I think most folks would consider this a five star, but I do have my reasons. I truly enjoy the varied and complete Italian menu. The food is excellent and the service is usually quite competent. My issue that results in a one-star loss is that Peppinos is somewhat a victim of it's own success. I call it the Disneyland syndrome. It's easier to raise prices if the crowds keep coming. The menu prices at Peppinos have been slowly rising. What was good solid mid priced Italian has changed to a more high priced Italian on certain menu items.I still enjoy the experience, but Peppinos is no longer a best buy. We were in town from Texas for girls Hockey Nationals. Hands down- the best italian food we've ever had! Seafood was very fresh, pizza was yummy and the bread is fresh and homemade- Delicious! We went to get some lunch at the restaurant with some out of town friends and were seated outside by the water. We ordered a few things to sample, ravioli with lobster, cioppino, caprese, and a pizza. The ravioli came with generous sauce (good for bread dipping), the cioppino came with a separate side of pasta and the pizza (the works) came with fresh and delectable toppings and the dough was not soggy. Service was prompt and courteous since we were there quite early and were seated as soon as we arrived. Every one in our party seemed to enjoy their selection and commented that the food did not taste salty like most other restaurants. They forgot our caprese and so did we and just remembered it when we were almost done eating. The wait staff was nice when we asked that the order be cancelled. We love this family kids friendly-Italian restaurant. We never had to wait for a table. Always excellent quality food. Lake view is amazing if you sit outside. Service quality depends on the server but always good on average. They replaced old chairs for comfortable ones, thankfully. We came in from out of town and just happened upon this place and it was GREAT!!! We had lasagna, chicken parm, alfredo, pizza, salad and the bread, It was all KILLER! The bar was nice as were the employees. The prices very reasonable and we are kicking ourselves in the rear that we did not order antipasto salad, allo pesto and garlic bread to take home with us for the next day.
