We spend time here as often as is possible and have always had a marvelous time. Everything about it is first class and then some, if that is possible. From the beautifully appointed rooms to the views from most, the food and service, can't be beaten. Stayed here Nov 24, checked out Nov 26. Best hotel I have ever stayed in. My wife and I were flying back from our Honeymoon in Maui, and decided to stay in Monterey for a few nights. It was well worth it. The service was great, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room. The room service was very good too, and a real treat was how to order breakfast. They leave a card for you to hang on the door, and you mark off what time you would like breakfast, all your choices, and any special requests. Front desk was great, and Valet was including in your stay. The parking here is non existent, which is why the Valet is included. If we ever go to Monterey again, we will definitely stay here. Absolutely outstanding service. All of the help staff was incredibly helpful. There were times they were so fast they beat me to my room. Even in the face of mischarges and mistakes, the Plaza quickly and easily resolved our issues. There is a wonderful, affordable local coffee stop within the hotel which we visited every morning. An extraordinary hotel and spa. Spacious and gorgeous common areas, lovely well appointed rooms and suites, RIGHT ON THE WATER! We went to sleep surrounded by the soft sounds of the ocean. One sign of a first-class hotel is how they deal with the occasional problems that may arise during a stay. After a couple initial hiccups during my recent stay, management and staff listened to my concerns, made corrections and then did everything possible to ensure the remainder of my stay was pleasurable and problem free. One of the managers even provided me with his cell phone number if anything additional was needed. It is without any hesitation that I say the Monterey Plaza & Spa is a first-class hotel. ||||From the spacious well-appointed rooms with amazing views of Monterey Bay & Ocean to the professional service, you will not be disappointed in this hotel centrally located on a peaceful part of Cannery Row. My husband and I recently stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel for a kid-free get away and it did not disappoint. This was our first time to the hotel and we would definitely return. The location was perfect! We enjoyed an ocean front room where we enjoyed a beautiful view, sounds of the waves, and even saw otters, dolphins, seals, and 2 whales (with use of the handy binoculars in the room) from our balcony! It was an easy walk to shopping on cannery row and to the aquarium. We ate at the Schooners restaurant quite a bit since it was so convenient. The Chippino was excellent! Tidal Coffee was also excellent for grabbing coffee to sit by the outdoor firepit in the afternoon. We had considered another nearby hotel but are glad we chose Monterey Plaza instead. As a family, we’ve spent the last 30+ thanksgiving weekends at the Monterey plaza. I’ve been going there as a teenager with my parents and know we are taking our kids and extended family. || This year while having lunch on our last day at schooners we forgot our favorite umbrella. I guess the food was so good we just left with smiles. Two days later when we were home, we remembered we had forgotten it at the restaurant. We called the hotel late night to see if they had it. Wes at the front desk said he would follow up in the morning when the restaurant opened and would check with housekeeping. We didn’t have much hope when we went to bed. However the next morning we got an email from Chris at the plaza saying they had our umbrella. We were happy but didn’t know how to get it. They were grateful enough to ship it to us. || There is a reason why we keep going back to the Monterey Plaza year after year. My wife & I celebrated our 25th Anniversary over the Thanksgiving holiday and were really surprised when we entered our Ocean Balcony Suite and found a nice bottle of Pinot Noir and a fruit basket with a handwritten letter from Hillary the reservations manager welcoming us back! We have been coming to Monterey for several years and the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is simply the best hotel in all of Monterey and Carmel area. The king bed we slept on was the best sleep ever! We found the mattress was from a local business called Monterey Mattress and was so good we purchased two from Brian at Monterey Mattress to send back home. Please keep those mattresses at MPHS! The Thanksgiving Day buffet was wonderful and the Schooner's restaurant has the best seafood on Cannery Row. Upon our departure we ran into the new general manager Chris Sommers and told him how much we appreciated the hospitality and service from all the staff at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa. I rarely give 5 stars but this hotel is great. Valet-friendly, quick, organized. Front desk - personal, professional, polite, bell boy - helpful, polite, friendly, engaging. The room - it seems overstated to say, but it is perfect. Clean. Great ocean view. Let your stress wash away. Room service - on time, great food, ample servings, decent price.
