I was very happy with Ralph Schletter of Marcucci's. He was able to give me a fair estimate (we compared with another company) with a quick turn around and he really knows his stuff! His recommendations were sound and we ended up with a new furnace and AC that works amazingly well and is SO much quieter than our old heater! Just used these guys to do all new duct work, new furnace and central AC and they were excellent.  Found them on Angie's list after several attempts to use contractors that several of my friends recommended.  There was asbestos abatement involved and that seemed to deter some of them, and they said it would be several months till they could get to me.  I spoke with Jon and he came over and took a look.  He recommended an electrician and asbestos abatement crew- both of whom were excellent and really reasonable.  Then the Marcucci guys came in early and finish the job ahead of schedule and at cost- the guys were very professional and courteous (Seth was the main guy on my job) what more can you ask for?  I would recommend them to anyone needing this kind of work- in fact I already have. I can't say enough great things about Marcucci Heating & Air Conditioning.  They are truly top of the line in my book, and I am delighted to write this review on their behalf.  I had them come out to my house a few years ago, and was blown away by Jon (one of their Advisors) customer service, not to mention, they are honest and operate with the utmost when it comes to integrity.  I called them yesterday to have them come out to my home to give us an estimate regarding putting in a new register.   They came out within 24 hours of my call, and Jon (nice to know that he's still with them 2 years later, that should say something in itself) told me that it would be costly to do what we had in mind, and since we are really on a budget he recommended that we go the low tech route and buy a inexpensive ceiling fan to help move the air around upstairs (we have a very old home from the 1920's), and didn't even charge me for the visit to our home.  I have never had any service come out to our home and not charge us for the 'visit' which I found so refreshing, and wanted to be sure to offer them a rave review. Jon McLaughlin from Marcucci Heating & Air Conditioning came to my house for to give me an estimate for replacing my entire heating and air conditioning system.  He was very professional, very knowledgable, and very trustworthy.  I liked him immediately.  I sent him a $1,000. deposit to get on their datebook.  Subsequently, a contractor that I had already hired to re-do my basement informed me that he only works with his OWN crew-- including heating and air conditioning.  I had not been aware of this, as I had not discussed the heating/air conditioning issue (as far as I can recall) with him beforehand.  Nonetheless, I contacted Jon McLaughlin, told him about my conundrum, and he graciously and without hesitation offered to immediately refund my deposit.  Based on this alone, I can highly recommend him as a very honorable person, running a very honorable business. I have read all the reviews for 2015 and have had quite a different experience. When you call Rachel is the friendly voice that greets you. ...and the technician, Julio is FABULOUS!!!!! Marcucci provided us outstanding services! We had our 40+ year old furnace brake down in Feb. 2010 during a major storm (many trees down, mud up your leg, etc. ) and they came and installed a new energy efficient furnace from the ceiling due to flooding on the basement floor. This was not an easy job and the furnace has been working well, ever since. They also helped us evaluate the furnace options and PG&E rebates for energy effectiveness to make the project very cost effective. There are some really bad review here but I have had nothing but good service.  I have had  two York furnaces  installed by them in last five years.   The price was competitive in price and the work was good.  Furnaces are fickle things when they go out.  The controller boards get intermittent and the furnace acts weird.   I had happe twice to the two furnaces in my house.    They were only forty years old but I guess everything fails evenually.  The new York units I have are 98% efficient and have high efficiency variable speed DC fan motors.  So the utility bills went down. I want to acknowledge that the owners went out of their way to make our installation right after I posted about the problems we had with them. They didn't have to do that, but I'm glad they did. The owners never argued with the issues I raised but instead made it clear that they wanted to do EVERYTHING to make us content. This is rare in today's business climate. Great work at a very fair price.  This firm has installed three forced-air heating systems (for three different single-family houses) for me in the last three years.  I've mostly dealt with Nolan Goodall, who supervised the last two jobs (including one this week).  Nolan had excellent suggestions for saving costs and the lowest bid on all three jobs.  Marcucci Co. has 7 or 8 crews, and all of the staff who've worked on these projects were well-qualified and professional.  Nolan managed the work and very helpfully scheduled the HVAC work around structural work being done by other contractors.  Nolan personally supervised the work and followed up to make sure the jobs were done well (they were).  I highly recommend this company. I needed help with my heater and a friend suggested I call Marcucci Heating. They were so awesome! Rachel was very nice and more than helpful . .she got the serviceman out the following day even though she said they were busy!Jay, the serviceman, was also really nice, prompt and found the problem right away. (which was a bad fan) It was expensive to fix so I spoke with Nolan, and he recommended that I put in a Lennox.I love my new heater and it wasn't NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be!After everything was said and done I only spent $1,400.00 and they applied the bill for Jay's visit to the new heater price. We found out that we had furnace issues during a routine cleaning of our heating ducts. We called Marcucci and Nolan responded promptly; scheduling an appointment shortly thereafter. Long story short - we needed to replace our ancient furnace. We wanted to get it done quickly, as the temperatures were dropping and we were in the middle of home renovations. Nolan was very responsive, providing us with several options, and scheduling the installation days later. Nolan also offered to stop by our house once the installation was complete to show us how to use our new thermostat. Marcucci are the best technicians for heat and air conditioning units.  