NAMI.org has great resources for people who want to know facts about mental illnesses and to get information about support in their own communities. It is a site for services for family members as well. It has a fantastic Crisis Helpline. Don't ever think there is no help or that services will cost too much. Every community/county is required to have a mental health service center where services are free, More...

Mental health management in NY is a worrying issue. I dare to say that 60% of mental patients are not diagnosed properly. Clinics as Brightpoint not only violate human rights, it is one of many clinics plagued with corruption . Malpractice, ambition and lack of scruples of many mental health clinics put in danger the security and well being of many NY residents. It is urgent that a commission investigates everything in referral to mental health services in NY. This situation is turning very dangerous. Situations as mismanagement, lack of expertise and political compromise place the entire city at risk. Lets not wait for a massacre to occur to be looking on who put the blame and do insensible proselitism. Mental health has to be raken care in a responsible and sensible way. The political party game cannot define the state public policies towards the mental health management. Economical interests cannot define this public policies either. #RespectThePeople More...

A typical day involved answering phone requests, responding to emails, electronic filing, working with the SALSA database, posting on Twitter and Facebook. I learned time management, how to work together towards deadlines and to be flexible to attend outreach events, attend public speaking events, and to work collaboratively in an office environment.Workplace culture is busy, productive and nourishing. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with people who are so dedicated to improving the lives of people with mental health issues.
