Love love Peace Café. A real gem. It's surprisingly difficult to find healthy food on this island. So much meat and many disgusting foods in Hawai'i. It's not at all one of my "great food" destination trips. It's the coasts and the mountains. But thankfully there are some places and thank goodness for Yelp to seek them out. This place is located by a park. I believe I saw a sign with parking available in the back of the plaza but it was a small lot. Maybe five or six cars can fit.. we got lucky and parked right out front; street parking. When we walked in, I didn't realize how small this little restaurant was. There was a big table in the middle for like, family style. There was like a bar seating type near the window. About 4 small tables around that.. it's difficult to find seats. Okay. So, my fiancé and I aren't vegans but we were with out vegan friend. && I really enjoyed my Tofu poke plate with tofu katsu on the side! It was tasty and flavorful! The onions in the poke were delicious. My chai latte was kind of earthy. It was good at first but when I kept drinking it til the bottom, it got a lot of cinnamon down there. I'm on a blended diet. I have Dysphagia, I can no longer swallow. I ordered the Tempeh BBQ plate and asked them to blend it up for me with the consistency of a creamy soup. I told them to thin it out with water. After a few moments, the friendly cashier asked if they could blend it it with their Miso soup instead. The ingredients were fine with me, so I said go ahead. I'm from Hawaii but live in Los Angeles where vegan food is around every corner but nothing compares to Peace Cafe. I fantasize about this place more than what is probably a healthy amount. Came here with a friend. This is an all vegan cafe so I was excited to try their food. It is a small cafe, limited seating, with street parking. I had the Peace Sampler and was a bit disappointed. The food didn't have much flavor, basically various foods cooked without much spices or other ingredients. The scrambled tofu was cold. My friend had the burrito and said it was good. We found this cute place which is all vegan and seemed to have good food. I was interested in Katsu sandwich and hubby wanted to try Katsu curry plate. Unfortunately, they were out of Katsu and would have taken 1 hour to make more. We couldn't wait additional hour with the baby so we perused the menu to look for something else. They received a phone order cancellation for katsu and came to inform us that they have 1 katsu available. Hubby ordered his katsu plate and I went with Hanoi sandwich.the food was good. Hanoi sandwich had veggies with peanut sauce and fried tofu. I wish there was some spicy sauce as peanut sauce seemed too sweet. They did give me some aioli which went well with the sandwich. If you want delicious, innovative, fresh vegetarian food, and you don't care at all about ambience, this is the place to come. I love all the creative meal options at Peace Cafe, and the desserts are awesome too. I just wish they would update some of their decor though. Like maybe change out the seat cushions and the table tops? It would just feel a little cleaner when dining in. The service and the food and everything else is tops. Especially if you're going to be open for dinner (till 8 pm!), you might want to spruce up the interior. It'll make people want to stay to eat and the place will look more busy. Just a thought. This cute vegan place is small but was very delicious.  They have a book menu to show what everything looks like.I was going to originally order the TacoRice but the guy at the register convinced me on the day's special of Curry rice.  It did not disappoint.  It came with a small salad and sprouts.My husband ordered the Katsu plate.  Basically fried tofu. This place is my favorite vegan place! I always get the Heart and Seoul and a matcha latte with almond milk. An all vegan spot in Honolulu. Worth the easy walk from Waikiki. I had the Poke plate and was impressed. The white dressing on the greens wasn't my style, but I don't like dressing in general. The place is cozy but bright and welcoming. I can't say the same for one member of the staff, unfortunately. We all have bad days, so hopefully it was a one-off. Regardless, I'll be back before leaving town and hope for a more welcoming cashier. In contrast, the staff member that brought my food out was very friendly and full of smiles. I was happy to see both locals and travelers in the cafe. If you don't want to eat inside, there's a nice park next door with benches and ample shade from trees. More...

I had the katsu platter and it was delicious! I was really impressed with the sugar free katsu sauce and the fact that there's no sugar in any of the menu items. However, I was a bit confused as to why they were out of so many menu items when we were there at 5/6PM. First time going to Peace Cafe and it was more than I couldve expected! Staff is so friendly and you instantly feel welcome. I got the curry katsu which was apart of their special of the day. (Reg. Katsu on menu) Let me tell you, this tofu katsu is amazing! My GF got the tofu scramble with the soup of the day and each bite satisfied our hunger! Dont let the prices intimidate you to think you're paying for a tiny serving size, it was huge we had to take home the extras. One of my favorite spots for vegan food on Oahu. On this visit I went with the daily special, Katsu Curry, and it was amazing. The yellow curry sauce on panko breaded tofu came with brown/black rice and greens topped with coconut bacon. The curry sauce was thick and just the right amount of spicy. My cravings as of the late have been healthy... which led me to Peace Cafe! I wasn't extremely hungry so I decided to share a full-size sandwich ($11) and miso soup ($3. 50 with entree). Today's miso soup was very flavorful and full of veggies and mushrooms.We ordered the cilantro hummus sandwich and we were surprised by how large it was! The bread is warmly toasted but still very soft. It was like whole wheat ciabatta. They definitely don't skimp on the veggies inside either. Love that this place is 100% vegan and love the name so I had to try it. I had the lemonade to drink which had mint, turmeric and blueberries. It was so delicious and refreshing. For my meal I got the peace sampler because I wanted to try a little of everything. I'm not 100% sure exactly what was in it. There were a few different preparations of tofu, brown rice, avocado, carrots, different seaweeds, topped with salad. I thought each individual item was interesting and tasty on it's own. I really liked the two tofu preparations. One was a scramble and one was  poke inspired. But I'm not sure everything went well together on the same plate but it was fun to try different things. If I'm in Honolulu again I would come back but either get the tofu scramble plate or the poke bowl as opposed to the sampler but that's the point of a sampler to learn what you like best. More...
