Stopped by this cool micro brewery on a recent trip and the craft brews did not disappoint. Great quality over quantity here. Limited addition runs of small batch brews that you can not only taste but see the difference. Spent a few hours sitting at the bar with the assistant brewer as my tap tender and not only were his suggestions spot on it was obvious at least to me that his passion for brewing high quality handcrafted beer was a second nature for him. I appreciated not only his input but also his commitment to his craft. It was apparent to me that the attention to the details and the understanding of true crafted brewing is was a part of the driving force to this establishment. The small ever changing board of offerings overhead was an impressive range of profiles and abv contents that should and would please most consumers palettes. Super chill place with local crowd, beers are pretty good and place is pretty clean. Food menu on the days they serve it, and it was pretty tasty! While camping at San Onofre we always hit a couple of breweries in San Clemente, but this time we decided to try some in Oceanside. After visiting both Oceanside Brewing and Legacy Brewing we came away with a less than enthusiastic review of their IPA's so we decided to stop at Northern Pine on the way back and we're glad we did. They had 3 IPA's on tap and all of them were great. Old school bitter and hoppy, I'm not a big fan of the newer "juicy" or "tropical" styles of IPA's. This brewery is an easy four. I have been here three times now before writing this review. Tonight they had their IPA Get Yer Gloves pouring. Outstanding IPA with a malty, creamy flow on your tastebuds. Nice selection of hops. Right amount of wonderfully aromatic hops to make this 7.8% IPA incredibly delicious and consumable on a very warm Oceanside evening. They have a rotation of some other very good IPA's and pale ales. I prefer an IPA around 7% and pale ales around 6.5%. My only criticism is that there lighter versions can be a bit grainy tasting versus more of a creamy or malty taste. Not necessarily a negative just a preference in style. My wife is kind of split on the enjoyability on the lighter beers. Still able to find something she likes. Tried their cream ale tonight literally minutes after the newest batch was tapped. I am not a fan of this style of beer but I did drink all of my taster and came to appreciate the smoothness and clean aftertaste. They will describe it as a more traditional cream ale. If you like this style I would suggest trying it here and leaving your thoughts on Yelp. The atmosphere here is chill. Very relaxed with an almost neighborhood like feel. Kids and dogs welcomed but never a distraction or drawback. Plenty of seating space. The additional enjoyments are the food from That Boy Good BBQ and the ease of getting in and out of this part of Oceanside close to the beach and I-5. Worth the visit! More...

I had no idea this place existed until some friends suggested going here for drinks. I've driven by a million times and just have never paid any attention to the building since it's not clearly marked. .. a black painted building. The space itself is shared with a restaurant called That Boy Good (TBG), which doesn't have any vegan friendly options. Even the French fries are in a shared frier with other animal products. Bummer! We just brought our own food to eat so we could enjoy some nice cold beer with it.I was a little bummed on how hot it was inside. There were quite a bit of people and apparently, they had just finished brewing so it was even hotter. I enjoyed the lagers for how how it was but at first we settled for a flight of 5 beers. I enjoyed the creamy one, "Turning Point" the best. The Mexican lager was another treat but I wish it was served with a lime ("Sunny Vibes") and the IPA, "Clear as Duck," was another good one. The "Beertenders" were friendly . The owners & brewers knew I didn't like beer so took an interest until they found something that I enjoyed---> sour beers! The space is beautiful, yet functional. Amazing, the dirty fries with pork was delicious!!! I was upset when I started getting full. I just wanted to keep eating. They have an amazing selection of brews on tap. Everything local or home brewed. For me the big plus was that they had other stuff than IPAs. Highly recommended!!! More...

Northern Pine is an up and coming brewery in Oceanside that has now been open for a little over a year. They were smart enough to connect with TBG BBQ, knowing BBQ and beer are always a winning combo and this way they don't have to worry about the extra work of food and can focus on brewing delicious beers. Let's be honest, not all of their beers are delicious, to me, and it's unlikely they will all be to any true beer connoisseur. BUT most days they have such a great selection you'd have to be a real picky Percy to not truly enjoy at least one of the many they usually have one tap. Without a doubt- one of my favorite things about NP is the atmosphere, it's is not stuck up at all, has such a relaxing vibe, and is very family friendly. Behind the bar area are games for adults as well as games and sometimes coloring books for kiddos. Our favorite brewery and they recently won best new brewery in San Diego! Such a friendly, welcoming place with excellent craft beer. We love getting a flight and trying whatever is new on tap. Lots of seating options, kid and dog friendly. There are tasty food options at the bbq place inside if you get hungry. I REALLY wanted to give this spot more stars. What more do you need other than great beer, great service and BBQ?! I tried two brews: salt-n-pmpkn (pumpkin gose) and idahome (IPA with American Two Row and Idaho 7 hops). Delicious beers. I could just keep drinking.... the service was super friendly also. Now for my super critical POV: there's no signage. Coming down Mission, the GPS put us in the parking lot but the building wasn't clearly marked. After ONE YEAR, you would think they'd have this worked out. And finally, the rustic bar ruined my favorite sweater. Loved the decor and the barstools were uber comfortable, but one exit from the barstool resulted in a snag on the bar. Super sad face! More...
