my boyfriend and i decided to venture out of our normal area for breakfast and try something in downtown sunnyvale! we were walking and this cute restaurant and bar looked appealing so we walked in and were right! it's super cute-the decorations and the tables :)we were seated within 15 seconds of walking in and started looking at the menu. the reason i said four stars was our waitress was not as energetic as i had hoped. other than that, the food was DELICIOUS and the proportions were very generous for the price!! we are definitely going to come back! thank you :) More...

I cannot believe that I've never been here before! I've been coming to this area for years and never thought to come here. The food and service was great! We got to the restaurant at 10:30am for brunch on a Saturday. We were seated immediately. The staff was very attentive and took our order as soon as we were ready. Our food was out in a timely manner and the staff kept our drinks filled throughout our meal. French toast was great! The thick cuts of bread along with my scrambled eggs (with cheese mixed in) really hit the spot. I came here on a random weeknight. The place was alive and full. I was greeted by two beautiful ladies and was wanting a to go order. I opted for the steak dinner with a side of calamari. I was curious to try the bar so as I waited, I sat and ordered a side car.The pour was perfect, the drink was amazing and the service even more so. It was a good drink and the bartender definitely knew what he was doing. No skimpy pours here.As I waited, I talked with the two ladies on and off and the bartender, and all of sudden it felt like my spot. A few moments later, I got my food. It was time to go.The food:Steak, mashed potatoes, veggies and coconut shrimp - 10/10 fantastic. The steak was how I liked it, medium rare. Came here on Tuesday for a work lunch and it eas a nice little spot. A bit busy, there was another large group there but they were able to accommodate us. Not too loud inside, was able to still talk and hear the people across from me. Had nice holiday decorations. They took our orders and everything came out in about 20-25 mins so that was nice.My Monte Christo sandwich was amaze balls, loved it! Huge portions and a lot of fries. Came to Santa Clara for a football game at Levi Stadium and found myself wandering the beautiful streets of California and wandered upon the farmers market and stopped in at Metro City and enjoyed a delicious meal. Been coming to this area for my hair but first time I had to find a good brunch place for my cousin and nephew. Chose this because of the high rating and didn't want to disappoint my guests. This place definitely did not disappoint!! The staff were friendly, respectful, and efficient especially notable since the place was packed :)I ordered corned beef hash and scrambled eggs. The eggs were moist; I was a bit disappointed with the corned beef hash because it looked more like hash with corned beef but one taste and I was hooked! The fruit bowl was fresh and none of the pieces were overripe at all!!!My chef cousin will have to make his own review but he says his NorCal omelette was very good, nice size portion. Had lunch with a friend and had a good time.Atmosphere: farmhouse with metl and dark woods. Seating was good, not too close from other tables. Staff: VERY nice. Our waitress did not rush us and gave us plenty of space. She visited us at the right times. She knew the food menu and gave us the drink menu as they had many beers on tap and many specialty drinks.Food: They serve breakfast all day !I was in the mood for breakfast so I order the Kentucky hash: crisp hash browns covered with cheddar cheese, spinach, sauteed mushrooms and 2 eggs of my choice. Next to that was a biscuit covered in gravy. My friend ordered a burger (very good size) with potato fries. Our meals were very good and portion was right on, not HUGE, but we were full. Drinks: menu was large and they have a bar. We both ordered the New Almaden Red Ale. Tasted excellent and didn't know it was 10% ABV. We were feeling GOOOOD after that.Overall: I'd recommend the place if you're in Sunnyvale by Murphy street. Go in early or late from the rush. Metro City is excellent. It's a quality establishment with good space, food, service, and location. Held back almost exclusively by price-point but not to a degree that I feel comfortable removing a star. First off, I will say this review comes after about 5 visits to this location. 4 of those 5 times I ordered the Crabs Cake Benedict and I will continue to do that every visit. They are exquisite. In my most recent visit, my date and I also ordered the Banana Bomb Waffles to share on the side. They were good too, albeit not a difficult breakfast item to make well. It's a waffle with sliced banana, peanut butter and chocolate drizzled on it. Messing that up would take a lot of effort. But it's really good and a great menu item if you're feeling it. Their country potatoes are good, but not mind blowing.The setting is great. Lively but not overly packed. Good space between tables. Very easy to hold a conversation. The aesthetic is very pleasant.There's a bar with TVs playing sports games going. I haven't explored that element of the restaurant before. Only ever been here for brunch.Wait staff are immaculate professionals. They checked in a couple of times. Didn't feel over bearing or hard to find when we needed them.Biggest (and perhaps only) weakness is the price point. They tend to run a few bucks higher for similar quality/amount of food relative to local competition. Despite that, I keep coming back, which says a lot about the kind of establishment they run. Wendy was our server and