We are in town from Texas for an All-Star game and the Women's Final Four games. Yelp led us to NorthStar Tavern for Happy Hour and we were not disappointed! Paigan was awesome as was everyone else who worked there. They were friendly, hospitable and made great recommendations! We had the Cry Baby Cauliflower and the Jalapeño Avocado Wontons. Both were incredible! We debated ordering more of them and probably would have if we didn't already have dinner plans. We also ordered drinks and definitely recommend the Stargarita, Prairie Cucumber Martini Cocktail and the Makers 46 Old Fashioned! Thanks for the great experience! Love this place! We frequent it often and love the March pizza of the month ... reuben pizza. thousand island sauce, kraut, corned beef and cheese. The crust is awesome!

Had a  great brunch here with my girlfriend. Sat at the bar and the bartender was nice, attentive and fun! Friend got the corned beef hash and  it came with two huge (looked homemade) English muffins- delish! ! I got the breakfast burger - thee wrong burger came out but they fixed it fast. Loved thee hash browns on thee burger and  that they serve it on a English muffin! Good burger! To take it up a  notch I would either add peanut butter or a bacon onion jam- my 2 cents! Ah yes you do serve chips and salsa, which were stale and when u asked for fresh ones he told us they were out. So they gave us the bottom of the barrel stake chips. He did charge us for refills because he didn't know what he was doing and the manger came back when we were on our way out and said she will credit us for them but we just said we are out of here and not coming back. Are you sure you work at this restaurant?? Also, who wants to go to a restaurant where the owner questions someone's review trying to not be at fault!? Yikes More...

Last evening, we ate at the North Star Tavern. It was so much fun! Our server was outstanding! I asked for coffee at 9 p.m . and she went and brewed some for me.  After being seated at a table for about a 1/2 hour, a couple of booths opened up. We asked to be moved to a booth and she was so acommodating. Both my husband and I really enjoyed our delicious handheld sandwiches. Would  recommend the sweet potato  tots. This is a hit or miss place. Mostly a miss lately. It is close to home but not worth going anymore. The food and service has gone downhill. Stale chips, cold zucchini fries and they charged us for refills on soda which I haven't seen a restaurant do in years. They also charge you if you want any extra dressing or a sauce. Awesome experience!! Sat on the patio with some friends on a summer night. I just got the wedge salad with steak. I expected the steak to be mediocre (as steak that you order as an addition to a salad usually is) but NO. It was actually a tender cut and cooked to medium perfectly. Can't say enough amazing things about NorthStar Tavern! They hosted the 30th annual Jefferson High School reunion for the class of '91, and it was perfect. With a menu so large, it was hard to find their niche items and go-to dishes. In fact, when asking our server for recommendations, it felt as though he even struggled to find clear favorites. I ended up getting the Reuben and liking it- even though I was skeptical of their use of Russian dressing vs. Thousand Island. The Russian dressing was yummy, the sandwich had quality meat & bread... and lots of cheese!Ultimately the food was good, and it was an enjoyable experience. But the menu was overwhelming. This was my second time at NorthStar and I was a bit underwhelmed. First time for dinner service was great. But this time for brunch both our orders with eggs were very over cooked (poached eggs on eggs benedict and eggs ordered over easy were both hard), and the eggs benedict had very little hollandaise sauce. They offered to replace the eggs benedict and we said no and just asked for more sauce, which they charged us for. Additionally the biscuits and the pancakes were very dense. Do not bother with a reservation. It is first come first serve even for patio seating. We waited with a reservation just to watch a group of three come in without one and take a patio seat while we were sat at the bar with no apology. We gave them very little warning before our baseball team (party of 30) showed up on a Saturday evening. Picked up dinner from here tonight. It was super fast; called in they said 15 minutes and my husband was back home in 20! I really like the variety of the menu and the options to switch out proteins and accommodate many diets . I had the recommended teriyaki turkey burger with pineapple - good but I would add a Swiss or provolone to it next time. Husband had the cowboy burger.
