I travel to Anna Maria Island very often, but last Thursday evening was my first time at the Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus.
Whenever I try a German restaurant for the first time, I always order Sauerbraten - it's a mainstay on every German restaurant menu and it's a good way to judge the quality of their food, in general.
Hands down, the Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus sauerbraten was the absolute BEST I have eaten since Grandmas.
The beef was tender, perfectly seasoned and prepared. The gravy was ambrosia. The sides of sweet and sour cabbage seasoned with a hint of ground cloves - excellent.
The Spätzle - how do they make such perfect
Spätzle? It requires years of experience and attention to detail.
I will be back many times to try the rest of your menu. Im sure everything will be excellent!

Got to visit AMI last week and made a trip for some home cooking (born/raised in Germany). I have to say it was AMAZING and Gary was an excellent host.
He made us feel like we have known him for years!! We also made some new friends at the bar. When I am out that way again you can bet I will be back.

Wonderful authentic German dining experience. Really cute decor. You’ll think you were at your Aunties house! The beef stroganoff noodles are homemade and delicious! The pork shank was large enough for four people. Super tender and comes with sauerkraut, yum! Black Forest Cake and apple strudel were also excellent. I can’t say enough about the cappuccino.
