We were visiting Anderson and checked out some local options. Â Many restaurants are closed on Sundays, others closed at 3p so we ventured to adorable downtown Anderson with quaint shops and rehabbed old structures. Â McGees is right next to a highway overpass which gave us some hesitation but we decided to commit and go in... we were not disappointed. Â The restaurant is a "typical" Irish pub with dark paneled wood walls and many hanging flags and other things you would expect. Â The menu had some traditional Irish and Celtic options. Â When asked what the server prefers, she was quick to offer some of her favs. Â But our table of 3 ALL opted for the fish and chips. Â Ours meals arrived piping hot. The fries are batter fried and super crispy. Â The fish had a light batter that was cooked well and crispy, not overly greasy or heavy. Â The side I chose to their standard curried coleslaw, was bourbon baked apples... it was like a small applePie to finish my meal. This was an awesome restaurant. The bloody Marys with Guinness on top were phenomenal. The shrimp and grits rivaled Charleston's and the corned beef and cabbage tasted like it came straight from Scotland. I highly recommend this place.

Our experience at McGee's couldn't have been better. The service was first rate and very friendly. Food was excellent with a wonderful variety available even for kids.
