Safe and clean. Professional and caring staff. Members are responsible and respectful of one another. Children, youth, and young adults has a healthy lifestyle. The swimming pool and dry sauna is clean up to code. Gym equipment and rooms provide an opportunity for great workout. The facilities are very clean and they have a lot of cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, pool, sauna, steam room, and really nice showers. Â There are usually many lanes open for swimming so it's rare to have to share a lane. Â Lots of options for classes, though most are during the day which isn't great if you work 9-5: yoga, pilates, spin class, zumba, pound, aqua aerobics, and barre. Â The front desk folks are friendly and there are ample lysol wipes, which people seem good about using. Â The hours are also generous during the week, so even though it's crowded at peak times, you can come really early or really late if you want to avoid the crowd. More...

This was a fancy YMCA with a nice shiny pool and tricky parking in a couple of lots around the area. It wasn't too painful getting in, although it wasn't straightforward. I actually did swimming here which I almost never do. It went well and the pool was actually available. Pretty decent if a little small in the weights section regard. Pretty good nevertheless. This is a great YMCA. Love the equipment & people. Never had an issue. My biggest complain is the gym usage at night. Half the gym is blocked off for this equipment that no one really comes in to use & the other half is filled with people trying to use the gym for what it's designed for & that's to play basketball. Also, they need better basketballs to use for the patrons & enforce that the kids there stop hogging the YMCA basketballs (grabbing the YMCA balls & placing their jackets & belongings around them, putting them by the window) & using their personal basketballs to keep people from coming in, picking up a ball & freely playing. This is a great space since it's renovation. Parking not the best, but can always park on Centre St, and aren't we looking for exercise? To use the machines it is best to go on non-peak hours. I have my 8 year old & 6 year old enrolled here for their summer camp program and its the best! My kids loves it. They are out on field trips everyday and even if it rains they come up with a plan B. I highly recommend their camp to any parent. My kids have been able to go to many different and new places I have never heard of and had lots of new experiences. The staff are great as well. This is the newly-developed West Roxbury YMCA which is called the Parkway Community YMCA. New equipment, new pool, new Auditorium. It is really clean and modern and they did a great job. The only caveat is that it gets really crowded after work and almost impossible to join the Zumba class on a Monday, however, the space is well used by local residents. It's a very family affordable and one of the nicer YMCA gyms. They also offer daycare on site.There is a variety of exercise classes scheduled Monday through Sunday. You can book your classes online so you're guaranteed a spot. They have a separate schedule for the pool. They offer swim lessons and group classes for all different ages and they also have personal trainers on site.My only complaint about this site is the coed steam room which is located at the pool. It is accessible to anyone but considering I am a private person, I don't really appreciate men lathering shaving cream all over their bodies and not considering other people's space. This one time, my eyes started burning because of the fumes. I was pleased to see that there was a note the following week posted in front of the sauna saying you're not allowed to use any lotions or products. More...

Very nice place. For now they are kind in the middle of renovation process and gym with machines is on the basketball room, but that's totally fine. Stuff is very nice and ready to help!
