This place has the probably best Honey Glazed Babyback Ribs in the world. They are falling off the bones and the Honey glaze is as tasty as can be. They come with a special rice and a coice of two sides. Try the potato salad, this is marvelous. But also the Cole slaw is a good choice. But you can also find a good variety of New Orleans style menus (Yambalaya or Gumbo) as well as dishes with an indian twist. The style of the restaurant is special. When you come in you are invited to have a beer out of the coffin (yeah, coffin, not joking) and on the walls you can see voodoo style masks. Mr. Bones! This place is worth the trip to Anna Maria all by itself. Food was awesome! Had the ribs-could have had seconds they were so good. Service was great. Love the Day of the Dead decor, and who doesn't appreciate having a coffin as a beer chest. I was very impressed by their green policies. They serve water on request. No straws. 4 Stars for fabulous food (with plenty of vegetarian options- at a BBQ joint?! YES.) and a dish I'm still dreaming about: Biryani Rice. When you walk in, you'll notice the coffin full of drinks as well as a sign telling you not to look for any salt, pepper, ketchup, etc. because the food is expertly made by New Orleans trained chefs and no improvements are needed. It literally says "Don't even ask."So... I have thoughts. lolI appreciate the confidence in their flavors (and you'll see in my review- they're legit), but not so sure about such a bold sign when you're in the hospitality biz. I get that their vibe is bold af, buuuuut, was a bit of a turn off.Luckily, their food lived up to their sign's hype.Faves:- Biryani Rice is the #1 recommendation and I need to repeat this. Biryani Rice is the #1 recommendation. For both vegetarians and meat-eaters.You can just get the rice as a meal or, if you eat meat, you can get this as the Chicken Kebab w/Rice Biryani (Organic chicken breast marinated in our tikka sauce, grilled with onion, mushrooms, green pepper and tomato. It is served over rice biryani, with sides of mango and coriander chutneys and a cucumber raita. [No side dishes]) This dish is still on my mind. I tried everyone's food and this was outstanding.- The Baby Back Ribs are very tender and lean (versus the fattier spare ribs). I had them smothered in the BBQ sauce and loved them. Lots of sauce, lots of meat, lots of burnt edges.- The Quesadilla (vegetarian) includes vegetarian black beans and rice, smothered in two kinds of cheese, folded into a 12" tortilla, served with sour cream, salsa, lettuce, pepperoncini and tomatoes on the side. It is crispy and cheesy at the same time. Burnt cheese is everyone's jam and even the non-vegetarians were drooling over this dish.Overall, I'd definitely be back. And DAMN- I'm glad that they could back up the smack talk of their signage. haha More...

So you wouldn’t expect it from a BBQ place called “Mr. Bones” but this the best vegan menu on the island! The Thai Curry with Tofu is one of the all-time best vegan meals of my life! The owner Charlotte visited with us and told us that they have been here for 27 years and are always looking for ways to have something for everyone. Really enjoyed trying Mr. Bones! I'm a Texas girl and booooy do I know barbecue. I was a little sad that they didn't offer a variety of spuds or dinner rolls like I'm used to.
