Love the concept behind peace nation, not only that but the vegan menu and food are just amazing. All four of us raved about our dishes and left very happy. The prices are also extremely reasonable for the freshness and high quality. It's super cute on the inside, a nice place to just grab a drink or a full Latin meal. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area! More...

What a hidden gem! Be prepared to take your time and enjoy a leisurely homemade breakfast with amazing coffee in a warm, inviting luncheonette style cafe (one note: they no longer have a bakery so don't get your hopes up for muffins, guava bread, etc. ).  Free refills on medium regular coffee (which my husband had) but I went with their cafe con leche ($3 for medium, so good I had two). For breakfast we had chilaquiles --an ample portion of puffy tortilla chips, two fried eggs, avocado, refried beans, red sauce (and we asked for crema as well)--a tasty concoction that hits the spot if you've had drinks the night before! We also had a side of yummy fried plantains. Don't let the scruffy street stop you from trying out this cozy spot for a friendly , tasty start to the day. More...

Great food and even greater people. I love their mission and philosophy. We had eggs w/tomatoes n onions, beans, sour cream, plantains and tortillas. Good conversation with others topped off the meal. Coffee was good but the plantains made the meal. Hard to find good plantains. More...

So this is one of those places that screams, edgy and cool, but in a good way. They are very serious about their food and coffee, and it shows.  The place is cute and comfortable, But I don't recommend eating in their outside garden. It's very rustic, bordering on dirty and very unkept. Eat inside. Lol. Anyway, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful with the menu. The coffee was probably one of the best cups my husband and I ever had. And I mean it. I asked for a decaf latte with 1/2 and 1/2 and it was heaven in a mug. My husband had their regular coffee, and had 3 cups! The food is delicious. I had the Chilaquiles, which was fabulous. I almost licked the plate. My husband had the tacos, and raved about the flavor and quality of the meats and toppings. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular for sure! More...

My first time at Peace Nation today for lunch. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the warmth of the table in the front window. I ordered a matcha green tea latte with  almond milk. Yum. My garnachas arrived looking very pretty with pink cabbage in the middle of the 4 mini flat taco shells with vegan beef crumbles. It was very good but I would recommend a little more spice and flavor. I would still order it again! I appreciate the philosophy posted in the cafe. I'll be back to try more at Peace Nation. More...

As a first timer at Peace Nation we were hopeful that the great reviews would pay off for us. Well, they didn't disappoint! The flavor was 5 star without the use of excess fat or salt that is the usual for most breakfast places. Cute interior and exterior with friendly service. Perfect portions left us satisfied and we can't wait to return and try more of the menu :) More...

Great staff and great food. Nothing was greasy or oily, food tasted fresh and had great flavor. We left full but not bloated like some places do, definitely recommend as a good place to eat and have a good conversation with coffee.

Had a great breakfast here before leaving the Catskill region this past weekend. This is a pretty low-key environment set up almost like a diner but with artwork for sale on the walls. The waitress was very kind and patient with our ever indecisive tendencies. I had the breakfast sandwich (egg, cheese, and chorizo patty). The chorizo was awesome. I'll be back. More...

Delicious Latin American cafe! Vegetarian and Vegan friendly.  I ordered the empanada special (I veganized it).  The empanadas were supposed to be filled with faux meat crumble (from what the menu stated), but it was only filled with potato which was slightly disappointing, yet still yummy.  I'm vegan and with it being my first time there, I didn't know they had a separate vegan menu.  Next time I will order from that menu.  I recommend this place if you want a tasty, filling, Latin home-style cooked meal. I was compelled to write this review because I'm a die hard fan of Peace Nation, although I don't get to go out much I try to have breakfast there relatively often. I read a couple of the negative reviews and was sad with their experiences as well, because the people who run this place are genuinely great people who believe in great food. The Tecam Uman is my favorite. (I think thats how you spell it!)Today it was busy and yes, service was a bit slower, our coffee took a bit of time to get filled up - however the food was fantastic like always and the server/owner remained calm and maintained general contact. I'll always be back when I have the time! More...

Experienced their Vegan night.  The Peace burger was amazing, very flavourful and the fries were crispy. My boyfriend got Baleadas with meatless crumbles. He absolutely loved it. For dessert we had the Pumkin tamalitos, a fall twist on the tamal. It was so delicious and creative. Overall, this was great experience. Love the ambiance, very peaceful and colourful. The art displayed was beautiful as well. The service was attentive and prompt. Such kind owners! It's great that they have vegan options for everything on their menu too. I enjoy seeing the local art on the walls and knowing that we are supporting a young family as they build a shining, new business in a block of kingston I used to just drive past. I love the garden breakfast which looks and feels like eating the whole rainbow. :) The plantains are so delicious! The pupusas are fabulous. So good! Super vegan friendly which is a huge plus for me but also still offers meat and dairy (for my husband). I got the tofu scramble with the beet salad instead of the sweet plantains. It was all so good. Also got a smoothie which was also delicious (they even have vegan protein they can add!) My husband got an egg and cheese sandwich with rice and beans. Really cute vibes in the place, fun artwork for sale on the walls and the staff was very friendly. It wasn't busy when we went in late morning on a Saturday. Seating is limited so if you are a bigger party I would recommended calling ahead and making a reservation. The food is Guatemalan and the waitress told me they can virtually make anything on the menu vegetarian or vegan (they have a couple different faux meats) I can't wait to go back and try some other items. Yesterday a group of us at work decided to order from PN... let me say.. AWESOME!!! I ordered the Tamal de Polo; which unfortunately they were out of for the day but it was suggested to me to try the Chuchito and it was delicious! ! You get 2 in an order and they are very filling and taste amazing! I also ordered the Tamal de Elote which was sweet and tasty... I almost treated it as my dessert. With that a side of avocado and black beans (good portion sizes). We were all very happy with our selections and I can't wait to go back and try something different and eat inside the restaurant. We called around 10am and asked for an 11:30 delivery and were promptly dropped our lunches at 11:30. I usually take pictures of my food and wish I had because it really was a nice looking plate of food. Highly recommend the Chuchito...can't wait to go back and try more! More...

I finished eating 3 seconds ago and jumped on yelp to find a place to express how delicious my food was. I don't write a ton of yelp reviews - only when so moved. I got a strange little bit of everything takeout order (small tomale called "chuchito", an order of plantanos frito, and and egg/cheese sandwich with side of salsa)  and it was great.  Tasty, fresh, made to order on their flat top grill while I watched and sipped coffee. Peace Nation Cafe is a new Guatemalan restaurant that just opened up a couple of weeks ago in Kingston. I came for breakfast and ordered the El Chapin (scrambled eggs, tortillas, beans, cheese and crema) with an iced coffee. The tortillas were made that morning and came out warm from the oven. I love a thick homemade tortilla and this hit my craving. The crema (similar to sour cream) was amazing and mixed perfectly with the beans. I don't think I've ever had Guatemalan food before but I felt it was a bit bland, a salsa or sauce would compliment the dish well giving it more flavor (I added hot sauce). The coffee was good and prices were fair ($10 for my breakfast). The owner was very nice and I enjoyed chatting with him while I waited for my food. I will certainly be back and am excited to try more of their dishes! They are still putting the finishing touches on the interior and the owner said there will be an outdoor patio later this year. I recommend you give this new restaurant a try! More...
