Mario's

I thought the food was pretty good for an Italian restaurant in minnesota. It's better that a lot of the competition nearby and I'd eat here again, but having traveled across the country many times, this place won't blow your socks off.

I went to Mario's with a friend later on a Friday night. There is some parking behind the restaurant and you walk from there. There were a couple outdoor tables and then plenty of indoor seating. The decor in the restaurant is relaxed, which I think is very fitting for a pizza restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant you walk up to a counter to order. We chose to split a pepperoni pizza and got sides of ranch. After receiving our table number we picked where we wanted to sit. It took some time for our pizza to come out but when it did it was glorious! It was large enough for the two of us, and I did not even finish my half. This pizza was so good! Casual environment with delicious, approachable menu!Pros:1. Free street parking (watch for time limits) and a parking lot in the back2. Salad - this was not a boring salad. It was filled with veggies, salami, cheese, and seasoned breadcrumbs for some crunch. Yum!3. Sausage pizza - crust was crunchy on all edges yet still doughy in the middle - so good.4. Family friendly - we went at 5:15pm on a Saturday and many other families with young children were there. They have high chairs.5. Near some fun store (Larissa Loden) and a fun ice cream sandwich shop (Nellie's)Cons:1. Only one restroom, so you may have to wait.2. Cheesy garlic bread doughnuts - they were too salty for me. Best pizza in the world . Get the 3 cheese, artichoke, garlic bread donuts , Italian hero and Oreo zeppole. Also get the incredibly cheap tap beer. Amazing music !

Delicious and amazing is an understatement! We'll definitely be back.The food was crazy good. I really liked the sicilian style pizzas, but WOW were the savory donuts fantastic. I strongly recommend trying those as a side.The service was also phenomenal. There was a mixup and another group grabbed our pizzas by mistake, and not only was the staff really quick to fix the issue, they totally made our day by comping the savory donuts. Definitely wasn't necessary - mistakes happen! - but really great customer service.You can tell the place is BUSY and takeout is in high demand, so plan ahead and be flexible. Finally made it here and I will definitely be back! I got the Italian Hero and it's downright amazing. I let it sit for a couple hours so it would get a little sloppy, and it did not disappoint! I'm so excited that I now live around the corner from this spot! We stopped in with friends and got pepperoni pizza, and it was so, so good. Soooo delicious!!! We just tried Mario's for the first time last night. I'm still dreaming of their food today. We got the marinated artichoke hero and a 3 cheese pizza. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was molto delizioso! The atmosphere was inviting and friendly. The music was a little too loud but whatever, I was there for the food. It was pretty kid friendly, but would also be a place that would be fun to go to with just friends. I cannot wait to go back! More...

Very friendly service and greeting, the music was a little loud. Good for families with seating, a lot of spaces to sit and move around. We sat and waited (as we waited I enjoyed a very cold beer in a can in a cooler fridge), we took our order for takeout, as they said it would be 1/2 hour and came out on time. The pepperoni pizza was very good, crust was perfect!! The next time I order it will be without parmesan cheese, due to very salty. The garlic bread donuts were excellent if you are a cheese lover, and the white ranch dipping sauce is the bomb!!! They only take walk up orders for now, Get there early, I hope the place makes it! Since I love Estelle, I had to check out Mario's. Humble little spot with delicious food. I ordered takeout and had the Italian combo hero and the cheesy garlic bread donuts. I was so excited that another pizza place that isn't a national chain is coming on this side of the river. Word is they may actually know what a sub is too. I was there around 4 a couple of Saturdays back. It was sit down only for staffing reasons. If you aren't here by 5 you will wait and wait. Word is out about this place. Not just cause they're there but how damn good they are. It reminds me of the Detroit style pizza, but they refer to it as Sicilian. Shaped the same and just as dense. I got the pepperoni cup and just loved it. So it was getting so packed I shared a table with a couple I took pity on. Not the kind of place you want to stand around. Stellar service, especially from Em. Until you get used to it you may feel kind of lost with the menu or whatever. They have bottled Pepsi, which is an attractive feature. A nice remodel.
