Glad I visited this restaurant.  I sat at the bar and Autumn was my server. She was awesome and I loved that she engaged a conversation with me since I'm traveling and eating alone. H Autumn!!!I She spaced out my food so I won't be eating everything at once. Food: Delicious BreadFried CalamariGlass of CabernetCarbonara The food was all amazingly delicious and cooked to my liking. The Carbonara was creamy and I loved the pancetta. Don't let the plain and unassuming exterior fool you, this restaurant is lights-out fantastic. Service was beyond just good, it was personal - we actually felt a fun connection to our fantastic server. Plus, the genuinely friendly owner came around a couple times to check on us, and really made us feel like family. The complimentary bread had a nicely crunchy crust  and a soft, chewy center, perfect for the pesto-based dipping sauce provided - pure deliciousness. Everyone loved their entrees. I got the gnocchi with "pink sauce," which was eyes-rolling-to-the-back-of-your-head amazing. This was easily the best restaurant experience of my week here in the Orlando area. Grazie mille, Nonno's, I'll be back. More...

I had heard rave reviews of the restaurant for awhile now on both Yelp and FB. I've had it bookmarked, and when my 5th wedding anniversary came up this past Friday I suggested to hubs we give it a try. When we arrived we were told about a 25 minute wait but it ended up being much less than that, we only waited around 10. The hostess was just lovely. She had offered us 2 seats at the bar as opposed to any wait, but my leg is still in a boot so higher chairs are a no-no. Our server Molly was so sweet, so knowledgeable, and just gave us terrific service. She came around just enough, not too much it too little. The owner stopped by our table and what a lovely gentleman he is. We ordered a moscato and a Peroni (and waters) for beverages and then the calamari to start. What a delight. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly fried. We both loved the tomato sauce it's served with. Our entrees came with soup or salad and I got the garden salad and hubs chose the soup of the day which was a lovely homemade bean soup. My salad was very fresh and I loved the tangy house Italian vinaigrette. I ordered the shrimp Portofino and hubs got the sausage and peppers. Best Italian food we've had in a while. Also the best service. The places is smaller, in a little strip mall off a busy road. But the ambiance is warm and inviting and reminds me of the Italian restaurants in NY my family frequented. The staff is so kind and make you feel like family, even on your first visit. I ordered the tiramisu to go and what a treat! I enjoyed it immensely. I can't wait to try more of their dishes and desserts. Hubs is as excited to go again as I am which is really great. This place is a gem!!! More...

While searching for Italian restaurants for dinner last week, we stumbled upon this gem. Can't believe we did not know about this place before. Went on a Saturday night and it was packed. Luckily they had a table for 2 and we were seated instantly. Went over the menu and was glad to see 3 vegetarian pasta entrees, which normally we don't see at other Italian places. Bruschetta was really good. We split Fettuccine Primavera, and loved it. Was surprised to see they had good amount of veggies in it. Base was garlic and olive oil, which had perfect seasoning and tasted really good. Not too garlicky or oily. Plus point, it wasn't dry! Since we split the entrée we also got a side salad. They also served complimentary warm bread with housemade pesto sauce (which we really enjoyed). The service was super fast. Our server was warm and friendly. Since it's a family owned restaurant it had a very cozy feeling. The owner stopped by every table and asked if the food was good. Also mentioned these are his mothers recipes from Sicily. Looking forward to go back again and try other menu items. More...

