Wow! I recently went to Munchables for a cake for my husband's 30th birthday and I am so happy I did. From the designing to the devouring and from the presentation to the price, it was a wonderful experience.
I'd first like to thank the lady who assisted me with my order. I didn't catch her name, which was goofy of me, but I appreciated her so much. She was very knowledgeable, intuitive, and professional; when I came into the bakery, she stopped what she was working on to patiently answer my questions and help me envision how to spruce up my base idea. I was particularly grateful to her because even when I plan out what to say in face-to-face situations, my thoughts tend to get jumbled and come out of my mouth rather stupidly, but it was no matter with this woman. She didn't rush me or make me feel like an idiot. I walked away informed and excited.
Indeed, Munchables was the very first bakery I visited on my quest for price estimates and creative input, but when I left, I had the feeling I would be back.
Here's the thing that really sold me on using this place instead of the others I checked out: their special cake flavor options. They offered a cheesecake-flavored cake as well as a white chocolate cake, both of which sounded like they'd be incredible with the chocolate-and-raspberry concept I had in my head. No one else brought up flavors such as these when I spoke with them, which I wasn't terribly impressed with. (Side note: all the other bakeries I visited told me that one specific detail of my idea was impossible to pull off, but Munchables was confident it could be done and they ended up doing it perfectly, which I WAS impressed with. This showed real knowledge of the craft and I'm still smiling about it to this day.)
When it was time to pick up the cake, I was over the moon: the toppings of fresh raspberries and chocolate ganache brought to life the exact image in my head. Later, every one of our partygoers ooh'd and ahh'd over it just like I had. Then we ate it and we all died a little bit because the pairing of cheesecake-flavored cake and fresh raspberry filling was utterly amazing. I couldn't help having high expectations after all I'd been through, and they were very much met.
And what was the price for this special cake that had to look beautiful, feed lots of people, and impress the love of my life on this milestone birthday? Only $30. I don't think my mind will ever NOT be blown by that.
Long review short: we Cottrells are picking Munchables for all of our future bakery needs, and we wholeheartedly recommend that you do, too.
