplified. He's an absolute professional and has an impressive commitment to his role. Thumbs up from a long-time pianist who learned a lot of bad habits and very little technique as a kid. Now at 34 I've given Val permission to rebuild my technique as I pursue even greater enjoyment of the piano. Not easy. Not comfortable. But in just a couple short months I've seen clear improvement. Val's willing to work with my schedule even though I can't commit very much time to practice. As a musician and music educator myself, I was very particular when it came to finding a piano teacher for my 9-year-old daughter. Â Valery has exceeded my expectations. Not only is Valery a highly skilled musician himself, but he is an excellent teacher. He is the perfect combination of being kind and patient as well as being strict and setting high expectations. I want to take this opportunity and hopefully help someone who is looking for top quality piano teacher, as we couldn't have been happier with Valery Goldes! My teenager son showed interest in piano and after some research- we have decided to try Valery's lessons. His teaching method is so inspiring, while being strict and expecting the student to do their best-he find the right method and technique to teach SO MUCH in such a short period of time! My son was a beginner and didn't even know the basics, but literally after 3 classes he learned to play small compositions by heart using both hands! Valeriy engages with the student to understand the goals and targets student is trying to reach, while also teaching music theory, ear training and many other skills, so the student doesn't just learn to how to play piano, but to also hopefully become a true musician! Being a pianist, and a teacher -- are two entirely separate skills. Valery excels at both of them. He understands how to break a concept into digestible parts, and I can imagine him being patient with students of any level, or age. Valery's teaching style is not overwrought with drills and exercises. It reflects a nice balance between discipline, and enjoyment of playing. He is flexible depending on your goals, and places a refreshing emphasis on creativity. I recommend Valery for all players; beginner, intermediate, or advanced. More...

I highly recommend taking lessons with Val!! I currently take in-person lessons with him at his apartment in Hollywood (we both always wear a mask so that's a HUGE plus! ) Â I had been playing piano since I was four but stopped lessons around middle school. I had never really focused on technique as a kid (mostly I just played what I enjoyed) But as I got older, I saw myself hitting a wall when playing harder pieces because I lacked the technical skills and stamina. So I decided to seek out someone who could help me focus on technique and building a classical repertoire.I came to Val in search of a piano teacher and mentor and he has so far exceeded those expectations! From day 1 he helped me figure out what areas I needed strengthening and has given me exercises that I can work on as well as clear outcomes for each week. Just after a few weeks of lessons with him, I've noticed big improvements in my playing as well as felt more confident! Â He also has helped me understand the pieces I'm playing harmonically and completely rewires how you read and understand the music using music theory. Â He is super motivating in helping you achieve your goals and sets realistic/manageable goals for each week to achieve them. Â I think especially as an adult who is trying to improve their piano skills and wants a deeper connection to music, it can be frustrating at times, and at times I used to feel that my practice sessions were a little misguided but Val has helped me identify goals to improve my technique with different exercises and pieces to help me refine those techniques. I sought out a piano teacher in hopes at becoming better at making my own music. Val has helped me so much, been very welcoming and understanding and has helped me learn a lot so far. I'm still taking lessons, but this far I think he is a great teacher. I've learned more about piano and theory in these last few weeks, and he's motivated me and supported me in songwriting. He takes my learning style into account and helps me visualize things that are new to me. Overall, I would recommend him, no matter your age or skill level. Val is a fun and encouraging piano teacher for our kids (10/13). He has high expectations but isn't demanding or high pressure and he cares about what the kids want to learn. My daughter likes rock and movie theme songs and my son likes to compose, so Val doesn't just pick the same, standard songs out of a music book, he tailors their lessons to their interests and strengths, while challenging them and making them more well rounded musicians. From my 12-year old...Before I began working with Val, I was never set on a straight path for piano. None of the previous teachers that I have worked with were very serious about my progress in piano. Normally, my piano playing was very in-and-out and never actually focused or aimed towards a goal. I didn't know how to play an actual piano piece that I could be proud of. However, when I began lessons with Val, starting on the first day, we began learning a song, and four weeks later, I was able to play it by heart. Val has an incredibly effective teaching method, which he used to help me greatly improve playing in such a short amount of time. He always tries to push our limits so that we feel dedicated to practicing. He acts serious when necessary, but he also likes to be entertaining in a way that somehow empowers you to want to play the piano. His dedicated yet fun teaching style really helps and he is very understanding when it comes to homework. When not all of the homework is completed, Val asks what was challenging and then helps you work on those specific parts. Additionally, he adjusts what he assigns to the homework based on the lesson and any difficulties with the previous homework. I've made a lot of progress since I began working with Val. Thanks!
