These guys make it so easy to add great audio to our work at Cimira Studios! After our first project together last year, we knew we had to work with Ken again to take our audio to a higher level and last week we had the perfect project - voice over work for four videos. We had our talent, Carolyn Douglas, meet us there and we were in and out in just about an hour! Ken has a gem of a studio with all the trimmings for any kind of music, voice or other audio needs and Matt took great care of us. My Children's Musical Storytelling business, ImaginationBand, recorded our first EP with Ken duo, who were fantastic. We managed to record all in one morning, and walked home with our finished product that afternoon. I just finished the Practical Audio Recording Course at Mirror Sound Studios, and it was hands down the best money I ever spent. Ken did a great job of teaching the different factors of recording a song, and going in depth on how to turn a rough recording into a CD ready track. I really felt that I learned a lot and got the answers to questions I had going in, and would recommend this class to anyone. There are a lot of these classes all over Seattle, but the fact that you get hands on learning the minute you walk in the door on your first day, puts this course at the top of the list. I recently took the Practical Audio Recording Class with Ken and walked away knowing so much more than I did walking in. If you are interested in learning more about audio engineering, Pro Tools or even how a recording studio operates, this is a great class to take. I signed up for the class knowing basically nothing about audio equipment or audio programs but that wasn't a problem. Ken is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and fun and his assistant Matt is a great help in the classes as well. Classes are well rounded with take home assignments as well as in class projects and hands on time with the sound board and equipment. Last Friday I stepped into Mirror Sound Studio with a little hesitation on my part. Nerves, anxiety, and what nots.However, I felt a warm welcome. Accommodating to my comfort and performing together in a way that was brand new to me. Tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood. The studio is beautiful, clean and has an endearing ambiance. Mirror Sound Studio is the best!My wife and I were traveling in Seattle for the weekend (we live in LA). At the airport, she got an email from her agent about a big VO role, but the submission was due the next day. Since we were out of town, we didn't have access to any of our recording equipment. So, we frantically started calling recording studios in the area.Mirror Sound called us back immediately, and were able to fit us in the next morning. Both Ken and Matt were very professional, and were amazing to work with. I've had the opportunity to mix and have a project mastered at Mirror sound recording studio in the past couple months. "The Lori Hardman original music CD project". The sound quality and the mastering of the project is very good. Ken Fordyce's new mixing console the API 1608 with automaton is a nice sounding addition to Ken's studio. Alan Edwards and I just spent Saturday afternoon doing our 4th session recording our latest album AlleyKattz, Landing on All Fours, at Mirror Sound. Ken and Matt are great to work with. These guys are top notch. Everything they do rivals the competition. As a singer, it is not unusual to speak the words, "I hate the sound of my voice when recorded", but Ken has a way of making me sound great, even to myself. That is a feat in itself. I took their introductory class "Computer Music Making and Recording," and was extremely impressed by the quality of this class. The staff are consummate professionals and equally knowledgeable and articulate in their areas of expertise. They're able to describe highly complex ideas in terms that I, as a complete beginner, could understand. They also made the class really fun. The staff is very professional, I was almost an hour late so I felt bad but they were fine with it. The rate is $50 an hour and I finished one song in that time, but the thing is I'm very picky about details so a lot of parts I had to redo and put layers on the tracks.
