Ehhh... i'm not sure what all the hype is about with this place. My husband and I visited there for lunch today. I ordered the burger, and he ordered nachos; they were average, nothing too special. I was not impressed with the curry ketchup at all, or how close the tables were to one another; it felt like we were at the same table as the people next to us....Like 6-8inches between our table and theirs. If you don't care about the service, or the food, or even the drinks then this place might be for you. There is another place of this same name in Perryville which is so far superior it is well worth the drive to go there if this is the sort of meal you want.

This place has steadily declined in quality since it first opened. I've been many times and at this point they have screwed up my order more times than they've got it right. The food is odd and the alcoholic beverages are extremely watered down. The prices are outrageous for what you get. The last time I went, the waitress told my table that the batch of brisket they had made that night had been sent back many times for being bad, and asked if we wanted to substitute another meat. I chose another meat, but when I got my food, the brisket they had just finished telling me was bad was on there. I couldn't eat more than a few bites of it because the food was downright disgusting. The brisket was mostly fat. The worst part was I paid almost $20 for a bowl of mac & cheese and a side. The brunch is awful too. The bottomless "mimosas" had no alcohol in them, and my 20 dollar plate was a dry biscuit with a rock hard piece of chicken on top with a disgusting gravy on the side. Given all of my experiences here and the steady decline of the quality of the food and service, I see absolutely no reason to ever go back. This was the worst experience I have had at any establishment. Upon being seated, we waited 20 minutes before having a waitress approach us. Once she showed up, we ordered our drinks and waited another 20 minutes until she brought us our drinks and we were finally able to order food. We were wondering what was taking so long with our waitress until we realized she was simply chatting and sitting with clientele between working tables. The lemonade we ordered tasted like pineapple juice, and after bringing it to our waitresses attention, it turns out that the all juices get mixed in the same container. The "solution" was to dilute our drink with more lemonade and sugar. The worst part was the meal itself. We ordered a steak and eggs , which was marketed at the front as their special. The steak was an inch thick and very fatty, and upon cutting it open, it was completely raw. This would be considered raw even for a rare order. I have never had a steak look like it was placed on the grill 10 seconds on each side, and it shows complete lack of understanding by the cooks, as just by touching the surface you could tell it was raw. After letting the waitress know, she took it back. You'd expect the cook or someone to come out and apologize , but we were briefly given our bill (with the item removed) and we went our way. The combination of terrible service, lack of kitchen and food education, to a seemingly nice atmosphere and great menu variety is what makes the experience so much more disappointing. Today I came to Carbondale to pick up a van for my dad who is terminally ill which was suppose to be a sad day but refused to allow it. So after i picked up the van I found this place to eat so stopped by. Picked the perfect place to pick my mood up, the atmosphere was perfect, my bartender had an amazing presence, but not only the server who took care of me but the staff as a whole made me feel welcomed. This is always on my list of places to eat when I'm in Cape!My absolute favorite thing is the pork steak. Since moving to Texas I can't really get good pork bbq and when I visit Missouri it's almost all I eat. The pork steak is gigantically huge - it could feed two people. Sides are also delicious. My favs are the greens, loaded potato salad, and bbq beans. My only critique is that I really wish they had bbq sauce in the tables. You can order a small serving of it for 50¢ but I think having a bottle of their best flavor bbq sauce on the table would be better. Good food and really cool atmosphere. On a whim we asked the hotel receptionist from a recommendation at the Candlewood Suites! She immediately said Mary Jane! We decided to go ! We were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly! This place was highly recommended by my local friends. We tried to go last night but it was full so we came for lunch today instead. I'm from Dallas, where the brisket is amazing and I'm not usually a brisket fan. I got the brisket Sammy and couldn't believe my tastebuds, melt in your mouth, juicy goodness! Of course I tried other dishes and the potato skins were also on point as well as the prime rib Sammy, Brussels sprouts and potato salad. But the ultimate best part was Phil. This was my first time eating and drinking here and it was amazing. The food was delicious, I had the fries and the brisket quesadilla. .. Great flavors, tender meat, just sooooo good! This place was seriously one of the best meals I have had in a while! The whole ambiance was really cute too. My boyfriend and I were visiting Cape Girardeau for the first time and tried it out. First of all, the staff was super awesome. Our server, Gina, was knowledgeable about the drinks and food while being extremely friendly. She was the sweetest, honestly. The manager, Cheyenne also stopped by to check on us and was just a genuinely nice person! On top of that, everything we got was delicious. I got a half rack of ribs with greens and corn while my partner got a bbq sandwich with fries. We split the skillet cornbread and that is really something you don't want to skip it was so dang good. We selected Mary Jane