Michael is unique to the peninsula. He is a gifted designer who keeps his eye on costs. Our project was remodeling a rental property.
He was able to modernize it linking us with contractors that were affordable yet competent. He brought the project in ahead of time purchasing attractive features.
He is a outstanding asset in the otherwise overpriced mid peninsula. He is reliable and promptly responsive.

Michael helped us with updating a guest room, home office, and lighting in our Menlo Park home. He has a great eye and style, and will work with any budget. He is organized, efficient, and offers a variety of choices. I loved that Michael has favorite painters, electricians, handymen etc. that he arranges and supervises. I was looking for a designer to completely redesign my 1950s kitchen and was fortunate to find Michael Black via my contractor.
Michael did an excellent job understanding exactly what I was looking for. He was great at figuring out what will and will not work with the rest of the house, choosing the right cabinet designer, picking up the appropriate materials, fittings and appliances and coordinating with my contractor to get everything done in a tight schedule.
The end result is a beautiful kitchen I have been enjoying for the past few months.

Michael is an amazing designer, who listens, is incredibly creative, and works within your budget. I interviewed 3 other designers, who all wanted to use their own vision, not mine.
It was wonderful working with Michael on two huge projects (taking my home down to the studs, and completely rebuilding, then doing the landscaping). He is trustworthy, thoughtful, and has a great sense of humor! This really helps when you want to strangle the building permit people . I have recommended Michael to any of my friends doing projects.

Michael is the best thing that happened to us and our house remodel! He drew the plans, improving the use of our existing space, to create a completely new, light-filled and open environment. His design for the kitchen and dining room made both more roomy and usable. He helped us select everything from tiles to light fixtures, doors to floors, paint colors to furnishings. He was quick and responsive and reasonably priced! Michael is a delight to work with, has a great eye, and original ideas. More...

Michael was very responsive, easy to work with and quite creative. He developed several design concepts and was very respectful of our ideas while explaining his point of view. He managed all aspects of the project including finding specialized artisans to do some of the work, managing the subcontractors and their access to the job site, managing the delivery of the furntiure and doing some of the work personally. He worked within our budget limits while suggesting alternative designs. Michael communicates effectively and is a very nice guy. I recommend him highly. In fact, we were so pleased with his work on our backyard in Menlo Park that we hired him to redesign the outdoor space in our house in the Palm Springs area. More...