If you are considering installation or repair, don't go anywhere else!  Our 2 units were incorrectly installed 12 years ago  by another company.   I had the same company that installed the units come out over the years to get the system working again.  Of course, the air conditioning was not fixed permanently and they never owned up to the mistakes.  Thank goodness for all of you, that company is out of business!   About. 3 people from marcucci came out to assess the best way to fix the errors.  I received a timely quote and an e-mail with an explanation  of the problem from Nolan that i could understand.  Response time by e-mail dialogue was very timely and straight to the point.   The service was scheduled and the technician arrived timely.  Since the technician had not spoken to Nolan, he asked me what needed to be done.  I knew generally what needed to be done, but that's about it.  Me telling him what needed to be done was a frightening thought!  I suggested that he call Nolan and talk to him.  Nolan ended up coming out to the house, going over the problems/work and bringing another person to help.  I never got involved after talking to the technician.  I expected them to fix the system and handle internal communication themselves.  That's what they did.  Our air condiTioner works properly now!  If you want to avoid paying twice to clean up someone else's mess, call marcucci! I found Marcucci through the Costco program and hired them to install AC in my house.  I have an existing Lenox heater unit the previous owner installed and I have not had any issues with it.  Considering there was a sticker on the unit from Marcucci, I decided to go with them.  Nolan showed up on time, answered all my questions and walked me around the house to decide where to put the unit.  The entire quote (with multiple options) was easy to understand.  I chose my option, they came out and installed the unit over three days.  Even though I chose a location at least 100 ft. from the heater and they had to install a new electrical line from my main box in the front of my house, they did not charge me for the additional materials.  Easily one of the best contractor experiences I have had in San Carlos.  The Costco program is fantastic (I received my $700 gift card less than a month after installation) and was well worth the money. After 23 years I guess the furnace was meant to go out.  We called Marcucci and they came promptly, gave us our options clearly and a very reasonable estimate to replace the unit.  They were able to come in 2 days and finish the job in less than a day.  They did excellent work.  Did not leave any messes behind and we are completely satisfied. UPDATE:As noted in the response, there was a reasonable explanation for the lack of follow up my rating was originally based upon.  As I was making arrangements to meet with other providers, Nolan did follow up to apologize for the lapse and promised to be more responsive.  He also offered to include some extra duct work and wiring that we needed to make up for the initial experience.   As promised, he promptly responded to subsequent queries so I decided to forgo my other appointments and signed up with Nolan to do the job.   We had a duct under the house that was disconnected, so Nolan arranged to have it reconnected within a few days, just in time for Thanksgiving.  On the scheduled install date, Nolan's installer, Symon, showed up on time and did a great job removing the old furnace and installing the new one.  Even though we'll hardly ever look at it, except to change the filter, the new furnace looks great!  Though not originally included, Nolan also offered to run a new thermostat line so I can eventually install a Nest, which while arguably overkill, does look cool.So I'm very pleased to provide this updated rating and review and highly recommend Nolan and crew!=============================================================Was it something we said...because business must be so good for Marcucci Heating & Air that they can just blow off potential customers!  Synopsis:1) Marucci was referred to us through the Costco program for a furnace replacement.  Received a call from Nolan the next day after contacting Costco and scheduled an appointment.  2) Nolan arrives a couple hours early for the appointment so he had to wait until my wife got home.  I had arranged to leave work early to make the appointment but couldn't leave that quickly. No big deal since better early than late I figure.  Nolan takes the necessary info and says he'll email a quote in a few days after which we can schedule a time for him to come back to answer any questions since I wasn't able to be there to meet him and ask questions.3) A few days later I receive the promised quote via email.  Good info and complete, but I had a question, so I replied within a few minutes of receiving his email.4) A day goes by with no response, so my wife calls him and leaves a message.5) Another day passes (so far no big deal since we didn't need repairs or anything) and Nolan returns my wife's message.  He says he's unable to come back to our house to follow up but agrees to call back at a specific time that evening so I can ask some questions (still no reply to my email). 6) I make sure I'm available that evening to speak with Nolan, with all intentions to proceed and commit.  No call that evening or the next or the next.  So basically we were just blown off.  Guess we weren't worth a simple phone call.  Sorry, but there are many other choices and I'm not going to chase a company down so I can give them my money.  Oh and I own another home in addition that needs some furnace work, so that's at least one, but probably two orders they don't want.So why two stars instead of one?  