Although we had heard this place was good, after last night I would warn you not to waste your time. My wife just retired and I decided to take her out to dinner with our family, to celebrate her retirement. Two weeks prior to our planned dinner, I phoned Nonno's on a weekday afternoon, to see if I could make a reservation for 8 people on Saturday evening, November 6th. The woman I spoke with told me that they don't take reservations on Friday's and Saturday's because they were a small place. I explained that we would be coming from 40 minutes away and since we were traveling so far, would she make an exception and let me make a reservation. She said no and then rudely rushed me off the phone even though I still had other questions. I was annoyed at her rudeness for cutting me off but since I still needed to know what time it would be best to arrive on a Saturday evening to beat their typical busy time and thereby minimize our wait, I decided to call back the next afternoon. I spoke with a woman again and I said that 8 of us would be coming from a long way away for dinner on Saturday, November 6th and since they don't take reservations, I wanted to know what time they generally got busy on Saturday evening, so we could arrive earlier and minimize our time to wait to be seated. She told me they usually get busy by 6:30 PM , so it would be best to arrive by 6:00 PM or before. The 8 of us arrived at 5:40 PM on Saturday, November 6th. I dropped my wife off out front, so she could put our names in, while we parked our cars. After parking the cars we went inside just as my wife was walking out and she said the woman refused to seat us that evening because we were a party of 8 and they were just a small place! So here's my question... Both times I called them in advance I mentioned we were a party of 8 people. Why didn't she tell me on either of my phone calls that they don't seat parties of 8 on a Saturday evening!!!! Needless to say I was furious after calling them twice and then driving all that way for nothing!! Now we were stuck on a Saturday evening at pretty much prime time trying to find a place for 8 of us to celebrate my wife's retirement!!! Bad business all the way around!!!!! My suggestion... Stay away!!!! More...

This place is really a "hidden jewel" in a plaza that's seen better days. Located in the old Gordon's Food Service Plaza, Nonno's tranports you to Sicily. We arrived after 8pm and from the outside, you can't see anything but the sign. Is it empty? Is it full? Is it open?  Well... they were certainly open and bustling with activity. The place is small and quaint, but was full of life. We were told it would be about 15 minutes to be seated, so we took a menu and could not decide what to choose. There were so many unique items to choose from and familiar items too.  We were seated and left for a few minutes... I honestly think they were so busy, we were inadvertently forgotten. We called for someone to help us and Allison came to our aid. Even though she was not supposed to wait on our table, she took the initiative to help us and literally catered to our every need.  From the sweet iced tea, to the hot and fresh bread with pesto sauce, we were instantly delighted with every single item served. Our appetizer of choice: mozzarella sticks... so gooey and cheesy with a side of marinara sauce. My wife loved the cheese, no fakey cold stuff here. My wife had the Four Layer Lasagna: Meat sauce, seasoned ricotta, romano, mozzarella. She could not put her fork down!!!!! I chose the "Maria" Style with Penne Pasta: Breaded cutlet topped with prosciutto, mozzarella (baked), Marsala wine and mushrooms. The prosciutto and mozzarella were delicious... I could have just eaten that. The Marsala they use is imported, which means they cut no corners here. It paired perfectly with the Penne and the mushrooms.  Plates come with a choice of house salad, Cesar salad or soup of the day. We had the Cesar salad and loved each crunchy crouton and savored the dressing. At the end of our meal, we were surprised to have mini cannoli "on the house" since we had a longer than normal wait when we arrived. The staff really make you feel like family. My wife and I are definitely coming back with our family and friends to share the love! More...

Had heard good things about Nonno's and read the reviews. Saturday I ordered appetizers, dinner, and desserts for 4 to go. Now there is a two part to my review: the food was ready when I arrived. Everyone loved the food so 5 Stars food dinner and dessert. My 3 Star part is the disappointment I had when walking in the restaurant. Not one person in the packed place had a mask on. Not one staff member or a patron. I was surprised at the staff not wearing a mask while handling open food and drink. I haven't been in one Target or Home Depot or Lowe's where the employees at least wear a mask. I will not be returning to a place where the owner and employees do not take any health precautions. In response to your comment on my review. I'm not sure the word "clearly"? We  also weren't looking for a "pizzeria" I just assumed  an "Italian restaurant " like many others on Yelp would be connected to pizza . I don't go into a burger joint expecting bbq , but it's always a plus . I don't understand your arrogant reply to my review but no we will not be returning. The one thing that is clear is that you apparently pride yourself in not serving pizza, I don't see the logic behind that ,  you need the business though being that you had one waitress and almost nobody in there and I know why. Your average , to below average food is over priced as well. Not very professional of a response neither . More...
