The curriculum was laid out well and the instructors worked with students to get them through the course efficiently. The hands on experience was valuable and every aspect of the course is done in a particular way for a reason. All in all, a good experience.

Excellent experience! The instructors are helpful, patient and ready when you are. I learned over 100 drinks and bottles and I could make my own schedule to fit around my 2 jobs. You mix drinks using the real bottles, though no real alcohol, so it gives you a feel for the real thing. Everything goes at the pace you set for yourself, so if you can get through the class and learn everything in a week, awesome. If you need 1-2 months, the instructors are kind and open to your needs. I was nervous and made allot of mistakes in the beginning, but I became more calm and relaxed with the working environment the more I practiced and if I had any problem I just let the staff know. We are all there to learn and the staff will help you to the very end.BONUS: For a little extra money, you can continue going to the school just for practice anytime, as long as you call in advance to let them know you'll be there. I was SHOCKED!! It was 18 years ago that I paid and attended this school. Back then, they really set me up in a great position to go out and shine as a bartender. I made great money and had several successful years! But NOW... almost 15 years later, I got asked to bar tend for a very high end VIP group coming in for the Super Bowl. I have not poured a drink for years or much less remember ANY of them! I stopped back in to the school to see if I could get some help. The moment I walked in, Mark greeted me with open arms, "welcome back", and they started showing me all the latest and greatest once again, No charge! I even came back again with a list of special liquors being ordered from this VIP group and Phil pulled me aside and worked with me on some really great fancy drinks I could offer. Minnesota School of Bartending was a fun and rewarding experience for me! All the instructors are very professional and knowledgeable. They make you feel comfortable and care about your progress. I actually made a personal friendship with Phil and Ryan. They are very down to earth smart gentlemen. The owner Mark cares about your success and offers the best knowledge of mixology. I came back after signing up and not completing the course twenty years ago and it was all free. Once you pay, you are allowed back anytime to finish or refresh your memory. Minnesota School of Bartending goes above and beyond to deliver their services! Our daughter was married at the beginning of October at Hope Glen Farm in Cottage Grove. They provided bartending services for the wedding. Every necessary detail was shared and every question we had previous to the wedding was answered with patience and professionalism. The bartenders that worked at the wedding were efficient, kind and went out of their way to make sure guests were served quickly and with a flair of fun. Incredible place! If you're on the fence about starting here, take it from me - I made enough money in my very first night bartending to fully pay back the course tuition! All the staff here are extremely helpful, and the pace of the coursework is completely up to you. You can come and go as you please and finish the class in as little as 8-10 3 hour sessions. I had always wanted to know the skill of bar tending. The price was reasonable for me and I also appreciated the highly flexible hours to attend. The course consisted of many hours pouring drinks, spending time working on muscle memory, technique, and efficiency. The staff throughout this process was helpful and kind, always answering my questions and showing me the proper way to mix. While taking the final test, Mark (owner of the school) assured me of his confidence in my abilities. When he saw what I had learned and my genuine interest in bar tending he recommend I give a few people a call about some positions. I followed up and got an interview the same day which lead to a same day hire! I was thrilled to be placed so quickly. A few days later he recommend I give the Loews Hotel in Minneapolis a call and with his recommendation, I got a job at the Apothecary. Just like that, I was working in one of the best hotels in Minnesota.All that to show that I strongly recommend The Minnesota School of Bar Tending to anyone who is interested or curious about what it means to be a bar tender.
