Went into Mongo’s while I was waiting to pick up my son. Figured it would be another mediocre iced coffee from another cliche coffee shop. Man, was I wrong! From the smell of roasted coffee beans when I first walked in, to the visual, industrial setting, Mongo’s is like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s basically a top grade coffee bean roasting facility with a killer cafe built in. I am as big an iced coffee snob as you will ever meet. I drink it year round and it’s just how I prefer my coffee. The problem is, 99.9% of coffee shops don’t have a clue how to make it properly. That includes the large chains of coffee “experts”. The iced coffee at mongo’s was fresh, smooth virtually no bitterness and the underlying earthy tones of chocolate and caramel were unbelievable. The PERFECT type of bean for iced coffee. I grabbed a 12 oz bag of their Black & Tan on the way out and I’m going back tomorrow for 2.5 LB bag. If you truly love coffee, you have to put Mongo’s on your bucket list.
