It's been 2 years since we had the pleasure of dining at Nicks. I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! Of course my husband went with the famous breaded tenderloin and I branched our to try the fresh sausage sandwich. Both were well prepared and delicious! I had onion rings and they were also good. The tenderloin and onion rings were both crispy without being greasy. We of course had to have the equally famous sugar cream pie for dessert which is actually more like creme brûlée in a pie crust. Downtown Huntington, IN. Nick's is the epitome of small town family owned diners. The slogan of "go for the tenderloin, stay for the pie" is exactly what I did. Who has "pie flights"? 4.5 stars. The tenderloin was hot and delicious, crispy outside and tender inside. Juicy, not dry at all. The sugar cream pie were wonderful! My husband wasn't as crazy about his pork nachos, which were smothered in a cheese-whiz-orange cheese sauce. The service was friendly and professional, but terribly slow due to their computer system down. Assuming this is not a regular ocurrance I would predict that the service is normally good. First time to visit. Live in Avon Indiana traveled 2 and half hours to eat here. Quaint 60's style restaurant known for their large tenderloins. Everything was fresh. Beautiful presentation of food. Within an hour 3 people had their picture taken with the Nick's Kitchen sign. That only happens when the place is top knotch. The tenderloin was crispy yet melted like butter. And there was still a good amount of meat. Some tenderloins from other places is all breading and no meat. Nick's does it right. The sugar cream pie I can only compare to Wicks. Because of Wicks, I thought I didn't like sugar cream pie. This place changed my opinion of them. At first I could almost feel the sugary gritty goodness. But then, the pie, again melted like butter.