Bourbon and Smokehouse from a list on Yelp. We are traveling to Illinois and had never been to Cape Girardeau. This was a wonderful find! Great ambiance and service was excellent. Our Bartender, Austin, was very friendly, prompt, and skilled. Best Classic Old Fashioned that I've ever tasted. My husband enjoyed his Salted Carmel Old Fashioned. They have the largest selection of Bourbons that we've seen and Austin can give a mouth-watering description of each one.My husband and I ordered the Smoked Trinity for dinner. Wow, amazing! Good food and drinks. However they were slammed when we went and had to wait forever to get our food. When it did come it was pretty good. On our way to HannibalMissouri we got hungry around Cape Girardeau. We asked Siri for the best place for a burger. Trip Advisor placed it at #1 so we stopped. They DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Drove down for the SEMO fair last weekend with my sister. Met a friend of her's for lunch, at 11:30 a.m., Sep 18th. Our entire meal was ruined by the volume of the music in the place. When you can't hear what the people at your table are saying, the music's too loud, period. Other guests were commenting on the loud music, but of course the staff couldn't hear them. We ask, twice, for the music to be turned down, and we were ignored. All the staff there were young and immature, and didn't give a damn. None of us are going back, and are warning others. The customer service I'd give a mediocre score, while the employees were friendly, the service in it of itself was incredibly slow. The burger was most definitely not worth the wait but I will give props on the fries, they were good. For a dine in restaurant, there is plenty of room for improvement. As it currently stands, the service is slow but friendly, the burger was below average but the fries were a solid plus. The food was quite expensive for what it was, I'll give a comparison to explain. The best burger I've ever had was from a small restaurant in a little known town called Gideon, Missouri and the burger was $3.50. We were traveling back from mission hurricane IDA and had a stop in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This place was absolutely amazing! The food and service were top notch. We'll, I'll start by saying the atmosphere is great, awesome bourbon selection (probably the best in Cape). Started with the Brisket Wontons, good not great, nothing I would order again. Next the wings, with dry rub, absolutely phenomenal, best wings I've had in years, would come back just for the wings. Next, nothing, wanted to try one of the two desserts (bread pudding or peach cobbler), but was told they sold out of both (???????) over the weekend - today is Tuesday. This was one of the first restaurants I got to try in Cape Girardeau (besides getting Jimmy Johns and CFA) and I really liked it! The environment was fun and welcoming, the staff were friendly, and the food was delicious! I shared the chicken and waffles and big ol' burrito with hot chicken from the lunch menu. The chicken and waffles was good, I just wish I asked for the syrup on the side because the waffle got soggy and the chicken was getting too sweet. The big ol burrito was probably my favorite. I scarfed it down so fast I don't remember how it tastes anymore. I also tried the breakfast margarita which was good, but it's pretty sweet and not super strong. We are not fans of Cape's prevailing politics (the Limbaugh Law firm is down the street), but this stylish and welcoming joint in a particularly attractive part of town near SEMO clearly isn't either. Carved out of an old dry-cleaners building, beautiful young servers serve up incredibly good smoked meats, sides, inventive brunch items, great Bloody Marys and whiskey to other beautiful young people (plus the likes of us) amidst a solid soundtrack. Can't wait to return. If you're traveling along I-55 between St. Louis and Memphis, blow off Lambert's in Sikeston and come HERE instead. What was good - was great. What was not - was eh.Our server was very friendly, pleasant, and helpful. We started by ordering drinks. The soft drinks came out very quickly, however, the stuff from the bar took like 15 minutes. I had a side Cesar salad. The dressing was very good but the salad was way overdressed. So much so that even though the lettuce was fresh and crisp it seemed like it turned soggy and wilty.We each ordered a different kind of smoked sandwich. The food coming out of the kitchen was also very slow. We waited maybe 30 minutes. Maybe not quite that long. I had the prime sandwich which was excellent. My husband had a pork sandwich and my mother-in-law had brisket. All also were very very good. For our 3 year old son we ordered fried chicken skewers. The chicken was very lightly breaded and fried, and the sauce on it was very good. Overall it would have been great except they glazed the fried coating with the sauce and it all went soggy. It would have been better if the sauce had been served on the side.For sides, we all got the "all you can eat" fries, which were good, and it was unnecessary to ask for more fries - the servings were very generous. It came with craft homemade ketchup which none of us were nuts about. We also ordered a side of their mac and cheese which come a little cooler than even luke warm to the point the cheese was not creamy and oozy like what you are looking for in mac and cheese. We all also thought it was a little bland. A little salt perked it up but didn't compensate for it not being hot.Even though the bar and kitchen were slow - the service was very attentive. We were checked on often, and the refills on the soda came as often as needed.Considering it was a smokehouse restaurant and the smoked meats were excellent, it could have been a top notch dinner if the rest of what came with it had been given as much care as the smoked meats.
