Listen. I've eaten a lot of mediterranean food in my life. This place is quality. Literally one of the best Greek salads of my restaurant excursions and they do not shy away from the feta cheese. Speaking of -- the feta cheese rolls? Awesome. Potatoes? Delicious. This is one of the only places I have ever eaten at in.my.life (!) where I haven't had to season my food after tasting it. My family ate at Olive for the first time tonight and we were very impressed! The food was absolutely stellar. Everyone in my family thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I like Mediterranean food and am constantly trying out new restaurants. Olive is now at the top of my list along with Lavash in Columbus. We live north of Dayton so it is nice that we will have an excellent option much closer to home.We will definitely be frequenting Olive much more in the future. This place is the bomb. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap with tzatziki, small order of hummus with pita, and an order of greek potatoes. Everything was amazing and the portions are very, very generous. The wrap is the size of a very large burrito with spiced chicken and amazing flavors inside. The small order of hummus and warm pita slices felt more like a large order and is the best hummus I've had in a long time. And the Greek potatoes....guys, try them. They are amazing. Olive is a cute, clean family-owned and operated place in downtown Dayton. We stopped in for a late Saturday afternoon lunch. Service was great and the owners were welcoming and charming. The guys in our party ordered gyro sandwiches, one with a salad, the other with potatoes. I ordered a Greek salad with gyro meat. The food was made to order, hot, and fresh. The lettuce in my salad was crispy and there were nice-sized pieces of feta. The gyro meat was served on the side. It was tender and juicy. Prices were very reasonable and the portions generous. The only suggestions we would make is that we would have preferred more seasoning in the gyro meat. In our opinion, it could have used more salt and a bit heavier hand with the other spices. My Greek salad was dressed with wine vinegar, which was actually a little more pungent than I would have preferred. The herbs on the salad were great. I probably would have preferred just a squeeze of lemon and a drizzle of olive oil instead of the vinegar. Overall, though, an enjoyable lunch and we would like to come back to try some of their other dishes. More...
