Good home-style cooking you would expect from Abuelita en la cocina! Had a $25 off coupon from Uber Eats, so for my first order from Mis Raices I got quite the feast! The food was all on point! Nothing at all fancy, just good home cooking! The pernil and arrow con gandules were plentiful,  and the empandas were filled generously! Was surprised to see frozen fried yuca, but it wasn't bad. Pretty solid. Food is tasty and plentiful. What we ordered:- Ham and chicken croquettes:  very good, especially for $1 each. - chicken chicharon de pollo: awesome. Got take out so they need to poke a hole in the container so the batter/ breading doesn't get soggy. But very good.- Bistec encebollado:  very good tasty. Steak wasn't dry. - Arroz con gandules:  good as well. A touch dry but still very good. - Black beans:  not sure if they messed my order up but they weren't straight black beans. Ok but could go without. - Beef stew gravy:  very good. Got this for a side for rice and the steak and it was good. So I would think the beef stew they have must be good. - chicken empanada:  Very good. I didn't order it when I called in my order but decided to add when I got there. And I'm glad I did. I've been hearing how good Cuban food is from my fiancee for months now and how I have to try it. Boy am  I happy that we ordered from  this restaurant! The Cuban sandwich, each bite was heavenly  and the flavors that worked together so well! The stuffed green plantains, with ground beef was probably the best tasting  dish I've had in a long time.  Those Empanadas though! My girlfriend and I ordered here and honestly it's pretty good. When you walk in the place looked nice, smelled great, and you could see the chef cooking in the front. Staff was friendly. To me it just doesn't feel super authentic. Usually when you have congris there's pepper and olives, but it was just rice and beans. The ropa vieja also didn't have any olives and was a little bland. I cook Hispanic food and love to find a restaurant that cooks it well. They have a decent menu. You will not be disappointed with anything on the menu. In these hard times you want to spend your money and have it be worth it. Everything is flavorful and cooked right. We decided a few nights ago to try a new restaurant. I'm currently 6months pregnant and grew up in St. Croix (USVI) and have been craving good Caribbean/Latin food with no relief honestly we've tried many places. However late one night we decided to give this place a try as suggested on Ubereats let me just say "Freakin Yummmmmmmmmm!!!!" Oh *insert drooling face here* I ordered Pernil with white rice , red beans and sweet plantain, my husband ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce with yellow rice and an empanada. I thought maybe because it was a craving fulfilling it was why it was so good but my husband and I sang praises while eating uncontrollably. Every bite was delicious everything was perfectly seasoned and the Pernil was so succulent and flavorful. The plantains were perfect. I immediately felt like I was back home on my island eating from our local Puerto Rican restaurants. Everything was delicious the portions and the prices were great. I ordered again from Mis Raices for my parents.  They are elderly and I wanted to give them something I knew they would enjoy.  I ordered the. Fried shrimp with rice and bean witha side of platanos Maduros.  The order arrived earlier than expected and they told me it was delicious.  The shrimp were really large and perfectly cooked.  They really enjoyed them and it made me really happy to have given them a treat.  Thank you, Mis Raices for the great service. The food was delicious yet their service and delivery was terrible. I don't mean treatment wise, I mean more when it comes to execution xof what was promised. We had to wait for a long time to get our food delivered and when we finally got it they missed some items in our order. Granted, they gave us empanadas to make up for it but the fact that it took about 2hrs for us to get our food was terrible. I ate extremely late that night and didnt even get my whole order until after I finished eating. I don't think I would order from them in the future. My friend & I ordered for pickup. I wasn't in the mood for rice so I ordered the cuban sammich with a beef empanada. My friend ordered the steak with onions with white rice and beans, tres leches, & beef empanada as well. Our empanadas didn't come with any sauce. Bummer. I've had cuban sandwiches from different places, but Mis Raices should call it the CUMIN sandwich instead. I took my first bite and all I tasted was cumin. I gave my friend a bite, he's hispanic btw, and he said it tasted horrible. The person who prepared it must have a heavy hand or that's how they really make it. It literally tasted like it could be a sandwich from India. What a total waste of a whole sandwich ! So disappointing. The beef empanada was good though. It does have raisins btw. This isn't my first time ordering from them, but I completely forgot to order the fried yuca. They are to die for! Oh well. Anywhoo, onto my friend's order. He ordered the bistec encebollado with white rice and beans. His white rice became yellow rice and beans with a side of pinto beans. He also tasted massive amounts of olives in the rice, which he eventually picked out. Later on, he ate his tres leches and also gave me a bite. Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in North Jersey. The amount of food you get for your money is worth it. To my knowledge, most meals come with 2 sides and they are often enough for two to share, especially with an additional side order or my favorite, beef & raisin empanadas. My experience was based on Dining In- we got there around 6:30 on a Saturday night, they didn't have that many people so were easily seated. We walked in and didn't know if we should just sit or ask to be seated but we found a table and menus were brought over quickly. Me and +1 ordered 1 empanada each to start and 2 mofungo dishes with a side of rice & beans. Well, we waited about 10 mins and the waitress brought plaintains to snack on(which was very good) but after 20 mins and our food still not coming out we're getting really hungry and wondering there the empanadas were. So our main dishes comes out and I get brought a giant deep fried piece of chicken. I asked her what this was (I don't eat red meat & I didn't know what it was at first) she said something that I literally never heard. I told her, sorry I ordered Chicken Mofungo & she said "No you didn't." No offer to fix my order or anything, so I got stuck with something I didn't even want. My boyfriend got his out right after, food was ok on my end cause it's a deep fried piece of chicken, no sauce or anything, it tasted ok but I wouldn't order something like that withouf. Mofungo with creole sauce was delicious! Wish I was able to try it. After 5-6 mins of eating our entrees- the empanadas come out, asked about sauce but they ran out from GrubHub orders. The chef seemed really nice & personable but if this place is going to expand to their clientele they deff to get some experienced staffing. Best Puerto Rican food I've had! We tried a bunch of their entrees and not a single one was disappointing. My favorite was the pernil and oxtail.
