We rode in from Austin for a car show and my man hadn't eaten...with the heat he was struggling to say the least! They were so kind and rushed the order which was DELICIOUS! Got him amazing fresh lemonade which they refilled as much as we needed them brought the food to our car in pieces so he didn't have to get out and didn't have to wait for it all at once. They are wonderful on every level! Thank you More...

Everything is great here! Can't go wrong with the all American for breakfast; the eggs are actually pre-seasoned with pepper and salt; makes the biggest difference!!Strawberry Shortcake waffle- split a whole one, or get a half for just yourself. The whip cream is homemade!Texas Chili Waffle- this one will surprise you. The cornbread waffle MAKES it!Try the pickled veggies they garnish on your plate, the carrots are YUM!Get a pastry before you leave, the selection changes all the time! More...

Oh my goodness gracious! This place was phenomenal! Stumbled upon it in passing through to the coast. I had the best coffee & breakfast in this cute café, it made me question what I've been doing my whole life lol. Upon leaving I glanced at their lunch menu and yes, I shall come back to try other options! Bravo! You're now my favorite place to enjoy a delicious breakfast! More...

I spent a week in Lockhart and came for the BBQ. I had no idea that Lockhart is a culinary oasis and has so much to offer for a foodie beyond amazing 'cue. Market Street Cafe is a prime example of that. It was so good that I stopped by twice. From the outside, it looks like your everyday cafe. I wasn't expecting to experience food at the highest level but I did. On my first visit, I had the crawfish mac and cheese which is served with a side of garlic bread. The creole sauce was addictive. With a little kick but not overpowering. The bread was fresh. All in all, 5/5 and a big enough portion for two meals. On my second visit, I got one of their sandwiches to-go. I forget the name of the sandwich, it was a creative one, but it's basically a savory French toast sandwich! They had me there. Take two pieces of French toast, toss some turkey, cheese, avocado, and a sauce inside, and you have a unique sandwich that sounds crazy but works. The blend of sweet and savory can be a big hit or a big miss. It was a big hit here. A side of homemade pickles was the icing on the cake. Service was friendly and prompt. Market Street Cafe is one of Lockhart's most popular restaurants and for good reason. It's a knockout. Make sure to not miss it---even if you're coming for the BBQ. My co-worker loved it so much that he wrote part of his thesis in grad school on his experience at the restaurant. More...

Wow! I've had the pleasure of enjoying me a meal or 2, or 3 here ;).......and have yet to be let down. The food is amazing. This is place is definitely a gem. With the risk of criticism...I must say I love great food at any cost...drive, price, etc. I frequent Truluck's on Colorado St in Austin, Gennaro's at Canyon Lake, Morton's, Eddie V's, True Food Kitchen, etc. and these places are great most of the time....but let me just say Market Street is amazing! The venue is different than most listed and not a steak house but comparing food flavor, freshness, and quality of food...you just gotta go. If you decide to visit...please be patient....believe me you can't rush perfection. Bon Appetit....V More...

Wowie Zowie! Had lunch here with a friend on 2/12/21. The house smoked turkey is by far the best I’ve ever had on a sandwich. They go the extra miles to make everything themselves and IT TASTES LIKE IT! Great job, y’all! I can’t wait to come back! More...

Such a cute place with a wide variety of food. You can tell the chef knows what they are doing here because everything has great flavor and is prepared beautifully. I had the peach tea and salmon while boyfriend had meatloaf. He wanted red sauce but it was gravy instead of ketchup sauce so he wasn't particularly fond of that but it was good! We also shared the Brussels and feta and that was as AMAZING. can't go wrong with Brussels in my opinion. I really liked the pickled garlic! Yum Go there if you can. The inside is closed but they do have little tables with two chairs per table outside More...

We arrived about a half hour before closing but they graciously served us anyway. There was a minor snafu with the order but no biggie. The food was delicious and we were glad to find a place in a meat-forward Lockhart catering to our plant-based style (even though it wasn't vegan). The Beyond Burger was about like anywhere else but the brioche bun took it up a notch. The Farmer's Sandwich sounds unassuming but was surprisingly good with an excellent blend of flavors. You can't go wrong with either the sweet potato fries or the home fries. Even the coffee (Ruta Maya!) was fantastic.Dining outside surrounds you in the pleasant charm of the downtown square with an impressive view of the iconic Caldwell County courthouse. Watch out for the bees, though.Much more deliciousness to discover next time, looking forward to it. More...

Amazing all around! They have amazing service and amazing food! Right now due to the pandemic there is no dine-in, but they have tables and chairs set-up outside that you can seat and eat on. Shelly's Homemade Sourdough Bread is absolutely heavenly! It's so soft and moist, it's my new favorite Sourdough bread! We've also tried their pastries and they did not dissapoint. This last visit we actually tried their entrées and they were so full of flavor!!!They told us that everything is made from scratch and you can definitely tell that everything is made with care and love! I got the Texas Chilli Waffle which is a cornbread waffle with chilli on top drizzled with sourcream. My husband ordered their Philly cheese steak and a side of homemade fries. We loved it all! I did wish there was a bit more chili for the waffle but it was still delicious! We would highly recommend you give them a try! Their pricing was fairly reasonable and when we walked around the square, their prices were lower than other local restaurants downtown. More...

Hands down the best food we’ve ever ate. We ate there earlier today. I had the Cuban. The best homemade sourdough bread in the world. My son had a cheeseburger. He loved it. I had the onion rings. Soooo good. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich. The pork on both of our sandwiches was amazing. The owner even paid for my sons lunch for his birthday. So sweet!! This is our new favorite spot. We plan on trying everything on the menu. Good job market street cafe. You blew our minds. Thank you for making this day special. We love your Cafe. More...

What a treat. It is difficult to find a truly safe place to eat these days. Discovered Market Street Cafe and had a fabulous lunch, and inexpensively. They are only open for takeout and outside seating, but the food was wonderful. The small strawberry and greens salad was a full meal for my wife. I took half of my 8" by 3.5" sandwich home to eat for dinner. While the sandwich fixin's were excellent, the bread was the best part. If u are passing thru Lockhart and not looking for BBQ, this is the place to stop. Oh yes, the seats out front look at the county courthouse and town square. More...

This place was really yummy!!! We stopped by here on our way back from Palmetto State Park to pick up some lunch. If you order online, keep in mind it might be longer than it says. It gave us the option for pick up at 3:15 (we ordered around 3) and it was ready at about 3:40. So if you need a super accurate estimate, call them to get a better idea. The home fries with cheese and on their own were amazing! My friend loved her grilled cheese sandwich!! She felt the Mac and cheese lacked some flavor so that wasn't her top choice. The macaroon was delicious!! My other friend thought the chicken fried steak was okay but really loved her sourdough toast. I didn't hear the whole story but believe it's aged for quite some time and it was AMAZING!!! For the most part we all loved our food - just a couple items we didn't love as much as the others. Friendly ladies too! Definitely recommend!! More...
