we went there not knowing what to expect. it was during the week and was not busy. Everything that we ordered was absolutely amazing. our table had the wings, short rib meal and sliders, and one of there signature hamburgers. we can not say enough how good the food was. we later learned that they were on the hit show, Restaurant Impossible in 2019. 5 stars!I think our awesome waitress was on the TV show too. we will definitely go back. thank you for making g our friends 50th birthday dinner a hit! Last night was our fifth and final visit to Ginger Monkey. Our last visit was June of 2020. That visit didn’t go very well either. We decided to give Ginger Monkey another shot after reading about the dueling pianos show they were doing. Who doesn’t love dueling pianos? I paid the $10 per person to go to the show and made a reservation for 7pm. We got there right on time and there was about six groups ahead of us waiting for seating. We only waited a few minutes to get seated, which is pretty much where the positive experience ended. Our server came over and greeted us after we were there about 10 minutes. We hadn’t decided what we wanted yet but asked for water while we waited. We got water about 10 minutes after that. We had blue tickets we received when we checked in and we asked our server what they were for. She said she wasn’t sure but then she corrected herself and said she thought they were for well drinks or beer. She waffled a little but took our drink orders: two gin and tonics and a gin martini. About 10 minutes later we got our drinks (another positive - the drinks were good). We placed a food order: prawn caprese and capicola flat bread. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and I tried to flag our server down for silverware but she never came by so I asked someone else. I never got the silverware from the other person so my friend literally yelled “excuse me” to our server as she was serving a table across from us. Finally got silverware and was able to eat my meal - but it just wasn’t good. The prawns were bland and the flat bread tasted like it was microwaved and it was literally the bread, cheese and capicola, didn’t seem to be seasoned at all. Our server came over and asked how everything was - and we told her it wasn’t good at all and my boyfriend let her know that the service was too slow. She didn’t say anything about that and moved on to serve the next table! At this point we had finished our drinks and wanted to order more but she was nowhere to be seen. She popped by again a little while later but only to give us limes that were meant for another table. We told her they weren’t for us and she apologized and said “it has been a day.” After being there an hour and not getting to even order a second drink, our server came back and asked again how everything was. My boyfriend again told her, not good. As a matter of fact her told her that it was terrible and that the service was appallingly slow. He wasn’t a jerk about it, he gave the feedback she asked for. She then apologized and said she would let the manager know. We thought that was the right thing to do so we could give the manager our feedback. Jackson (I think that’s his name) comes storming over with attitude. He asked what the problem was and my boyfriend told him that it was our fifth try there and it seemed like nothing had improved. Jackson didn’t respond with anything relative to our experience and instead said “why do you keep coming back?” 100% NOT the response a professional and accountable owner would have. My boyfriend tried to answer and explain that we are locals and we wanted to support Ginger Monkey but the manager didn’t want to listen. Instead he asked us to show compassion to the wait staff as they are understaffed due to COVID impacts and that the food industry as a whole is having difficulties. I can get behind that idea - except that if you’re already running a business that is short staff, why would you host a high volume event like dueling pianos? He just kept asking why we came back, and we told him we wanted to give it another try. A year ago this guy was on TV crying and begging for salvation and rescue for his business, we were trying to support the business. He refused to admit that there was a problem and my boyfriend suggested he read Yelp reviews because the problem he tried to fix with the TV show still existed. He said no, that he disagreed and again asked why we came back. At this point we realized that we weren’t going to convince him he was wrong so we decided we would leave. He said that he would cover our food and stopped short of telling us to get out. As we were leaving he said “don’t come back.” And in all honesty we went to Ginger Monkey for the first time in 2017 and all of the problems that we experienced last night, existed the very first time we went there. The Dueling Pianos was REALLY good. Fun songs and the musicians kept us all entertained. The Wings (grilled and tossed in Buffalo Sauce) are on my TOP 3 list of All Time Favorite wings 🍗

We sat on the dog friendly patio. I was told they have a dog menu. I had a small salad with Steak and it was delicious. Also had their deviled egg that were scrumptious. Yumm.
