While looking for a sushi bar in the West Suburbs, Mata Ne popped up. Ordered three landings: crispy cauliflower, smoked tataki trio, and two signature rolls.
Had a glass of cabernet saucignon to go with the landings. Finished with hazelnut beignets. All of it was outstanding.
Pleasantly surprised. I think the restaurant has been open for about a year. I give them six months to a year before they start getting write-ups and recognition that they deserve. May come sooner. I am definitely a fan in advance.

This is my new favorite spot- I don’t even know where to begin, I first fell in love with the food with sushi and apps carry out and somehow fell more in love dining in tonight. The service is unreal- thank you Erik, our server, for the best night, and the owner, Andrew, is such an impressive, larger than life guy. I can’t wait to go back next week for my favorites, the cauliflower (I converted my whole family to this), shaking beef, scallops (I’m a scallops snob and these are the best I’ve had). Ordered takeout last night. Food was good, mask compliance was not. Sushi chef had a mask on, the other visible staff (hostesses, servers) had none.
After calling and speaking with the manager to share my disappointment and remind him of the current statewide mask mandate, his response was "I'm sorry you feel that way."
Disappointing that this new local restaurant isn't taking the global pandemic seriously. I feel bad for the staff and customers. Looks like our first experience with Mata Ne will be our last.

Had a great dinner here last night with friends and I have to say it was the best dinner we all have had in years! The quality, preparation and attention to detail with the complex and delicious flavors in every bite was a memorable experience! OMG, we cannot wait to go back here and try some of the other items on the menu. A wonderful dining experience. My party showed up and we were larger than expected. Andrew Spence and his team got us sat and served without missing a beat.
The food was fresh, exciting and layered with umami.
The wagyu tartar on sticky rice and unagi foi gras were delish!
I give the experience five stars.
