Q&As

We love building relationships with our patients and partnering with patients toward their goals.

Our community mostly has providers who conduct cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Alone, CBT cannot resolve more complex problems because it doesn't take into account the context of the person's environment as well as their history, especially related to childhood problems. I was motivated to start a practice that addresses the more complex needs that patients face to achieve long-term results and better outcomes.

Clients should choose a provider who offers the best fit in terms of philosophy around treatment, accessibility of treatment, and with consideration for preferential factors like gender and age. If we are not the best fit, we offer a referral to patients.

Yes we offer a confidential telehealth service to patients who wish to access services remotely or who are unable to reach the office. Our providers are credentialed in New York State and, by law, can only provide telehealth services to people with a primary residence in New York State.

Occupational therapy (OT) brings a unique perspective to an integrative mental health practice. We have over 12 years of experience focused on how mental health challenges impact one's ability to engage in the "occupations" that matter to them, which can include self-care, work, leisure activities, and social participation.

We consider the mind, body, and spirit when evaluating your wellbeing. We look at how mental health symptoms affect daily routines, sleep, sensory processing, and social interactions.

We work collaboratively with you to identify meaningful goals related to daily life. These goals might involve improving self-care routines, managing stress through specific activities, or returning to work or school.

We use a variety of interventions that focus on engagement in meaningful activities. This could include:
Activity pacing and scheduling: Helping you develop routines and strategies for managing your energy levels.
Cognitive and sensory strategies: Teaching techniques to improve focus, manage anxiety, or regulate emotions through sensory input.
Adaptive techniques: Identifying tools or modifications to help you perform daily tasks more easily.
Mindfulness and self-care: Incorporating practices like meditation, yoga, or relaxation techniques to promote overall well-being.

You can learn strategies to manage your mental health symptoms, participate more fully in life, and develop a sense of accomplishment and control over your life.
OT can also work alongside other therapies like psychotherapy and medication to provide a well-rounded treatment plan.

Our team of practitioners support patient's health and wellness goals through nutrition, exercise, sleep and lifestyle habits to reduce stress and improve daily functioning.

We work with you towards achieving well-being, working both in the clinical setting and within the home environment.

We conduct holistic assessments, considering physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of a your well-being. We work collaboratively with therapists and other healthcare providers to develop personalized treatment plans. We provide education on the mind-body connection and the impact of lifestyle choices on mental health.

We offer complementary therapies alongside traditional psychotherapy, such as:
Mindfulness and relaxation techniques (meditation, deep breathing); Nutritional counseling and guidance on the connection between food and mood;
Sleep hygiene education and strategies for improved sleep quality; and May introduce clients to other modalities like neurofeedback and photobiomodulation depending on individual needs.

We empower patients by teaching self-care strategies and healthy lifestyle habits to manage mental health symptoms effectively. We provide education on mental health conditions and available resources, offer emotional support, and act as a patient advocate.

In the home, we provide hands-on support with daily living activities (if needed) while promoting independence. We offers guidance on incorporating self-care practices and healthy routines into the patient's daily life within their home environment.
We connect clients with community resources and support systems.
Our holistic integrative nurse bridges the gap between clinical care and everyday life.

We use quantified data in core areas of cognition—memory, attention, reasoning, and verbal ability—that are key to our quality of life to help design the best treatment plan and school or work recommendations so that our patients can perform at their best.

We provide a comprehensive written report that provides feedback on strengths, gap areas and tools to improve as well as recommendations for accommodations or modifications for school or work. This avoids long wait times and expenses for a Neuropsychologist appointment and report.

We use Cambridge Brain Sciences because they are a leading provider of cognitive assessment tools, featuring 12 quick, fun and scientifically-validated cognitive tasks that produce objective measures across multiple cognitive domains.

Having a scientifically validated, objective measure of cognitive function is fundamental to understanding which brain functions and regions may require the most focus. With this information, we then tailor our treatment plans to each individual’s needs—and re-assess along the way to ensure we are seeing improvements in key focus areas—helping produce the best possible patient outcome.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic modality in which ketamine is used as a complement to psychotherapy to help eligible patients experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms. We take on the psychotherapy portion of the experience, while Journey Clinical’s medical team supports you on all medical aspects. This includes determining eligibility, developing a custom treatment plan, prescribing the medicine and monitoring outcomes.

Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD. Ketamine has rapidly-
acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect within 1-2 hrs. after treatment. It works by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors as well as by stimulating AMPA receptors, which are thought to help form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood. Ketamine has also been shown to enhance overall neuroplasticity for lasting symptom improvement.

We use a lozenge form of Ketamine prescribed by Journey Clinical after our initial evaluation and determination of the appropriateness of this treatment.
