Despite having a signed contract and email correspondence agreeing to hold my reservation for an additional day in order to make the payment, they released the property. Renters beware: Terrible experience! We started noticing bites the morning of our departure and it has worsened and reached out to let them know. The rental company will not compensate us our stay in a house infested with bed bugs!! Not to mention the stress, time and disgust this has caused us. They are trying to pull they don’t know if we could have brought them in the house which is absolutely ridiculous if they knew anything about the life cycle. More...

My husband and I also stayed last week with my daughter and her husband and two young grandchildren at the home previously being talked about with the bug bed infestation. My son in law developed a rash at the end of our rental week. My daughter developed the same rash after arriving home. They were sleeping in the master bedroom. They contacted Outer Blue and the company has confirmed bed bug infestation. My daughter and son in law have been dealing with a lot of discomfort. They have had to wash everything on high heat, throw out all luggage and other belongings that were at the house. It has been a horrible and costly ordeal! Outer Banks Blue Vacation Rentals was very rude to my daughter and actually implied they could have brought them into the house. They also told her it is one of the risks of traveling. Apparently they know nothing about bed bug infestation. Both my daughter and son in law are doctors and they do know. Also 3 people stayed at their home while they were gone to take care of dogs and they have no evidence of bed bugs. My husband and I have traveled extensively in our 60 plus years and owned and rented a beach house in South Carolina for many years. We have never dealt with one bed bug incident! But our rental home was very clean, unlike the one we just stayed at and all of our mattresses and pillows were encased, unlike this one. This house was dirty and in disrepair in other dangerous ways, especially for young children. It is very sad that this rental company and owner of the home is ok with that. More...

We stayed a few weeks ago for a week.. House was disgusting when we went in! It was FILTHY!!!!! Why pay a cleaning fee when they obviously do not clean? My family and I have been going for years to the obx.. not once have we ever experienced anything like that! The company/ front building were aware or everything (finding a used bandaid on the rug in the living room, white handrails black from so much dirt, spiders EVERYWHERE inside and outside (literally couldn’t even sit outside on any of the decks, we had to clean for 2.5 hours to be able to enjoy it for a few hours each day), the pool cleaner didn’t come by not even once during our stay so the pool was disgusting until we cleaned it, the hot tub was full of sand, dirt, leaves, spiders, and wasn’t able to be used because it was so nasty, the coffee pot had thick black mold in it, the washing machine had black mold all in it so we werent able to wash our clothes the whole stay, the dishes in the cabinets had chunks of food on them, our feet would get covered in dirt and crumbs everywhere we walked, and out of everything we told them about they sent maintenance in to only change a door knob that we didn’t even complain about????
