price! In addition to reasonable prices, and great service (timely and reliable), they are also very discrete when delivering the food for our reception buffet (we had

Where do I begin? Thank god our planner brought us to Out of the Blue. We thought we'd found the caterers the day prior to our meeting with them, but holy moly, thank goodness we waited to check Out of the Blue out. We met Michele at the tasting and fell in love with her. The food was to die for (like Michelin star quality, truly) and the set-up was wonderful at the tasting. We were treated like royalty and even enjoyed a bottle of bubbly to celebrate. Throughout the menu planning process, Michele was nothing but helpful and supportive. Any question we had he was quick to answer and made all adjustments however we wanted them. We had stations and we kept getting compliments all night on how amazing the food was. And the staff was great, as well. The only "complaints" we had were the serving staff was too good -- drinks were placed on tables and they were swiped when people hadn't finished drinking them - ha! And a friend was bummed the food had been cleared because she hadn't had the chance to try something. Not bad complaints, really! Thank you, Out of the Blue, for making our wedding truly an event to remember. I wish I'd gotten to enjoy more of the food but as the bride, it's always hard

Wow! Blue Catering and events were spectacular. They were professional on every level. From the very first meeting she settled our nerves with her knowledge and expertise of the wedding industry. They were Professional, friendly and oh so sweet. Each and every meeting with them, we knew that we were in great hands. They was so good with our Setup the day of, with the vendors before hand and especially with having our guests and bridal parties where they needed to be on time. From the Setup to the rehearsal to the speeches and first dances Martha and her team were impeccable. Im eternally grateful for the peace that my husband and I were able to experience because Blue Catering and Events handled every detail. I cannot thank you enough Martha, My guests commented repeatedly on how flawless everything went and it was all because of you . Thank you for making our wedding day, Oct 22nd 2017 one of the best days of our lives. I am tearing up now just thinking of it and you are one of the biggest reasons for this. THANK YOU!!!!

I was actually very apprehensive about choosing Out Of The Blue Catering and Events for my purpose. But once they convinced me about the service they're going to provide me, I decided to to avail their amenities and find out whether it was my worth my money and time.
To be honest, they didn't disappoint me. Their professionalism was top-notch with multiple facilities they provided me. They listened to my demands very carefully and acted out their action in arranging my catering and function arrangement very meticulously. I was stunned when they actually valued my requirements over silly matters and acted out diligently while providing me with their expertise.

In one word, I couldn't be more satisfied. I would highly recommend them for their stupendous service.

I recently got married and used Out of the Blue Catering to cater my wedding. I originally booked with another company who canceled on my about 90 days before the wedding so when I called Michele and her team, I was in a panic! Michele was so responsive, helpful and match the price of my previous caterer. I was SOOO relieved when I found her.

We got married at a private residence in La Jolla, Michele and her team came to the house for our food tasting. I loved this because it was very personal and she was able to see the venue and make decisions on how many tables we needed, where to put everything, etc.

We had Out of the Blue help us with all of our linens, cups/plates, tables, chairs and food. We had an afternoon wedding, so we did heavy appetizers and desert and got tons of compliments on the food! Everything looked absolutely beautiful.

My favorite thing about Michele was that she always returned my calls, texts and e-mails quickly and was very easy to get a hold of.
I would absolutely recommend Out of the Blue for your catering needs. They did a fabulous job on our wedding and the day went just perfect!!

After looking at what seemed like endless caterers, my husband and I went with Out of the Blue Catering for our wedding – and between the food and the service, we could not recommend them more highly.

Our catering manager, Michele, was incredible. She worked with us tirelessly on our menu, offering suggestions and making adjustments until everything sounded perfect -- and everything we tried at our tasting was even better than they sounded. We genuinely loved every single appetizer and entrée we tasted (we highly recommend the tuna tartare cones and the mini cheeseburgers, in particular).

Even better, we found that the quality of the food remained consistent and tasted just as good at the wedding itself, something our wedding planner told us is not always the case. Our guests raved about everything they served – especially the mini donuts they made on-site for dessert. Brides and grooms, do yourselves a favor and GET THE DONUT MACHINE. It was such a fun, unique treat for the wedding; and it kept serving hot, delicious goodies well into the evening to keep our guests happy all night long.

