I cannot say enough good things about Alexia. She is truly the best trainer out there, and is so friendly and warm around dogs. I took our rescue mix dog who is 3 years old to her, and he came back a different dog. Before the 2 week board and train, he would bark at every truck that passed and pull so hard on the leash every time he saw another dog. After the training, he is solely focused on me, and I can take him anywhere in the city with all the distractions without any problem. I went cross country skiing with him off leash and can play ball with him at the park now. It has made both of us so much happier. Alexia will send pictures and videos for updates during the 2 weeks, and will always respond ASAP to any question. I felt so comfortable leaving my dog with her for 2 weeks. I am so happy with the results of our Basic and Advanced Obedience training! Alexia was kind, patient and always available to answer questions and give useful recommendations! She tailored Sherlock's training based on our specific needs and worked patiently and diligently with him no matter how stubbornly he acted! The only reason my husband and I decided to get another Siberian Husky, is because we found Alexia. We brought home our 10 week old Daisy May in June. We did the puppy training class with Alexia and then had Daisy in the 2 week bootcamp when she turned 5 months. I love huskies! They are the only breed from me. But never in my wildest dreams, after having a husky, did I ever know that they can be trained to this level. I can leave my house and my 6 month old puppy won't bolt out the door and run away. I can call her with or without the e-collar and she comes. I will say I work with her daily and so does my husband. I love my dog, and I am not a total dog lover. But I love my dog so much more now, because there is so much less worry, so much less stress and so much more fun and love. Daisy runs off leash with my 7 year old son and heals to his command. We are all so thrilled, blessed and grateful, that we found Alexia and she helped truley have a puppy as part of our family without driving me crazy as some puppies can do. I highly recommend her! Our dog Gunner, who is over a year old, just finished his 4 week beginner training today. We are beyond impressed and happy with the training and Alexia! We were kicked out of a popular dog store training class on the first night for barking and not listening. After the very first lesson with Alexia we noticed a complete difference! He started listening to us. The training also helped with his behavior issues like marking in the house, jumping and barking. It was way more than we ever expected! Alexia is fantastic! Where to start! Well to say the least Zeus was not the best listener and was constantly pulling on the leash,jumping,barking and other puppy tendencies as well. It was getting really frustrating with all these things so that's why I decided to call alexia here at off leash! I was a bit scared handing my buddy off to someone else random for two weeks but alexia assured me that he would be absolutely fine and if I wanted I could have updates everyday of him !(which I chose to do) She stayed on top of that and was very easy to converse with and made me feel very comfortable with him staying the two weeks. I would not recommend any other dog trainer in Chicago unless you are looking to waste your money. I wanted to start off with I searched for weeks for training that was both reliable and the level I wanted as well as affordable. I am a little behind on this because I really wanted to see how he did once he was home and to be honest I let myself get frustrated and I let him down and we both got into some bad habits. Alexia had my pup Leroy for the 2 week board and train. Leroy is such a sweet pup and he loves everyone and everything, he got in a bad habit of getting so excited around people and kids that he would just pull and pull and at times not even respond to the e-collar. I got super frustrated and stopped using the e-collar as much as I should have. I contacted Alexia and we met for a refresher session. This was the main reason I went with Off Leash, besides their great reputation, I knew I wanted the security of the follow-ups that came with the board and train. Alexia was a great help, Leroy already had the foundation from his time with her but I needed to be better and he needed some reminders. Since then we have worked every day with the e-collar and to be honest I am blown away. I can play fetch with him in an open area and he remains focused, I can walk him around town and he is much better with kids and people. I can even take him into stores and he is a complete gentleman. He still loves and adores everyone but he is more controlled and mellow. We are still working on his behavior in stores and some patience but that will come, I am sure of it. He is just such an excited and loving dog it is about keeping him calm so he can be the best he can, I appreciated that their methods did not remove or force into submission my dog’s personality. Morale of the story is that regardless of what competitors told me and how their prices were better, Off Leash is so worth the time and money because at the end you get a dog who you can trust, is respectful, obedient and most importantly is still the dog you left at drop off. We just wanted to say thank you to Alexia! Our 14 month old Cane Corso Vinnie just returned home from his 2 week board and train. We immediately noticed a difference when we picked Vinnie up after his training. Before, Vinnie was a nightmare to walk on a leash, had terrible door manners, despised going in his cage and had very little to no basic obedience. After being home for just 3 days his door manners are much much better and will be perfect in little to no time. He completely understands and follows his commands and signals. I went through both home training and group training before finally investing the money with Alexia at Off Leash K9 Training. Stanley was difficult.. very high energy, always chewing something, jumping on the couch, ignoring me, and very leash reactive with a lot of pulling. The previous training had helped a bit, but not to the point where I could reliably take him on walks or to the park without massive effort, and this caused more destructive behavior.

Alexia assured me she could help--and she did! The lessons are expensive, which is why I only did the Basic Obedience package but still hoped it would help correct some issues. If I could have afforded the board and train at this time, I would have done it.

Still, Alexia gave me all the tools I needed to give Stanley a solid obedience foundation. We still have some work to do but his attention span and focus has grown leaps and bounds, and he actually gets tired now! She was always available for the multitude of questions I asked weekly after our training session.

Someone actually told me that Stanley was "like a new dog" which was a great compliment. I can now walk him without him walking me and his recall is way more reliable.

