Up here visiting from south Florida for a Navy reunion. Wanted to try out one of the many local tours available and what better tour than a beer tour! Our guide "Bear" with a beard worthy of ZZ Top or Gimlee from Lord of the Rings was great! Daniel, our tour guide, was very good. He mixed in lots of history with interesting stories, anecdotes, and jokes. We went to Tommy Condon's, Craftsmen Tap House, The Griffon, and Blind Tiger Pub. Brian was our tour guide and not only was he very knowledgeable but also kind! Our tour group consisted of my boyfriend and my parents (who are not big drinkers or fast walkers). Brian was full of interesting facts and served as a wonderful tour guide through the downtown Charleston area. I sent my husband and his brother on this tour a few weeks back. This is their report:Can we do it again?!Needless to say, it was great, and they are not typically an easy crowd to please. They both immensely enjoyed the history lessons along the path, and are still talking about some of the fun facts they learned. My girlfriend and I went on this tour on a Saturday at 4pm. We met at Molly Darcy's. Our tour guide was Daniel, the owner of the company. We stopped at four bars in total with some good history at each bar and in between. We went on a Saturday, 4:00 p.m. tour with Brian and had a GREAT time! He was full of energy and had a great mix of history and fun. We'd just done a weeklong road trip and my bf surprised me with this tour. I didn't know what to expect- we were exhausted and rushing to get there on a 6 hour drive, had just spent the last few days in tourist-ridden Orlando, were sick of drinking, and tired of the humid south. Well, thankfully, this tour completely exceeded expectations. There were delicious appetizers at each spot, some awesome local brews and cocktails (I recommend the white Thai and flytail), and plenty of charming local establishments and historical points of interest. I can honestly say that Brian made the entire tour- he was incredibly knowledgable about the city and it was obvious that he had a real passion for Charlestown and history. He was also personable and really connected with everyone in our small group. Because we were only a group of four, he catered the tour to our interests and stopped at bars and places that we'd like most. He went above and beyond when the other pair left early; he stuck around with us and walked us back to our hotel bar so that we could share another drink like old friends. Booked this tour with my gf as part of a week long road trip through the south. We weren't sure what to expect from a 7pm Wednesday night pub tour, but we're glad we joined! Our guide, Brian, took our group of 4 to several local bars in the area that had each had their own unique ambiance. My gf and I ended up splitting beer flights at a few of the spots so we could try many different local beers. My favorite beer from the night was the White Thai. The appetizers were delicious as well. We did not eat dinner beforehand, but the amount of food served through the tour was enough to keep us filled.Brian was very knowledgeable about the city as well. It was great to learn about the history of Charleston in between drinks and appetizers. He made us feel very welcome, and even walked us back near our hotel at the end of the tour. My husband and I have done this tour twice--once for ourselves and again when we had out of town visitors.  It's a great way to check out some off the beaten path bars in Charleston and see the city. Both times, our guides were fun and informative (as you're walking, they tell you a bit about the history of Charleston and different buildings, as well as the history behind some of the bars you visit) and were great "hosts".  The guides also are great at giving suggestions for other bars to visit or places to get some dinner to soak up all that alcohol you just consumed.  My husband and I have been back a few times to The Blind Tiger and Craftsmen, and I don't know if we would have found them on our own.  I wouldn't hesitate to take future visitors on this tour. Great time on out pub your, we took the 4pm on Saturday with Brian. We had as mall group so brian was able to cater the tour to the time we were looking for. He told us a lot about charleston history, a lot more than many other types of yours we have taken. He ended up spending so much extra time with us so that we got to see the sunset, many of the famous historical spots and a lot of non pub places that we would never have stumbled upon on ourselves. Saw the tour online and wanted to try it out.  There was 7 of us on this tour with Daniel, the owner.  Which was a good size group because we all could hear him when he spoke about the history.  We went to 5 pubs and all were nice except the last one Big Johns.  It was within mins we were being solicited to get on the bar topless.  No thanks!  Daniel told us a few "ghost" stories and a lot about the history of Charleston.  He's very proud to be a local, 11th generation and he was super friendly. We booked a group tour for our Reunion group with Brian and had a great evening. While we could have navigated different pubs on our own, it was much more entertaining to have a guide and meet other participants. Brian was well versed on the history of Charleston, super friendly and extremely patient with us...a very chatty group! He customized our tour and gave us options, while also extending our tour! Our tour guide was Daniel. He is the owner of the company. He did a great job. Our group consisted of 2 couples and a bachelor group of 6. Every bar we went to had tables waiting for us. We really enjoyed hearing about the history of the town. We never felt rushed in this group. It was fun getting to know the other people in our group. I highly recommend this for people who are into making new friends. Perfect for us since we were a couple by ourselves. After Daniel left, we continued our night with our new group of friends!
