I love being surprised and Mina and Dimi's didn't disappoint. Upon arriving to the strip mall I was admittedly underwhelmed. We spent a long hot week in San Antonio and were nearing the end of our stay and were just about to settle for grocery store sushi--man, I'm glad I consulted Yelp and found Mina and Dimi's place.  The Greek house is in a strip mall just off 90-don't let the condition of the mall throw you off-there are vacant stores, it looks like its prime days are bygone but you'll find this gem located near the giant weekend flea-market building.When you're searching for a joint to dine you always, I mean always consider the car count. If it's dinner time and no one's there-if the seats are empty-keep rolling out-it's not worth your time or money.  Mina and Demi's had the cars, the seats were filling fast and there was a steady stream of folks lining up to dine and some taking food out. I also noticed that their health score was a 99-soild, we picked the right joint.We rolled in and got seated and were able to take a peek at the food on other tables and it was looking more than promising, all signs pointed to greatnesI sat with my back to the kitchen but my Lady said the folks cooking up everything looked to be authentically Greek-one of the staff looked to be none other than Mina herself-she was busy bringing out plates and checking in with the diners.We selected the Village Salad with a beef kabob and the Chicken Slovakia platter which came with a small greek salad and your choice of potatoes-I picked the feta french fries-they were amazing!I opted for a half and half tea which was very good and grabbed a side of tzatziki for the pita bread-it was amazing as well. The staff was pleasant and attentive, those dining were happy and as I thanked the cook on the way out from paying he said; "See you next weekend!"  If only....at that moment I was sad to be an out towner.If we find ourselves back in SA anytime soon you'll find us at Mina and Dimi's.Check it out-you will not be disappointed. Hands down my favorite place for Greek food!About 13 years ago I brought gyros home for a  party for family and friends    I live 2 miles from BFE, and most have never had a gyro prior.   More when I am picking up food I always have to pick up a couple of extra for delivery.  No good deed!!Great food, even better service!    Some of the happiest people in San Antonio work here.  Oh if you like beer try the Mythos Hellenic Beer. Not much I can say that others have not already been said. Been here twice when visiting San Antonio, and there has not been a single thing I've tried that was not tasty. My friends and I tried the sampler during my first visit and we polished it off (it's huge)! During my second visit, I ordered the fat gyro with feta fries and small salad. Amazing amazing amazing. From the friendly faces to the food. I simply cannot recommend this wonderful little hole in the wall enough. I shared the Hercules with my mom and it was sooo much food. Very fresh and the proteins were tender! My sister got the gyro and loved it as well. The real star of the show for me was the baklava cheesecake, this might be my new favorite dessert in the world. It's been a must stop and favorite of mine for years. I took off one star because of the unusual dry gyro, both the meat and sandwich was dry, that I got. It was to go and very little tzatziki sauce was on it. Everything else was fantastic as usual. I've eaten my way through this menu many times over the years but it's my first visit back post Covid. A real hole in the wall but well loved. It's in a seen better days shopping center by Hwy 90 near Lackland AFB and really draws the military who have lived overseas and those who just were lucky enough to come in. Sometimes there are special nights with belly dancing and I think wine dinners but not 100% on that.I got the deluxe gyro combo with came with Greek salad and fries and added a beef stick and a small container of feta cheese. The beef stick was juicy and delicious...If you like this kind of food I think it's one of the best if not the best in the city....and I lived in Turkey so I can be very picky about this food.And the desserts...just look at the case under the counter...delicious and such variety. I absolutely love Greek food, so I was thrilled when I saw that there was a Greek restaurant near where I was staying in San Antonio. Mina and Dimi's Greek House lived up to its expectations. I got the chicken gyro combo, which comes with fries (I changed it to feta fries) and a salad. The gyro was amazing. The chicken was really tender and it comes with fresh tomatoes and onions, honey mustard, and mozzarella. The salad was pretty good, but I largely ignored it in favor of the feta fries. They're fairly thick fries topped with a mountain of feta and a creamy sauce, and they're AMAZING. If you go to this restaurant, you NEED to upgrade to the feta fries. For desert, I got the baklava cheesecake, and it was really good! The spices of the baklava worked really well with cheesecake, and there were notes of orange and clove in the cheesecake itself. The restaurant isn't in a great part of town, but the food is incredible. If you ever stop in San Antonio, you need to go to this restaurant. More...

This is another great place to visit for great Greek food.It's not the cleanest place, but I tend to think that some of the best tasting places fall in line with those that aren't the cleanest. (No disrespect, just keeping it 100!)We both ordered the lunch Gyro plate with feta cheese and dill on top of the fries ( on the menu it's called Feta Fries.)The Gyro was packed with gyro mean, fresh tomatoes and fresh onion... it's always a perfect combination of ingredients and never disappoints me.Feta Fries were different today and only get 2 stars. Placed an order on their website for pick-up, and after arriving 15 minutes later, they said they lost the order. So we continued to wait another 30 minutes (with 0 contact from them about the delay or wait), we again got back in line just for them to say "we lost the order again". No apologies, no "sorry for your wait", nothing. Just a "shucks, that sucks, next in line please". Nothing like driving 30 minutes away just to wait almost an hour for them to not give a single care about remediating the situation; if your system doesn't work, why do you use it? Mina & Dimi's is absolutely fantastic and highly recommended!  Having lived in Turkey for almost two years, I adore and fancy the regional food and variety of ways to serve similar items.  This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurants in San Antonio.The food is adequately associated to the quality of food and it is the closest to taste to cultural origin.  While they can be busy during lunch, it is worth the wait, if you do not order to go.  Plus, they have the best baklava I've indulged upon across many States!Having dined here for over a decade, they never disappoint and they have maintained their consistency over the years.  The cleanliness has never faltered and the customer service has always been above average.Bottom Line:  Highly recommend if you are in the area! I have been wanting to eat at this place for a while but every time I can they were hosting a some celebration.  Then I had to leave out of town and just got back and thought let me see if the restaurant is open.  It surely was I was excited and the food has been excellent.  I order my food and when I got it I  complemented on pretty the food looked even the fries looked very good.  When I bite on my fries the were not hot at all I was very disappointed, I did speak with the employee and they said they change to new fries that is why they are this way.  I asked how can I get them to be hot  and they stated that all I have to do is ask for crispy fries.  I took a picture of the fries that were left sitting for 30 minutes and they still look the same as when I received them. The fries have a good flavor but semi warm.  The fries only take few mutton cook so they should always be hot.  This is why I gave a rating of 4.  Hope next time I get hot fries. More...

I was hesitant trying something new but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the gyro platter was. I don't like feta cheese so was not a fan of it being in my salad. I tried the kadaifa dessert it was definitely different than anything I've ever had, unfortunately it tasted to much like coconut but I'm sure it's a delicious treat for non picky eaters!