All in all, if you can commit the time to doing the homework, any training with Alexia is 100% worth the money. And don't let E-Collar misinformation cause any hesitance. My dog is the happiest and calmest he's ever been after training! And I see it becoming even better as we continue our homework for the next few months. More...

I contacted Alexia about our 1 yr old GSD Gunnar after reading all the great reviews about the 2 week board and train program. Man, what a difference 2 weeks can make! Alexia sent us updates on his progress daily and every time I was more surprised than the last! She helped so much with building his confidence and socializing him with other dogs and people, which he really needed. He also "heels" without hesitation! I'm still surprised about that one ;) She really gave us amazing tools to continue working with him and to keep him excelling! I don't know how to THANK Marissa enough for the training she did with our doberman Radar!!! He was part of the board and train for 2 weeks and omg what Huge Huge change in our dog! ! I can walk him and he doesn't pull me. No jumping on people when they walk in the door. He listens to all his commands just a totally different dog. He can be alone outside with our other dog without any issues it's just amazing!!! Marissa sent me pictures and videos everyday of Radar which I Loved that! Off Leash K9 is second to none!

When we got our new (rescue) puppy, Theo, we wanted to find the best training method and trainer. We’ve had dogs for the last 25+ years and knew not all trainers or methods were alike.

We spent a lot of time researching and talking to trainers and ‘customers’. We learned a ton about e-collars and other methods. It all led us to one place. Off Leash K9.

We had the opportunity to work with both Marissa and Alexia. They both were outstanding. Excellent at connecting with Theo, and even better connecting and ‘training’ us.

Each Saturday morning when we told Theo that Marissa or Alexia were coming he sat at the door with excitement. He loved his sessions with them. It was learning and playtime.

We tried to follow their lead and create the same feeling when we worked with him. It worked! Theo likes working on all we learned. He was a fun crazy puppy when we started. He’s now a fun crazy and trained puppy!

Its funny watching this now dug is 10 months old... He's a bit bigger now (60lbs!). He's still the best trained a loving dog you can ask for! I walk him to the local park, off leash every day (well most days... and always off leash). Everyone that meets him can't believe how well he listens for a puppy! If only i could get my kids to do that!
Honestly, can't thank Alexia enough.. With 2 crazy kids (5&4yr olds).. we couldn't have a crazy dog... Dug been boarded and trained with Alexia was defiantly a great decision and I highly recommend it!

We just finished the 2wk training for our dog Simba (Rhodesian Ridgeback). I will say the training he went through is beyond remarkable. Simba is a different dog in a good way. He is responding to the commands as he was trained. It is like night and day on the command we have with him at home. Understanding that the training continues with practicing but it is such a remarkable difference. We cannot say enough about Off Leash K9 Training and our trainer, Alexia. We brought our very leash reactive 7 month old Mini Australian Shepard to her. She had become very reactive around both people and other dogs, including barking at them and not being able to move past them on our daily walks. Honestly, we were very worried that Alexia would not be able to help us, given how reactive our pup was with everything. Today, we are amazed at what she has done with our puppy, Penny. It is now a joy to walk Penny every day (she walks at a perfect heel), and my husband and I have loved working with the tools and the strategies that she has taught us to continue our training with Penny. Penny is so much more confident and the barking has virtually stopped all together. Alexia is beyond kind and sends updates every day on how your pup is doing and continues to be a support today with any question we have. Alexia trained our 18 month old Dutch Shepherd Faith. She is awesome! I received updates every single day and every day I was shocked by what I saw. Not pulling on her leash? Staying? Healing? Even now when I play her videos Faith gets excited by Alexia's voice. Judging by the videos Faith was treated as part of her family and even bonded with her own dog (Faith was very aggressive towards other dogs when we sent her to Alexia) so imagine my disbelief when I received a video of her happily playing with other dogs. We are so happy with Faiths training and still continue to reach out to Alexia for advice and she alway responds and answers any questions I have and is super supportive. Cannot day enough great things about our experience and trainer, Marissa. We sent our 1.5 yr old rescue pit bull Page to her for the two week board and train. When I met with Marissa I explained how Page can be very afraid, but she is never aggressive. Our goal with training was to get her confidence up while helping her to be an even better dog-she loves kids and other dogs and playing so we wanted her to be able to do that safely. She reassured me that if the collar was too much for Page, she would adjust the training so that Page would be learning without being afraid. We got daily updates (sometimes multiples!) on her progress and were AMAZED with the results after just a few days. Page warmed up to Marissa and the collar and gets excited to put it on and get to work practicing!! Having our dog be more confident and able to share/enjoy life with us is worth every penny!! Our friends have started going to OLK9 and we will be sending any future dogs to them as well! More...

Caesar looked calmer and he would actually listen. I picked up Caesar yesterday and Marissa showed me how to use the e collar, and she showed me all the commands Caesar leraned. This is the second day that I have Caesar and honestly I have not been using the ecollar. I brought my 1 yr old German shepherd Loki to Alexia with virtually zero training. Before his 2 week board and train he was always jumping on people's backs and only listened when it involves waiting for his food. After getting him back it's almost as if he's a completely different dog. He listens great and it seems our bond is getting better everyday I work with him. Alexia is the best, most personable, trainer we have ever meet. We tried several AKC and other private trainers, they do not come close. She spends as much time with the our Chocolate Lab as she did explaining and training us. Alexia was extremely knowledgable of training and just plain fun to be around! Our Goldendoodle, Roo, really enjoyed every session we had with her and loves the structure the off leash training has brought to her life.
