Perennial Gardens did a fantastic job replacing the railway ties around our patio, adding a garden box and rebuilding the retaining wall along our garage and sidewalk with Unilock bricks. Steve was very responsive and always stopped by to check on the progress. I’m very happy with the results and the price was definitely fair. More...

Integrity, responsiveness and efficiency are terms that come to mind regarding my experience with Perennial Gardens. In 2018, we purchased a large property in the back country of Greenwich that had been neglected for many years. Steve Alfano and the Perennial Gardens crews brought the property back to life in a very short period of time. They restored the sprawling lawns to green grass from the acres of weeds. They trimmed enormous old trees and carted away downed trees. They edged beds, mulched, pruned shrubs, planted flowers and replaced everything that had been lost due to neglect. It was a miraculous transformation. I was so impressed with their work that I went beyond my original plan of repair, restore and maintenance and had them design and build a large fenced raised garden, complete with beautiful cedar planters. I was not surprised to learn that they even offer planting and harvesting services for my new vegetable garden. My next project currently in the works is a large wildflower bed with a meandering gravel path. Not only are they a pleasure to work with, but they are honest and clear as to the scope, timeframe and cost of each project. I would highly recommend them for general maintenance or any garden project, big or small! More...

I have used the landscape and design services at Perennial Gardens for nearly eight years.
The level of professionalism and quality is unequaled. Steve and his crew provide the highest level of quality regardless of the scope of the work. The estimates are nearly exact and communication before, during and after the project is consistent and timely. More...

When we bought our house, we had an enormous challenge. A huge section of our sloped backyard had been ignored for decades. Overgrowth, toppled walls, dangerous erosion and various strucrures in disrepair, some ready to fall. A garage that rained INSIDE due to the disrepair of its flat roof and hundreds of pounds of soil and stone on top of it.
Sean Alvarez and his crew were the perfect people for our job. He listened, first. Answered a hundred questions and patiently showed us all the options available to us. Throughout the months of the job he was always available for our many questions and always ready to stop by the site to check on the work.
Every time we look out our widows and see what is now a beautiful green vista, we are so glad that we hired Perennial Gardens to do the job.

Working with Steve Alfano, we have done two projects. The first was more extensive with boulders and other plantings- deer resistant- to add summer color to our view. The second was for an area where we installed a pergola.
Steve was helpful, knowledgeable and an easy person with whom to communicate. The plantings have been in place less than a year, so we are looking forward to seeing our results this summer. We also engaged Perennial Gardens to do bed clean-up and fertilization for this spring.

Steve Alfano, from Perennial Gardens, was fantastic! We had a pretty good idea what we were looking for to start. However, after having received quotes from a couple competitors, not only did Steve, and Perennial Gardens, come in with a quote half the size of it's competitors, Steve was also able to make several suggestions that really made the property and plantings "pop". We hired Perennial Gardens entirely off an extremely positive referral for someone who worked with Steve Alfano. We had just bought a home and wanted to level out our extremely slanted and stone riddled backyard. We were also considering several other side projects. Steve was honest, knowledgable and was actively telling us elements of the job that weren't necessary and would save us money, which is so refreshing to see from a contracting professional. Not sure you can beat the quality/cost combination from Perennial Gardens. The best thing I could say about them is that we're planning another project this year and we will be using Steve and Perennial Gardens again.

Note: Before and after photos attached. For the after photo, imagine all that dirt now covered in green grass and look at all the stones aligned against the new opening in the deck. Previously, there was a four foot drop off the deck and now you can walk right off the deck into the yard.

The work is exquisite. Steve comes to discuss all work and has a catalog of many stone work styles. He always sends me a detailed estimate. Whenever I have had a question he has returned my call or email immediately. His team of masons are experts and very careful. I have been so pleased with the work they have done. After dealing with too many contractors that didn't even return phone calls, I was referred to Perennial from an landscape designer that is well respected. Steve returned my call and set up an appointment in the middle of the summer within 48 hours, which was appreciated.
His assessment of the project seemed spot on and he listened to what we were trying to achieve in regards to aesthetics and drainage. The project was wrapped up in less than 2 weeks, and stayed on budget.
The only reason I can't do 5 stars is that it wasn't made clear that the drainage pipe would be installed which means ripping up part of the yard to run a pipe, so now I'm missing grass and need to pay for new turf.
However, I love having our new blue-stone patio and would like to use Perennial for other projects in the future.

Throughout the course of the renovation, Sean Alvarez was a consummate professional. He was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. He was absolutely clear in his record keeping and time log. He chose and managed the sub-contractors well.
Our job was done with care and precision. In addition, he is extremely clean and tidy in the workplace. He and his workers never left the worksite in disarray. Good work takes time to complete. Patience is required when you work with a perfectionist. Although our project took time to complete, I think we have a wonderful outcome and a work of art.
