If I could put zero stars I would, clearly do not come here right before closing. Showed up 15 minutes before closing, they already didn’t look happy about us walking in because she was already cleaning her grill. So we ordered, yes I made a mistake and roast beef instead of cheesesteak, but I promptly told them I meant cheesesteak, the girl on the grill looks over and says, “uh....it’s the same thing”, I said one is roast beef and one is cheesesteak, she continued to cook what I had already told I did not want. The guy that took our order then continues to try to convince me that roast beef was better and has more flavor. I was speechless. At any point they could of told me they would have to charge me more to make what I wanted, but they simply refused. Our food was on that grill as long as it took to get our fountain drink. They give us our food and we get to car, our cheese isn’t even melted. We love this place, we drove from the Dalles to eat here but the customer service was horrendous!! Update.... Appealing, Clean and bright dining area. Friendly and eager to greet you as you enter. Great personalities taking orders and making food. For months people from all over say try the NY sub shop. So finally i did. Counter service. Small out door seating. It's mainly a to-go place. Lots of grilled meat and veggies and melted cheese. Pick one of their sammys or build your own. I enjoyed it. Extremely tasty, but very filling. Indulgent with rich mayo and sauce. Generous portions of meat and cheese. In the end, the guilt overtook the pleasure and i found myself thinking what will be the next purpose for my visit? After a long morning bike ride. Thats it. I'll get the bike out and dust it off. This is my favorite sub sandwich shop! It reminds me of the really great sub sandwich shops of my youth. Sadly, they all disappeared with the rise of Subway. This place makes me have hope for humanity! Great food, great service, smiling faces taking your order and making your food. The bread is so good and the ingredients are fresh! The soup is good, the cookies are good. Seriously, what's not to like? My favorite is the cold turkey and provolone with all the toppings. Trust me. The subs from this place are amazing? The meats are Boars Head and their breads are amazing! We ordered and split an Italian and they grill the contents and put it in this fresh roll! !We also used them as our food for guests at a wedding after-party. You can't go wrong here in whatever sandwich you order. The bread makes everything!! Besides the bread, Eric is the best. One of those places where "everyone remembers your name" . It's been tradition for my family to stop at this NYCSS the last few years as we head back home from the coast. I always get the "Battery".  They put tuna, not tuna salad, in this sandwich.