And on top of the excellent food, the service we experienced with Michele and her team, both throughout the process and during the wedding itself, was truly unparalleled. Everyone was super professional and genuinely seemed to care about the work they put into the evening. They were definitely a huge part of making our wedding perfect!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Out of the Blue Catering. Michele and her staff are phenomenal and go out of their way to make your event perfect. We had to change our venue the week before our wedding because of issues at the venue and Michele went above and beyond to work with our changes and accommodate the new location. She had a designated server, Sheri the day of our wedding to make sure we had food and drinks while we were doing our photography and she was always right there with something yummy. :) (thank you Sheri!) They did the catering for our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Every piece of food was delicious. Have to mention as well that she worked with all of the dietary restrictions we had with some of our guests. Thank you again Michele!

A recent review of Out of the Blue Catering from our wedding... When my wife and I were engaged over a year ago we started meeting with vendors in preparation for our wedding day we read reviews of caterers and did several tastings as well in the San Diego, Ca area. We had been to an event that Out of the Blue had done about 2 years ago and loved the food. We decided to do a wedding tasting with them and ended up failing in love with the food and presentation. They ended up as #1 on our list of potential caterers for our wedding. We did several more tasting with other vendors after that and none could compare to the delectable tastings that out of the blue gave us. A few weeks ago we got married in La Jolla and had our reception catered by out of the blue. Michele and Chef David, founder and owner of Out of The blue, and his team pulled it off and made our wedding reception a perfect event for our guests. I work for a non-profit in San Diego and I have had the pleasure of working with Chef David Fouts on five of our events. He has catered at our high end culinary gala and at small meetings and parties. He even donated his services, labor and the food on several ocassions!

I would have booked him for my wedding if it were being held locally. His quote was well below other caterers in SD and he has worked at some of the best restaurants in LA (Spaggo & Wolfgang Puck's other place in Malibu). Yum!

Mongolian Pork Chops

Serves 6

6 (10-ounce) center-cut double pork chops

Mongolian Marinade 1 cup hoisin sauce 1 tablespoon sugar 11/2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce 11/2 tablespoons sherry vinegar 11/2 tablespoons rice vinegar 1 scallion, white and two-thirds of the green parts, minced 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce 11/2 teaspoons Lee Kum Kee black bean chile sauce 11/2 teaspoons peeled and grated fresh ginger 11/2 tablespoons minced garlic 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves and stems, minced 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Chinese-Style Mustard Sauce

Trim the excess meat and fat away from the ends of the chop bones, leaving them exposed. Put the pork chops in a clean plastic bag and lightly sprinkle with water to prevent the meat from tearing when pounded. Using the smooth side of a meat mallet, pound the meat down to an even 1-inch thickness, being careful not to hit the bones. Alternatively, have your butcher cut thinner chops and serve 2 per serving. To make the marinade, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Coat the pork chops liberally with the marinade and marinate for 3 hours and up to overnight in the refrigerator.

Place the chops on the grill and grill for 5 minutes on each side, rotating them a quarter turn after 2 to 3 minutes on each side to produce nice crosshatch marks. It’s good to baste with some of the marinade as the meat cooks. As with all marinated meats, you want to go longer and slower on the grill versus shorter and hotter, because if the marinated meat is charred, it may turn bitter. The pork is ready when it registers 139° on an instant-read thermometer.

Offer the mustard sauce on the side for dipping.

Chinese-Style Mustard Sauce

Makes about 2 cups

This mustard sauce is delicious on grilled meats or as a dipping sauce for chicken wings. Some people swear by it as the perfect burger condiment. It’s my favorite on hot dogs.

1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup Colman’s mustard powder 2 egg yolks 1/2 cup red wine vinegar 3/4 cup crème fraîche or sour cream

Put the sugar and mustard in the top of a double boiler and mix with a whisk. When well combined, whisk in the egg yolks and vinegar. Cook over simmering water, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes, until it is thick enough to form ribbons when drizzled from the spoon. Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool. When cool, fold in the crème fraîche. Keep refrigerated until needed.

First of all is budget, that's the elephant in the room. When you and your partner decide to go out to dinner, you can choose from McDonald's for their $6.49 value me, Chili's restaurant for their 3 course meal for $30, and if its a special occasion you might head to Mr. A's at a cost of $90 per head. So which experience do you want your guest to have.

Once given a budget, the next step is the cuisine, which is your favorite? Italian, Mexican, or American, etc. Maybe you want us to cook a family recipe, which we love doing.

Once that we have a budget and style of food, we will put together a few choices and meet with you to finalize perfect menu.

It's a passion that I can't describe. Even the negative aspects of the job I enjoy. But at the end of the day, I still love getting the compliments.
