Marcus is such a great listener. So much of the work we do (and have done) together is dependent on excellent communication. Many coaches like to hear themselves talk, and offer mentees prescribed solutions to problems. Marcus, alternatively, prefers to ask thought provoking questions, listen intently to my answers, and direct the session in way such that I arrive at my own AHA moments.

Because we are so capable of greatness, Marcus holds me to a high standard and has coached me to hold myself (and others) to a higher standard.

My learnings from time with Marcus have paid off for me in the board room, when negotiating with (potential) employers, and even in my personal life.

Marcus creates a weekly space for me to focus on and explore my life and all of its ups and downs. As a licensed therapist it's my job to create and hold space for my clients. I know first hand how healing and powerful these spaces can be and how necessary it is to have someone hold the same type of space for me. Marcus expertly walks the line between coaching and therapy, while delivering insight and encouraging self reflection and examination. More...

“Coach Kent is a business owners dream! He's helped me lead our team through several challenging transitions, any one of which could have led to us loosing our spot as an industry leader. I was hesitant and a bit skeptical at first, but bringing Marcus in as an executive coach has helped not only me, but our entire management team has shown improvement after his weekly coaching sessions. His ability to consult while also coaching our key players is turning into a competitive edge that we will be keeping around for the foreseeable future.” More...

Q&As

I get to be the "people" guru within all the companies and people I work with. I get to focus on people and teams within an organization and in doing so I get to make lives easier/better.

Working for a large global company was everything I thought I wanted. I was making healthy 6 figures, helping take a company public, and had checked all of the corporate ladder climbing boxes. I was also stressed and had little-to-no time for my two young daughters or any pursuits outside of work. Worst of all, I didn't know who I was benefitting or what kind of mark I was leaving on the world. Shareholders and company owners loved me, our revenue was increasing in leaps and bounds every year, and yet, in the quite private moments when I was alone and honest with myself I didn't care. I asked myself: when my daughter get's married in 20 years, do I want the stories about me to be about how good I was at managing a bottom line, or budgeting, or managing inventory? Or do I want people to look my daughter in the eyes and be able to tell stories about how her dad helped fix their relationship, or helped them leave a toxic job, or helped them navigate a difficult change in their personal life. I decided I wanted to be known as a person who helps people. I walked away from my role Chief Operating Officer to join the team at Board Developer I haven't looked back.

In my opinion you shouldn't choose me or any coach based solely off reading a profile or visiting a website. You should take some time to sit down and have a conversation to decide if my energy, attitude, beliefs, perspective, and personality feel like a good fit for you and your unique situation. While I think I'm a great coach (my clients would all agree) I may not be the right coach for you. If you're looking to be pushed, to make intentional and lasting change, and to do the often time uncomfortable work, then lets jump on a free consultation call and see if we're a fit.

I meet with clients both online and remotely. The majority (80%) of my clients work with me remotely due to where they live, I'm very comfortable working both ways.

I closely follow CDC guidelines and keep an eye on the rise and fall of Covid cases in my area (I serve on a COVID and mental health tasks-force), when cases are on the rise, or clients feel the need for social distance switching to Zoom is an easy and effective option.
