I have had a few massages with ME now, this was my first time at this location (I'm trying to scout out the easiest location to visit).  Everything was on time and as expected, I requested a deep tissue back massage and boy did I get it: aching for days! Estera gave me the BEST deep tissue massage! She knows her stuff! Learned a lot from her being so knowledgeable about clinical massage and she even went the extra mile to show me some stretches to help my aches and tightness. This is a pretty convenient location, situated right next door (technically in the same building) as the Greektown Mariano's. You can park in the attached parking garage for free, and walk to the entrance from the sidewalk, or enter the first floor of Mariano's (where the coffee and gelato shop is) and use the adjoining interior doors to enter Massage Envy. The front-desk staff were both very professional and friendly, and I remember them being similarly helpful and easy to talk to when calling to make the appointment earlier in the week. The lobby and treatment rooms are very similar to the other Chicago locations (at least both Lincoln Park locations and the one in Bucktown) that I've been to, it's also very clean with the appropriate lighting and music volumes you'd expect. I just had the Best Massage EVER by Jim ! He's a newcomer to this facility .... and he was AMAZING!!!! Ask for Adam! I never imagined that massages could cure my tension headaches, but Adam's massages have done exactly that.  Now, I have a standing appt with him every Tuesday at 11AM . His experience, knowledge and technique have all been awesome. He listened carefully in order to diagnose my problem and fixed it. Btw, I'm surprised by some of the poor reviews about billing and the front desk; I have had nothing but a good experience, so far.  And, now that my 6-session trial was over, I now have 12 months of massages at $50/ea.! This review is long overdue. My mom and I have had a membership for quite sometime. Shes been coming longer than I have and recommended Sean to me and I haven't let anyone touch me since! He's amazing, very professional, polite, and firm but gentle. He's always booked for weeks, sometimes months in advance. So I recommend trying to book ahead of time ladies! Been here a couple of times. This last time I had Victoria is she is great. Pretty thorough with questions and gave me one of the best massages. I was late, but I wish she had utilized the time until the end of the appointment, not sure if it was ended 5 minutes til the hour b/c of another appointment.  I bought the holiday special for the 3 month membership on a prior appointment. I would have considered 6 or 12 months but my job requires me to move frequently. I explained that to the front desk when I didn't want to get the 6/12 months but she was still hard selling me using a weird tone to answer my questions, so I wasn't too fond of that. I came here for a full body massage and a week later i came for a facial. The massage: The therapist would ask me questions of my issues, what areas i would like to focus on, and if there's any parts of my body i feel uncomfortable being touched (basically all questions on the form you need to fill out for the first time). It's good that she doubled checked everything with me. We started at 1:10 and ended before 2, so it was actually less than an hour. Is this normal with other places? I'm not sure coz i don't do massage on a regular basis. I like my therapist and the whole experience was good. If the front desk girl didn't hard sell me the membership I think i will give them a 4.5 star.The facial: It was a great experience and i enjoyed everything. Mandy is very good at explaining when she's doing my facial. She would tell me what she was going to put on my face and tell me how it would feel. We have been members of Massage Envy for over 8 years, first joining in Maplewood MO.  Living in the West Loop since 2007, we were thrilled when this location opened in Feb 2013 only a few blocks from our house.  In the year that we have been going to this location, we can honestly say that every experience has been stellar.  Starting with the front desk and reservations, Stefanie and the crew show their spirit for customer service every time.  The therapists have all been outstanding and in particular, Aisha, Ana, Lori, and Mary off the top of my head are some of the best in the business!  We have been to at least 8 locations and this is one of the best!  The fact that it is only blocks from our house is just a bonus.  I highly recommend ME and in particular the West Monroe location. I'm surprised this place has so few stars!After reading about Massage Envy for at least a year or so, I made an appointment on exactly Sept. 30, 2013. I booked an introductory facial and massage. Both were awesome! Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Now everyone, listen closely, I personally love to research places that have memberships before I even consider speaking to an actual person about it. Why? Because an actual person's job is to get you to purchase a membership. Technically speaking no one can make you purchase anything you don't want. Even though I had already researched a lot about Massage Envy prior to this visit, I took the time afterwards to not just jump and start a membership. I asked more questions, I got my answers and more. So, there was no way I didn't know the deal beforehand. Stephanie was the one who I talked to FOREVER about the ins and outs of a membership. She was extremely patient with me, which was awesome since I really dug in and wanted to know what I was getting into. It's obvious that this chain of spas isn't at the highest possible zen and accommodation level, YET. However, so far I have gotten some awesome experiences here for the the price I pay. Each massage therapist is different which can be weird for some, but pretty cool to me. They listen to your needs. Some of them even let me know what I can do at home to continue my health and wellness needs when I'm not a the spa (besides the obvious of drinking water). Last month I had sort of a chiropractic experience, which helped me realize my left ankle is pretty bad and needs to be flexed and massaged more often lol. I have not encountered a lack of customer service, lack of respect, lack of anything that Massage Envy says they are there to offer and that's why I give them this rating.P.S. It's zen-like enough for me considering the fact that even though it shares a building with a grocery store, other establishments, is below a parking lot, and next to two busy streets and an expressway....I have yet to heard outside noise when being serviced. I have membership here for about 6 months now and it's been pleasant experience.  The reception area is always busy so I'm a bit surprised with all the negative reviews.  This is not high-end zen-like spa by any mean but the place is clean, nicely decorated and most importantly (to me) very convienient since they open late.  The receptionists  are friendly and helpful.  Making appointment thru the phone has been very easy so far.  I would have given this place 3 stars but decided to add another star for Mary.  I have many massage sessions in River north and Loop area and by far Mary is my favorite!   She listens to your need and has great technics.  Can't wait for my next appointment!! I've been a member of Massage envy since 2007. I recently started going to the new location on Halsted street, in the new shopping center with Mariano's. It's a great location. Located in the same plaza as Mariano's in the West Loop, my wife and I decided to make an appointment for the both of us and try this place out. The introductory first time One-hour massage was $49 per person which is an amazing deal. So we made an appointment over the phone. The lady on the phone was very kind, helpful, and courteous. She took down all of our info and made the appointment. On the day, we showed up and were greeted with professionalism. The lady working there was very thorough with our forms we filled out and asked us questions regarding what we were looking for in regards to the massage type. The one hour massage was great. Both of us loved the professionalism and experience of our therapists. This place is great in regards to customer service and customer experience. I have been to this Massage Envy location twice and I love it.  The front desk staff is as nice as can be and very professional.  My first time here I was running late and was frustrated because I knew that it would cut into my massage time.  That was when I found out that the actual massage was only 50 minutes, not 60 like they advertise.  I thought, "Oh no!  It's bad enough to have a couple minutes cut out of a 60 min massage, but to have minutes cut out of a 50 min !!!"  (this is why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5, by the way.  I think if they say they do 1hr massages then the massages should be one hour, not 50 min)But they killed me with kindness, I guess you could say, and I ended up having a great experience and became a member.  By the way; memberships are how these people make their money, so if you don't want a "sales pitch", then don't go here.I've had Myron and Terrell for my massages here and will definitely ask for either of them next month when I go.  They both use really firm pressure and are very attentive to what you want. Why does this place get so few stars? Cuz just the complainers care to review What a shame!This was my 2nd time to massage envy, the 1st was in Streeterville. Was treated both times, I guess if you are not a member it can be a bit pricey.I requested a male as I like deep tissue, and prefer more pressure than most people twice my size can handle. I am a petite female, but don't judge my book by it's cover, the more pressure the better!Luckily I got Sean who looks like he could play pro football. Usually I tell a therapist they can't hurt me if they try, but I knew he could crush me if he wanted to.He was excellent! He checked his pressure multiple times, and really helped get a lot of the tension I had built up in my neck and shoulders.I will certainly request him when I get the opportunity to return!I dealt with Courtney at the front desk.