she did a wonderful job!Food was great, service was quick, what more can you ask for for breakfast? Tried this place for breakfast from a recommendation from a buddy. I didn't think this place did breakfasts, but they do. I believe I found another spot to add to my morning lineup in the South Bay .I had the Murphy's Hash Breakfast. Two poached eggs on a bed of corned beef hash on two toasted English muffin, topped with Hollandaise sauce? Is this too decadent? Nope. I ate that thing like it was my last meal. Corned beef hash can be tricky and I've been let down a couple of times. Fortunately, the guys behind the grill at Metro City can sling it. This is my favorite brunch spot! I usually get their country eggs Benedict and a bloody mary. It really hits the spot on post-debauchery Sunday mornings. Their poached eggs have always been consistent and not over cooked, a trait I find rare for a brunch spot. We have been coming here since they have opened (three years or so) and what a great addition to the Sunnyvale food scene. Â The best breakfast in the area, whether you have it in the morning or at night, a good beer selection and really good cocktails. Â What really makes this restaurant--aside from the delicious food--is the staff. Â Whether it's Matthew behind the bar, or Juan and the other bus staff, they're always so friendly. Â The waitresses are amazing and are able to handle a large crowd, even when there's only a few of them working. Â What really makes this restaurant special is a person who seems to hold it all together, and that is Nora. Â She is often one of the first to the restaurant in the morning, has a smile on her face, and kills it on a daily basis. Â Our work crew used to go there for breakfast on our Fridays since we worked in the late hours and this was our spot for breakfast and drinks. Â Nora was able to put up with our rambunciousness and made our time even more fun. Â I watched her this morning as she took orders, served tables, mixed drinks, and answered the phone, many times doing at least two of those tasks at the same time--what a bad ass. I've been here a few times and it's definitely a solid brunch place. Can't go wrong with all day breakfast if you ask me. It works for a lot of people too since they have a pretty good tap list, if you don't like mimosas or bloody Mary's . The service is decent, even seems to hold together when they are very busy. My only constructive criticism is that if you order a starter it should come before your entree. Of the 3 times I've ordered a starter they have alllll came with my entree. Adorable restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating in downtown Sunnyvale. It's really cute inside and the wait staff is very kind and efficient. I got the chicken and waffles, which were delicious! Go see Nora. She's the best. Always feel welcomed. My coffee is poured immediately and table requested is delivered promptly. Eggs bene are my fav. We are never disappointed when we visit this Metro City! The food is always delicious, the service is excellent, and they treat us like longtime friends each time we walk through the door. I wanted breakfast for dinner so I had the Hash Brown Benedict. It's pretty much the best meal any time of day! My husband got the braised short ribs! OMG! This place is great!I love the happy hour here. They have great drink specials (try the different margarita flavors) and I love their gyro and sliders. The gyro plate comes with fries, pita, and gyro, with a side of tzatziki and cucumber/tomatoes/onions. Such a refreshing combo. You can pick and choose the slider flavors too. The brisket and crab cake ones are super yummy. So DELICIOUS! I just had their metro burger and it was pure juicy, sloppy, flavorful, amazingness! Nice place to grab brunch with friends and family, the farmers market is also next door if you happen to come on a Saturday! The interior/exterior is super nice with seating outside as well, although it can get somewhat cramped and loud inside.We got the smoked salmon benedict, the crab cake benedict, and the nutella french toast. Both benedict dishes were pretty good but the french toast was a letdown. The size was great but it was somewhat grainy and dry, which had me reaching for my water cup with every few bites. Delicious breakfast early on a Sunday morning, very friendly and attentive service. I got the Kentucky Hash Browns (scrambled eggs, cheese, spinach, grilled tomatoes, over crispy hash browns. .. with an excellent biscuit and gravy on the side). Waitress had great coffee refill timing as well. I left very full and satisfied. Â They did not add the two things I requested not adding but then they made a large meal-size salad with the rest and it was beautifully plated. I love to stop by for breakfast here any time of day. I enjoy eating breakfast all times of day, so I appreciate they serve here all day. Service is great and staff is great, food preparation very quick and served hot. Â Large portions and you can't beat their great location. Â They have outdoor seating options which is also nice, Â especially when the noise level inside is too much for me. In my six visits I have loved every meal. I don't write many reviews, but this place was a great start to our Sunday. My wife and I were looking for a breakfast place while in Sunnyvale. All the reviews gave Metro City good reviews, so we decided to check it out. I was worried that there would be a long wait, since we got there around 10am on a Sunday. I was wrong. We were seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for the server.The food was amazing! Big portions for the price. We had the SoCal omelet and it was delicious. The staff was awesome!
