OMG, LIKE, WOW!! I haven't been to Mitch's since early college days and decided to take my friend and coworker out for her birthday last week Friday. I was SO surprised at HOW LARGE Mitch's became! It's massive! Tons of tables and dining space now! Also, their menu, quite a change from what I had last time - which I believe was omakase featured. The restaurant still features their original restroom, but there is an expansion in the back. I think they took over another restaurant spot. They are BYOB and allow you to bring cake for birthdays! So I was happy to be able to bring in a birthday cake. The food was DELICIOUS! I love their new updated menu with platters, sushi sets, and ala carte sushi. We had:1 order of the standard sushi set (SO GOOD!!!)2 order of uni (A DREAM)1 order of snow crab (thiccc)1 order of seared toro (I didn't have this but it looked fantastic)1 order of spicy ahi roll (yummy!)1 order of amaebi (I didn't have this but it looked fantastic)1 order of hamachi kama (a very generous piece to share!)Everything was FANTASTIC!! I'm definitely going back!!! And I'm gonna bring all my friends!!!! The parking kind of sucks and the area is a little dark, but it's so worth going to Mitch's. Like, wow! More...

This is my second time coming here and this time I took my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. It was his first time coming here and so it was special. I made a reservation on Yelp and called in around noon to change the time to 6:30pm. The person over the phone was very accommodating and had openings at 6:30. We got here a little before 6:30 and was sat right away. They were busy for a Sunday night. We had ordered Michael's special platter, amaebi (sweet shrimp) sushi, lobster van van, anago (saltwater eel) sushi, tai (snapper) sushi, ankimo (monk fish liver), tako wasabi, a dozen of raw oysters, and miso soup to finish it off (forgot to take a picture).First off, I just wanted to say that the food was really good! The first time I came here was probably a good 5-6 years ago maybe? I can't remember exactly when I came here but it was for my friend's birthday and at that time I didn't eat sashimi or raw fish unless it was in poke! Lol after meeting my bf, that changed! Haha so when we came here for his birthday, I was able to enjoy the sushi with him! We didn't get sashimi because we wanted to try everything! Next time we will definitely get the platter that has everything! My bf wanted to get uni and the nogudoro(?) but then they were sold out that night, so we will be back to try that! Now on to the service, everyone there was really nice but I think the server boy we had that night is new? Not too sure but he seemed a little scattered and wandering around the restaurant a little bit. There was a little mishap that night. We had ordered the Michael's special platter but we waited for a while for it and it didn't come. We spoke with another server and he was really nice and said it was coming since they are busy. So we waited a little longer but it didn't come. (The server we spoke to, he didn't take our order so I'm sure he wasn't too aware of what was coming or not) So we waited lol then as we were waiting it was getting chilly, so I asked our little server boy with the glasses for a cup of hot tea and he said ok. Comes around but didn't get my hot tea and then he came again to check on us and I asked him again for the hot tea. Lol yet again he forgot! So then I saw this server girl and flagged her to get a cup of hot tea and she came back right away with my hot tea. I'm not sure how come the server boy didn't get it when the hot tea station is near where we were sitting! So as we still were sitting there our platter didn't come yet and the other server guy we asked saw us still sitting there, immediately turned around and spoke with someone or maybe spoke to our little server boy and we heard him call out to get a platter. Then the Aunty server came and brought out our Michael's special platter and it was sooooo good!! Our amaebi sushi that we ordered came with our platter as well! The Aunty server was so sweet!! Everyone there was so nice and the sushi chefs as well!!So here's the best part!! Come to find out the married couple that sat behind us took our platter but never said anything to the servers AT ALL!!!! How pilau is that?! Like you come to a high end sushi restaurant and you act like that?! Mind you that this platter was $171 and from what I heard that couple's bill was under $50...like how do you only spend $50 at this restaurant??? Bruhhh I hope this couple reads my review cuz you know I'm calling you out on this!!! For locals, I can't believe you would do something to a local business!!! Like the restaurant had to take a lost because of them.We order so much food!! But the restaurant gave us a 30% off our bill because of the mishap that happened!! Mitch's Sushi is the real MVP!! They know how to take care of their customers!!! They deserve the 5 stars all around!!! If you haven't tried Mitch's please come and try it out! You will not be disappointed!!! Also, help support this local business with delicious food!!! We will definitely be back because there's so much other stuff we didn't get to try yet! Thank you Mitch's!! We will be back!! More...

Simplicity at its finest. As much as I love innovation when it comes to food, keeping it simple and letting the flavors come out in its purest form is an art it's in own category. Mitch's is the perfect example. Their sashimi/nigiri platters is all about making the fish the star of the show. The quality of their fish is almost unmatched in its flavor, texture, and quality to any other restaurant I've been too. There isn't too much to say about their food since it's very simple but the quality is unparalleled. If you don't really like raw fish, they do provide cooked dishes as well. Some of those to include grilled ahi belly, grilled salmon belly, and grilled scallops. Which I also HIGHLY recommend getting on top of your sashimi/nigiri platter. If you're a sushi lover like me, I highly recommend trying this place out. I recommend you reserving a table as they can get pretty busy and show up early because parking can be pretty bad as they have a tiny parking lot and you'll have to find street parking. More...

