I want to thank Chris and everyone at OmniTrace for their help in locating my birth father and mother. Through Chris' suggestion of doing the Ancestory DNA test, he was able to confirm a close match, and, therefore, ID, locate and contact my birth father. Through 23andme testing, which I had already done, he was also able to ID, locate and contact my birth mother. Chris was very helpful through this process. I tried every way I knew how to find my Daughter's Birth Mother and couldn't. I remembered hearing about OmniTrace on a show years ago (Oprah or Dr. Phil type show), so I contacted them. Ms. ******* was extremely friendly, patient and informative. She reassured me they wouldn't take my case if they didn't feel they had enough to go on, but also made sure I understood it was not a given that she would be found or want contact. I found my birth mother with your help and even though she wasn't ready to meet me yet I surprised her, she wasn't really happy at first but after we sat and talked for a bit and I told her I had to get going she got up out of her chair and gave me a great big hug and a kiss. Over 50 years ago my younger sister was put up for adoption. From the 1970s on my younger brother and I tried unsuccessfully to find her. In Mar of this year, I finally decided to hire someone to do what I hadn't been able to accomplish. I waited the required 90 days to inquire about the status, and when I did was told they thought they'd found her, but the birth date was off a week. It didn't seem possible, but my high school graduation was almost 50 years ago. As you might expect, we had lost track of a number of classmates over the years. My daughter had worked at Omnitrace in the past, so I knew they found lost people and thought I'd give them a try.I was totally amazed by how quickly they came up with information about these classmates. When both of my adopted parents passed away, I decided that I wanted to search for my biological parents. I did my own research, joined message boards and Facebook groups, and relied on the advise and guidance of those that had committed to the same search that I was on. My adoption took place in Louisiana, and my understanding is that Louisiana is one of the more difficult states to acquire this type of information from. I did everything I could on my own, I made requests to the state for information that other adoptees said I had the right to access. I used pre-formatted documents and sent repeated requests. Unfortunately, my attempts never produced results. I attempted this search on my own for about 2 years, and was so disheartened by the end of it that I thought I would just have to give up. In that time, I never even explored the possibility of utilizing an investigator. Aside from being a bit of a do-it-yourself kind of gal, I just presumed that the cost would exceed anything I could feasibly budget for.
Thankfully, a friend started calling around and making inquiries. He called me and said that he had spoken with a representative from Omnitrace, and that he was told that my case sounded solvable. Even though my adoption took place in one of the states that rarely (never) unseal original birth certificates, they felt that they could help me. He also said that the fees could be split into a few payments, so I decided to give them a call.
I wish I could remember who it was I spoke with initially. She was really wonderful, and didn't make me feel poorly about my need to be frugal. It took me three months to pay the entire fee, which I felt was fair and do-able, especially since I had tried on my own with no results. I appreciated that the fee was all I had to pay, regardless of the amount of work/time that was required. I signed up and I am so glad I did.
Within a couple months of my last payment, I received information from the state (that I had asked for on my own MANY times over the span of a couple years) that had information regarding my birthparents. This was a limited history, but it contained some general descriptions of my birthparents along with information regarding their reasons for giving me up for adoption. I cannot express how this information effected me. Talk about fuel on the fire! I must've read that paper over a thousand times during the course of their investigation!
Kevin Lynch (the investigator assigned to my case), located my birth mother in a little under a year. Unfortunately, she has refused to respond to me yet, but Kevin also located my birth father and mediated contact. I am happy to report that last week, I had a two hour conversation with my birth father! My hope is that my bio-mom will come around eventually, but I feel such a sense of closure after speaking with my father!
I realize that this is a bit long winded, but I really was not sure that this day would ever come.
My initial hesitations with hiring an investigative firm were 1) the cost, and 2) the chance of getting manipulated or ripped off. I felt like the cost was very fair, and the investigator was always straightforward with me. I feel like a year was a reasonable amount of time for resolution, and I will be forever grateful.
I would recommend Omnitrace wholeheartedly and without reservation. They exceeded my expectations. More...

I had been wanting to find my natural father for 2 decades, but had not gotten up the nerve until 2 years ago. When I did call a PI he told me that the limited info was 'not enough' and with the common name, I would be wasting my money to look. Being discouraged, I nearly didn't try again. Then recently I decided to attempt another shot, because I didn't want to regret not looking, and as the years passed the chances of him not even being alive were increasing... So after searching the web, I contacted Omnitrace. I was still very pessimistic after the first private investigator discouraged me, so honest to say I had not much optimism, but Vanessa encouraged me to go for it. She said that they're really good at what they do, and I should certainly have enough info to find out something. Chris, the supervisor there contacted me in about two weeks, and had compiled a list of possible names as well as determining information I would not have been able to get on my own. I am still in shock to say that I actually talked to my father on the phone for the first time ever, last night! It took me less than a month to find him, and I had waited so long!! Now we're making plans to meet.
