It's a good sign that arriving customers are greeted by name. Obviously a favorite spot for locals.  My waitress was very helpful with suggestions and the breakfast special, Crab Omelet, sounded delicious! Upon recommendation of reviews, I started with a biscuit and their homemade tomato jam. They serve their biscuits split and griddle toasted with their jam. So delicious I bought a jam of jam to take home!Understanding that their large, approximately 8-9 inch, pancakes are a favorite of customers, I ordered the PVC pancakes. These are basically blueberry pancakes topped with a blend of oats and nuts. Textured, crunch and the pop of blueberries make for an interesting, delicious palate pleaser.  Pancakes served with real maple syrup. Breakfast and lunch served all day. On a trip to the Cloisters, we ventured off campus and found this little gem. They put a fresh spin on breakfast. We had the Coastal Delight and it was just that; a delight. I wish I could give this place 7-8-9-10 stars. The food is amazing!!!! Best food on the island as far as I can tell. Service was excellent and friendly. Great atmosphere here at Palmer's. It's always a good sign when you arrive for breakfast and there's people waiting outside the door. I highly recommend the Challah bread French toast. Karen ( waitress) is HORRIBLE AND RUDE and I will not be going backKAREN IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. We love this place for the food, but the staff is horrible and I won't be going back. She walked away in the middle of my friend ordering because it wasn't happening fast enough, and went to the back to mock her and complain to another employee. She THEN HAD THE AUDACITY to blame my friend instead of apologizing when I called her out on the behavior. She is terrible and rude and I'm unsure how she still has a job. Stopped in here for breakfast with my girls while on a mini vacation to the area. We were immediately seated in this cute cafe. Ambiance: Has all the typical cafe vibes--was open, light, and casual. The kitchen was open, which I always enjoy. No complaints!Food: Food was good! Everything came out quickly and as expected. Servings, especially the pancakes, were more than filling. I had the Coastal Delight Omelet with the breakfast potatoes which I really enjoyed. The herbed cheese was a really nice touch!  My eldest went for the Full Monty which she enjoyed as well. My middle just wanted pancakes and bacon. Simple, yet a win. We also opted for a side of cheese grits and I'm glad we did. They were yummy!Service: Our server was warm, bubbly, and attentive. Ordered steak and eggs, asked for my steak medium rare and eggs over medium. Eggs came with yolk cooked through, which I sent back. Another member of my party also ordered eggs over medium, and his were also overcooked. I kept on eating, and a few bites into the steak I realized the inside was completely raw, unacceptable having ordered medium rare. I had already bothered my server enough and didn't want to send my food back yet again, so I ended up just eating the eggs and leaving most of the steak (so I basically ended up paying $13 for some eggs and breakfast potatoes).  I love steak and frequently cook it at home and order it at restaurants, and I've never had results come out this bad. Some people may like their steak cooked like this but I personally can't stomach it. Maybe my mistake for ordering steak at a brunch place, but still. I still will give two stars because the service was pretty good and the rest of my party enjoyed their meals. Had I ordered anything else, this would likely have been a pleasant dining experience. Food is outstanding. Seriously good. My maple bacon French toast could start wars. And my husband enjoyed his egg bacon and cheese biscuit very much. Coffee was delicious as well. We got pancakes and plain French toast for the kids to go. They loved it all. Side note here. The waitress with a long blonde pony tail could slice ice with her attitude. We asked one question of who we are suppose to order from and got an angry belligerent rant from her. I got whiplash. For real.It was truly so bad.But the food is amazing and other servers here are so nice. Tip. Maybe just walk directly to the back and get a table away from the very mean woman up front? If you don't want to wait in line, get there early! There will be a line and it's worth it! Waited a little over an hour but the grub was definitely on point! 6 of us might have added to the wait but all ordered something different and everything was delicious! I really like the different take on omelettes, not just your average ham and cheese... the Full Monty was 5 stars, different take on French toast! had read a review and wanted to try Palmers when we arrived ww were told a 45 minute wait which we waited as we waited there host came out a few times and i seen a few groups that we were ahead of go into seat after 45 minutes i walked in after seeing a couple that signed up to wait go in so i asked host if we were next and he said yes well we waited outside for another 15 minutes and host came out again and took a few groups that were after us on list again so we left ,I have never ever seen anything so obvious in my life i have never posted a negative review of any sort to any restaurant .
