Working with Jodi was a very helpful and empowering experience for us. We came to her with our 1yr 3month old border collie in November 2018. We were having some fairly serious aggression issues towards a variety of different triggers. Jodi was patient with our dog and he bonded with her very quickly. She explained the behaviors we were seeing and what they meant and gave us tools to manage, control, and help curb some of the negative behaviors we were seeing. We worked diligently in between meetings and saw results. We realized areas where our dog could grow and improve, and other areas where we had to recognize his limits and create a space to manage him safely. I met Jody from Pawsitive Directions after I fostered a beautiful dog named Waverly from the OAHS! Waverly was stressing out at the shelter and needed a home and I was looking to foster a dog and maybe adopt. My girl is a bit territorial and had some issues and Jody was a wonderful and helpful resource. She came to my home and gave me many tools to help my girl succeed. We hired Jody when we welcomed our new golden retriever in our home in April, 2018. We wanted to start off on the right foot, as a big dog with bad manners is never a good idea. Jody predicates her training on positive training, which made Finley adore training times with her, and with us. Her training focused to only his actions, but also our responses to bad behavior.Jody's 1:1 help and suggestions nipped bad habits immediately, and we watched our rambunctious puppy turn into a well behaved young adult. With her guidance over three in home lessons (one every 1.5 months), we welcomed 30 people into our home for a Thanksgiving dinner, ages 3-89, without ANY incidents of jumping, begging our inappropriate dog stuff from Finley at age 9 months. She has practical solutions to every issue from mouthing to jumping and everything in between. You get what you pay for in dog training, and you want to do it RIGHT. My extremely high energy and easily distracted border collie mix, Keita, and I were referred to Jody by our agility trainer and I couldn't be happier. We've taken the Basic Manners, Basics and Beyond and Tricks classes so far. Jody's training methods (and patience) have provided obvious results that created a better relationship between me and my dog/agility teammate. I recently shared my experience with Keita on Halloween night. "I was a little concerned because she's usually super excited about guests and seems to really like kids, so I worried about her rushing the door or being nervous about the costumes and barking, but...she stayed at the top of the stairs, curiously and quietly watching the activity. I was very nervous to take our 10 month old, larger sized lab to our first class. I was worried that he wouldn't be able to remain in class & would have to have individual classes.
He's an in your face kind of guy, pulled hard, & just overall very easily stimulated. He loves ppl & other dogs just not sure how to handle either.
Jody was a world of knowledge!! On the first night I could see Jody just trying to mentally size him up & how to help us. We love our guy & want the best for him. She wants the same for both dog & owner. Our guy still has his moments of over excitement but we now know how to recognize them & use the tools to help him adjust. Jody is amazing & well deserved as she has dedicated herself to helping doggies & families. I'm SOOO glad I made the choice I did and there isn't another person I would trust more....
Also, she would take him as an example during class, he listened to her instantly! He knew she doesn't mess around :)

Jody was wonderful with our family situation and our high energy husky. A very difficult breed to train but the best thing we could have ever done! !! So patient with everyone and every dog. We took our 12 month old puppy here for puppy training and I'm so happy we did!!!! Jody has some really great insights and ideas on how to help you out and get you motivated to train your dog in the way you want. Our dog was potty trained in under one month (okay a few accidents after a month, but still, we couldn't believe it!) I do think this had to do with going to doggy training, speaking with Jody, and working really hard every day (plus stopping home at lunch and den training).