I wanted to write a review for Omnitrace, because I have had such a positive experience dealing with them. They are helpful, empathetic, and professional. I have had nothing but a great experience. I heard from her!!!!I was crying do hard I could not read the words clearly at first. Take all the time you need for as long as you like. The fact that you have even answered this email is enough to last me a lifetime. I can't stop the tears...as I said, I just want to know if you are ok. onded to my FB message. She said, "This came out of no where and I am not sure how to respond. Can you give me a little more time? XO." It was a positive response and I wrote her back telling her to take all the time she needed and that I would wait for as long as it took. My heart is so full of joy. After 36 years of wondering where I came from I decided to hire a intermediary to help me find out where my biological parents were. Growing up adopted left a small void of curiousness. A dim sense of individuality, which I felt I needed to cure. Omnitrace was my cure. I had first names of my bio-parents and where I was born and that was it. I was sitting on my back porch with my son-in-law, who knew he was going to Afghanastan in a few months. I asked him what was on his mind. He said he wanted to find his birth parents. I told him i would see what I could do. I went to an adoption site and clicked on Omni-trace. I placed a call and spoke to a very nice man, but was hesitant. He sent me his information via email and invited to check the company out. I did. I gave him the info he requested and Ashley contacted me. In a short time, I was given the info I needed. I passed the info on to my son-in-law. First he made contact with his bio. father. It turned out very nice, they were able to spend some time together. We used OmniTrace Corp to find our long, lost relative. She was given away at birth. We felt empty and disconnected. OmniTrace found her within weeks. We did some research ourselves and were pleased with the cost that OmniTrace quoted us to do the harder tasks of finding our missing loved one. I contacted them without researching any other companies, and asked them if they could help me find my birth mother who was gone from my life at the age of 1 1/2 when my parents divorced. I'm now 39. I had no information about her other than a name and approximate age. I initially spoke on the phone with Diane, who was very polite and professional. She all but guaranteed me that they would find her. I thought that since I had researched online many times trying to find her with no luck, that it would prove to be a quite difficult if not impossible task for Omnitrace. They found her in 3 days. As a volunteer for Stand up for Kids in the San Jose area, I am helping a young man find his family. Stand up for Kids works with homeless youth to keep them off of the street and assist them in leading a productive, meaningful life. I contacted Omnitrace last October to see if they could help me find my birth family since I was adopted at age 13 months. I gave them what information I had, which was where I was born, where I was adopted and my mother's first and last name. They had me request "non-identifying" information about my birth records fromt he state where I was adopted. The state finally sent it to me the other day. I read through it and thought I identified the name of my mother's brother-in-law and e-mailed it to Omnitrace yesterday morning to see if they could check it. I also told them I was sending the record to them at that time. Yesterday evening I get a call from Chris, the investigator, asking me if I kept a copy of the record and to give him some information from it. I was able to give him the names of my mother's sisters and some other information and he told me he thought he had found my mother. He even had her phone number and address. I asked him to contact her and see if she was interested in knowing about me. He did and called me back to tell me she definitely wanted to talk to me. I contacted Omni-Trace in Jan. & they found my grand-daughter in less then 4 months. I am thrilled.
My daughter, as of now, does not know this as she is going thru a bit of a medical crisis with her 13 year old son.
But we will tell her soon.A suggestion for O-T--even tho you say no updates for 16 weeks it is very difficult to see all this money going out with no appearant results. This is a very emotional journey we are taking & with some, a fiancial difficulty also.

I hired OmniTrace last December to help find a daughter that was given up for adoption in 1970. They told me that is sometimes takes a year to find the person. They found her on around 8-31-09. We have been in contact with her and her family since.It has been the greatest feeling that you can ever imagine. After 46 years i finally decided to search for my birth mother and used omnitrace to try and locate her. I did have some partial information about her name but that was about it. All of the people at omnitrace were very professional and really seemed to care about my search .I thought the cost was reasonable for the task at hand given the countless hours that i tried on finding her myself with no luck. I guess depending on how much information you have on the person you are looking for really either speeds up or slows down the search process but in about 8 months they did locate her and confirm she was my birth mother,i also found out that i had a sister.Unfortunately my birth mother has not yet wanted to make contact with me but is very close to doing so.Ashley at omnitrace has been a great help throught the process and has been contacting my birth mother every so often to see if she is ready for contact .