Well Nolan did provide a quote within the timeframe promised and it was well prepared.  Also, they helped me simplify the decision making by eliminating themselves from consideration, now and in the future. Our heating ducts needed to be replaced after asbestos abatement. We were referred to Marcucci Heating & Air and immediately knew we would be working with them after talking to Nolan. Nolan was professional, informative, and very friendly. He was great at answering questions and was able to quote a competitive price. The team came in and did a great job leaving little to no mess. They finished right on time and I was very happy with the overall service provided by Marcucci.Just recently we tried to turn on our central heating unit and noticed it was not blowing any hot air. Assuming it had something to do with the duct work I contact Nolan and inquired. Courteously, he came over to check it out despite that the duct work had nothing to do with the heating unit (which I did not know). He discovered it was a broken door switch and showed me how to fix the problem. Our unit is very old...way beyond it's years on it's last legs. I was happy to finally find a furnace/AC company that knows what they're doing!  When our water heater/furnace combo went out last summer, Marcucci was here quickly to check it out.   They were on top of ordering it, and the tech even worked past 5 to get it installed so that we could have hot water.  Marcucci also installed our AC.  We compared with other companies and their pricing is fair, they worked with us on options and installed the unit and ducts without a hitch.  I would definitely recommend them. I received excellent service from Marcucci. I had a hard to identify problem with a furnace. I had done some basic preliminary work on it myself.  I had called another company previously: they had not diagnosed properly the problem in my judgment and had estimated a very high cost next step repair (after having paid a rather expensive first visit). I declined.After that I called Marcucci (never used them earlier). On the first visit we were not able to reproduce the problem and the furnace appeared to be working properly. They charged a very reasonable fee that I was glad to pay based on the thorough job they did checking and inspecting.A few weeks later the problem reappeared; I called Marcucci again. They came, diagnosed, ordered one replacement part; a few days later came back to install the part, but the problem did not go away. They came back again a few days later and fixed the problem.They charged a very reasonable amount for parts and labor, notwithstanding the multiple visits. This amount was much smaller that the other company had estimated.They were always very professional and never tried to push any additional service or parts on me.I definitely recommend them. 12/14/12 Update:Nolan contacted me a few months ago to follow-up on my experience with Marcucci Heating as I had an OK installation. I was very surprised that he would contact me after about 10 months!Nolan apologized for taking so long to contact me and wanted to set up a complimentary furnace service to change our filter and take a look at our damaged wooden floors. I was a little hesitant at first, thinking that "they'll come and find something wrong and charge me more!." However, that did not happen.Nolan came to check on our furnace and saw the scratches on our now semi-new wooden floors. He offered to make up for this poor service by installing a Merv-9 filter (or 10 I think) in a custom cabinet for our furnace. He took measurements and then went back to have this made as our closet space for our furnace is small and tight. Symon then came back about a week later and installed everything perfectly!  I am amazed by this service and follow-up as I had started with no real service in the beginning. Thank you Marcucci Heating for taking the time to take care of us and making up for our scratched wooden floors. Our furnace is running smoothly and the new filter is wonderful! I will recommend you to our neighbors. It is truly hard to find a good furnace company and I feel great that we'll be going back to Marcucci Heating in the future again. I called for three estimates and finally chose this company, because the estimator answered a lot of my questions and explained everything that was wrong and that needed to be done.The pricing was fair here I think, but they do try to upsell you with "additional items" such as summer fans, and fancier filters. No one pushed it on me, but these were there if you wanted the additional items. I did have questions on some of these, and they were helpful in answering all of them.I did run into an issue with installation however. The unit was suppose to come in a few days earlier, but was delayed due to some other issue/mistake on their part. They ended up shipping the furnace quicker and did install 3 days later. I was upset with them earlier for this delay, and knocked off a star because of this. They did not lower the price for this inconvenience.On the day of the install, I had told them earlier that I just put in wood floors and they said they would be careful. Of course...after they left, I found dents in my wooden stairs. Another star off for that issue.Finally, it would have been nice if someone had done a follow up call or survey from this company. After all the money you spend, you feel a little robbed with no contact from them. Everyone is nice to you when you want to give them money, but are all gone after.The furnace itself is running smoothly so far and I'll cross my fingers for no major issues in the coming years. Nolan came out to our house on the same day that I called him.  I had obviously done some research on furnaces before he came, and I also checked with other dealers as well.  Their price was fair and honest and he didn't try to push anything that I didn't need.  When I filled out the quote, I forgot to check something, and it caused the tech to come back out and essentially re do a lot of it.  Nolan said it was no problem and the tech still got out on the same day.  We had an old leaking lennox and replaced it with a brand new furnace.  The old one lasted 20 yrs, so to have a nice heater for 100/yr is well worth it!
