What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The secret to creating good photographs is a connection with the client, putting them at ease and the ability to keep calm. Not all sessions may go as one plans, but the ability to think on my feet and the ability to connect with people is what will make a great session that will create a great photograph.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I always start with asking what kind of session they are looking for, listen to their ideas, ask about the people involved, who makes the decisions, and go from their. A lot of my questions are open ended and a go with the flow. I like to have an idea on where their photographs will be displayed and if a client can provide video or images of their walls that helps me as well to have a vision of the necessary images I need to create.
What do you love most about your job?
Being able to create lasting memories for families. Creating beautiful wall art that can be handed down from generation to generation and that makes a family proud to have them hanging on their walls.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I'm an independent person and like having my own schedule. Working for myself allows me to have creative freedom as well as time with my family. My children and husband are my number one fans and my number one priority. Having my own business allows me to pick and choose when I work and when I need time to be with them.
Why should our clients choose you?
There are many amazing and qualified photographers, but there are also many people who now own a cell phone that can be used to create pretty good photos. But, I go an extra step or two to help people with decision making, ie: clothing choices, locations, art work, where to display that art work in their homes, and how to preserve their memories beyond a thumb drive!
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes, once a photo session is complete if my client is from out of town I can use Google Meetings or Zoom to "meet" with my client and go over their session and help them decide on what products they would like to order. Very similar to my in person sales meetings, just via the internet instead. I still provide the best quality service.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Honestly, I haven't made any changes to my procedures. If a client asks me to wear a mask I will, but all of my sessions are outside and I don't believe a mask is necessary at this time. IF I'm sick I will do my best to reschedule if need be.
