I have debated for a few months about even leaving a review but I am still upset, so I figured it would be worth sharing.

My husband and I got married in the beginning of May 2022. When I spoke to Jon and we went over music, timing, and what we wanted I told him I wanted to introduce my parents for a dance for them, and also told him not to cut my dances short when he asked if thats something I wanted to do.

To start, I found out after my wedding that Jon had been repremanding my guests about having their cell phones out before I even walked down the aisle. That was not his place and he necer asked anyone about what we wanted; in fact I was hoping people would take candid pictures. Many guest assumed he was there with the photographer and that is why he was making them put their phones away.

Then during our special dances, he cut every one of them short. Even our father/daughter dance! The song I chose specifically talked about the daughter getting ready for her wedding in the third verse, which no one got to hear as he decided to chop it short.

When it came time to surprise my parents by having their own special dance, he outright told me he was going to introduce it. I told him twice that I had planned on surprising them myself, and he told me no; he would do it. I did not want to cause a scene at my own wedding so I decided to let him.

Jon had asked us to send him any songs we might want to hear during the night. We sent him about 10ish songs, with links to them to make sure there was no confusion on what versions. We also told him, AND wrote on ALL of his forms we filled out, that it was 90's country theme and to not deviate from that as mush as possible. We ended up hearing maybe 4 of the songs we sent him, and had a "lovely" mix of 70's and 80's "pop" and other genres of music, which is just not us. When our guests started to leave, my husband asked him to play one of the songs we sent him a link to as it was an inside joke between us and wanted our friends to hear it before they left. What we heard, rather than the regular version we sent, was a weird rendition that almost sounded like a reworked karaoke version with no lyrics except the chorus.

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The only reason it took me so long to post a review is because my parents paid for his services and all in all our guests had a good time. I would NOT hire Jon again. More...

Once Upon A Wedding was an excellent choice for a DJ. He offered so many other services as well. He had a very reasonable price but offered just as much as any other DJ's that were double his price. He was so friendly and easy to work with. He did everything just as we liked but also had his own suggestions if you needed help. I would recommend Once Upon a Wedding time and time again! We did DJ, photography, and day of coordination, and we made the right decision going with them! We are so grateful we found Jon for my son and daughter in law’s wedding. Jon is extremely professional, kind, patient and organized. Jon, who is bilingual, was the the wedding officiant performing a beautiful ceremony in both languages. He set up a video capturing the entire ceremony and provided all of the music during their garden wedding. A lot of attention to detail, guidance, list of many traditional and unique reception ideas, timeline, prompt response to phone calls and in person meeting was provided, as well as accommodating last moment special requests with ease. Jon also provided DJ services with lighting effects and engaging music to get the celebration started from the bridal party announcements, bridal party dances, meal blessing, couple’s game that everyone enjoyed, having guests sing along, a special video recording capturing wishes to the bride and groom, toast, speeches, dedications, and more. There was not a dull moment of happy tears, laughter and a blast. The night was most fun and memorable. Many guests said, “this was the best wedding reception they ever attended.” Jon also captured many videos of the highlights of the night. They were my Dj, photo booth, and officiant. Let me tell you that they were AMAZING!! They help you every step of the way and offer amazing advice throughout the whole process. The night of, he made sure everything went perfectly. He got our marriage license for us and the photo booth photos were amazing! They also posted them immediately once the photo was taken. Plus he took a video of the entire night and asked the guest at the wedding to offer us advice. 10/10 you will miss out if you pass this vendor by! I highly recommend them. More...

I couldn’t have asked for a better person to officiate and DJ my wedding. Jon was definitely not your regular DJ, he is so passionate of what he does and makes sure everyone has a good time. This guy is horrible.. my friend booked him for a wedding for April 2022 and she paid $500 up front but unfortunately had to change the date and it didn’t work for hmm but he would not refund the money the deposit was suppose to be $100 she paid more to pay off quicker, he would even refund the additional money paid. Keep in mind that she only had him booked for 1 week. If you want someone to rob you of your money go ahead and book him! More...

Where to even begin… if you need someone who can honestly run your entire wedding perfectly leaving yourself and guest in complete shock and joy look absolutely no further than Jon! He is a miracle worker! And so knowledgeable and professional! Not to mention extremely responsive and genuinely an amazing individual to work with. He made all our wedding dreams come true! Also his advice early on with suggesting wedding insurance saved us! We were one of the many unlucky covid postponed weddings! Of course we hired him before well this awful global pandemic and he made a fantastic suggestion to get wedding insurance (unknowingly that months later a pandemic will happen) it actually saved us big time! He is like a wedding wizard! You can trust him whole heartedly! He was our officiant and day of coordinator and he went up and beyond! He even had drinks and food brought to us while we were melting under the harsh Florida sun for quick pictures. I had countless guest that told me they have never been to a smoother wedding than ours and honestly it’s because of Jon. Also we were from out of town so also he helped us with getting our license. It was a completely painless process all thanks to him. He is so wonderful and genuinely cares. We had guest thinking he was a friends of ours because he seem to know us both so well and our first time meeting him was at our rehearsal! We have guests getting married next already wanting him to do their weddings (sorry Jon we are about to keep you busy ;) ) He is one of a kind and he really cares and that something that stood out to me and made me want to work with him. I first would like to start off by giving Jon nothing but praises you were patient and kind and made everything just beautiful. I was having a hard time in the bridal suite with getting ready due to the stylist not doing her job, it was very emotional for me but Jon at Once Upon A Wedding stayed to make sure that my wedding continued even though he may of had other arrangements. I could not ask for a better DJ. We planned our wedding 500 miles away from our wedding destination and everything had to be done o we the phone. He always responded to me quickly. I can’t be thankful enough for Jon’s services on my wedding day! He traveled all the way to VA without any hesitation even during this crazy time! Jon was the officiant and also the DJ and his wife did the photography. It didn’t feel like we were states apart during the planning, he made sure we went through the day step by step not leaving any detail out. He is truly great at what he does, very professional. The whole day went so smoothly and it was such a blast! Many friends and family complimented him for an awesome day. His wife was good at knowing what photos to take, I can’t wait to see them. like a few other reviews have had to cancel my wedding due to the COVID pandemic. When I first spoke to Jon and booked him for the wedding there was only a simple verbal agreement stating the money owed was due by the day of the wedding. There was no mention of a deposit or money being non-refundable or a “retainer”. After speaking to my wedding planner at the resort we were using we were refunded all of the money we paid for the resort, food, catering, ceremony setup, etc. Jon ignored multiple messages from me asking him to discuss a refund. Eventually he messaged me back Jon so “graciously offered” as he stated to move my retainer to a different date or let me transfer it to someone else. I explained again that this was a destination wedding and that we would not be rescheduling it especially with all of the unknown in the world. That is when he stated that I didn’t understand what a retainer fee was. He stated that I clearly didn’t understand how the wedding industry worked and that he was being more than gracious allowing us to transfer our retainer to a different day or a different service. Jon knew through our messages that my fiancé and I were both flying into Florida for this wedding and with us both being military members my unit has not given me the permission to travel due to the extreme amount of cases in Florida. I let him know that we were going to be able to have the wedding in September as we originally planned. This has been a beyond stressful time as it is and I all I expected was a little understanding from this small business owner. To say that I don’t understand how the wedding industry works is not an appropriate way to speak to your clients. The large resort in Cocoa beach has refunded the thousands of dollars that I paid them for the wedding but I’m the one apparently who doesn’t “understand how the wedding industry works.” I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND FINDING SOMEONE ELSE TO DJ/OFFICIATE/PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING!