Heard from many people that this restaurant has great sushi, and great sushi it did have. We ordered the Father's Day sashimi platter (even though it was not near Father's Day) which came with all our favorites, salmon, ahi, shrimp, scallops, hamachi, and the star of the show, otoro. It normally comes with uni too but we were able to swap it out for more hamachi, which was a good decision because the hamachi was so soft and definitely one of my favorites of the night. The otoro was slightly firm but still had great taste and it wasn't stringy at all. We also had a side of unagi which you can never go wrong having and it was decently big sized. Hand rolls were also good but does come with a lot or rice so it will fill you up. I would highly recommend the hamachi Kama, it was very good. Not too oily and had a lot of fish on it. And lastly we had the chefs 10 piece special. I think it's a pretty good deal for all the nigiri you get. I made reservations on open table which was quick and easy but we went on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables still open. They have a pretty large eating space with several different rooms too. We were able to find parking outside their restaurant but we had to hop the curb to get to it, so if you have a low car I would suggest street parking instead. More...

Currently in Oahu for a babymoon! I figured I'd review some restaurants here and there. When looking for a yummy sushi spot, we had a few criteria: 1) a la carte menu (not just omakase since we were bringing our 2 year old) 2) kid friendly aka high chair available 3) reservations available haha. Based on 1 and 2 alone, ruled out a lot of sushi restaurants for us fortunately. Review time:PARKING: There isn't a lot of parking in front of the actual restaurant; however there was plenty of free street parking, which is where we parked. STAFF: The staff here was awesome!! My son threw up his milk due to the car ride (he gets car sick nowadays) and the staff was super nice about it. They gave me multiple rags to clean it up and all was said and done without an issue. When we ordered our food items, the waiter turned our Misoyaki Salmon into a bento since we requested some rice with it without any issues. The waiter actually gave us AMAZING recommendations too on items he likes and enjoys, definitely items we never would have thought to order!ITEMS ORDERED:Misoyaki Salmon BentoEngawa Sushi (seared) - waiter's recommendation Hamachi SushiHotate SushiKinmedai SushiSake SushiSake Sushi (seared) - waiter's recommendationShima Aji Sushi - waiter's recommendationToro SushiToro Aburi SushiUni Sushi**Note: Sushi = 2 pieces TASTE/QUALITY: I just want to preface for this trip that we are only eating at one sushi place so I can't compare to other restaurants on the island. I will say though that each piece was absolutely amazing!! Each piece had great flavor, perfect amount of rice, and tasted clean/fresh. I feel you could tell that the fish is high quality here. The sushi was good, but not excellent. More expensive than the excellent sushi restaurants I've been to elsewhere. The venue was more underwhelming than I expected, even though I had looked around in street view ahead of visiting, knowing it's in an industrial park. The ambiance was tacky; they had a bunch of printed menus and signs taped to the walls which really brought down the ambiance more. The service was nice, but didn't offer suggestions. And the quality of the ingredients seems to be mid-level, such as the wasabi, soy, rice and other accouchements. 3 Stars, because the food was good, but overall quality, presentation and ambiance didn't match the cost. I would never have thought to eat here, given the promise of picturesque dining near the beach, but local knowledge goes a long way! It's not much to look at from the outside, and frankly it's an unlikely location for a great dining experience. Once you enter though, you see the sushi chefs and are led to the dining room which was cozy and quiet -- a stark contrast from the busy airport down the street. I was sleep deprived and let my friend order for the two us. I loved every item, but I especially loved the bluefin maguro and unagi. 02/23/2022 group of 7: celebrated my cousin's birthday and it's BYOB. Located near the airport.  Tucked in in an old commercial business area that you wouldn't have thought this restaurant exist, especially a high end sushi place. Rsvp was at 615pm. Got seated right away. Cousin brought a Sake bottle and a pail of ice was placed to the side to chill. Ambiance was clean, nice and nothing fancy. We ordered a lot of food. Love the platters but of course expensive. Here is what we ordered with the prices: Mitch's assorted bluefin and ora king sake nigiri platter $250, July special platter $200 (on the menu it said $192) , ahi belly x4 $20 each, salmon belly $16, uni with seaweed $30, hamachi Kama $26,Sashimi salad $12, toro (6pcs) $60, and edamame x3 $3 each.  We ordered 3 Sushi rice but forgot how much with that.  If I have to rate the food 7/10. Don't bother to order the edamame not worth it. The deduction of stars was due to waiter giving the wrong menu with the wrong price with one of the items and also we wanted sushi rice and the guy told us he will check if there is enough. It's a sushi place ....lol.. we waited for awhile and we ask the lady that we ordered sushi rice and came back with sushi rice.  The positive side is that the uni was really good. It had a sweet taste and not that ocean taste.  Sasabune is still the top of my list. Check this place out tho...your experience maybe better than ours. Although, with good people and laughs makes it worth it . Sometimes I think in all restaurants if you have a party of 6 or more waiters don't care because gratuity is automatically included.
