Our server was lovely. She was so nice and pleasant. Our meal was good. We have gluten and dairy allergies and our server was awesome to accommodate our needs. The octopus was not as good as it has been in the past. It was over blackened, dry and didn’t taste as good as we remembered. The main course, the roasted potatoes were cold, but still tasted good. We didn’t complain because we didn’t want to seem ungrateful to our server. Because it was our anniversary as we were given a complimentary after dinner drink. Fantastic food and a festive atmosphere for a Christmas celebration. Even though the server addressed me me as "dear" (am I THAT old ) throughout the meal, we had a marvelous, memorable evening at Nico -- as always!

I would have given this place 5 stars but I’m only giving 4 stars because it took 15 minutes for our server to come to our table once we were sat. I had a reservation and expected better. Truly a hidden gem of Gilbert. Michell is seriously the friendliest, knowledgable bartender in town. Great GF options! Food was fabulous as usual. Whereas there have been times in the past when it was just too noisy, it was just fine-no shouting over the table. Maybe it was the time (6pm), or seating (aisle/booth), but it was a full house. We have dined at Nico Heirloom Kitchen twice and both times my husband and I remarked that it is the best place for a nice dinner in Downtown Gilbert. Wait staff was fantastic - appetizer a charred octopus with arugula and toasted garbanzo beans was extremely good - wife's shrimp scampi was fair to good - my Pappardelle pasta and meat plate just OK - meat had an oily finish and pasta (noodles) just seemed under cooked - red sangria cocktail was nicely crafted - noise level not for us - total aound $86 with tip - beauty of downtown Gilbert these days is that there are so many choices

Food has been up and down since Nico opened. The lowlight was a meal back in the spring of 2019 where a piece of meat arrived uncooked. Our experience was mixed. The service was amazing. The food was incredible. But the odd part was the ambience. One one side of the table was a you couple more interested in their social media than each other and on the other was a first date where he could stop talking about his family's wealth and she had to make sure his family was wealthy. We have been to Nico a few times, as it reminds me of the Common Grill in Chelsea, MI. I love the calamari; served with mint, it’s a unique twist. I ordered the Rose, but they were out. We had the meatball appetizer this time, and both my husband and I found them to be bland. My husband had the filet which was very good. We shared the asparagus which was also very good; love the bacon with it. I had the rigatoni with pork ragu. The ragu was really good, but the pasta was cold. It was a bit disappointing, and I wanted to love it. I asked for a box to take the other half home, and the waitress never brought it back boxed up. Better luck next time! More...
